Luis was there to greet us, tour the property and give us so much information on the island and what to do etc. We stayed in the main yellow house (2 adults and our four kids) and every moment of our stay was perfect. we used the amenities, the sauna, hot tub, Turkish bath, lounge area and I cooked most of our meals at the house both inside in the kitchen and in the outdoor kitchen where we lit a fire in the brick oven and grilled local steaks and veggies. The bamboo walkway greeted us every morning as we met Pamela in the lounge area daily for the delicious breakfast that was included. The table was set with chocolate milk and fresh orange juice for the kids and Pamela made us cappuccinos, Americans, espressos to order. Breakfast included fresh eggs, various fresh rolls, egg custards, fresh island fruit, bacon and a cheese plate. It was a serene way to start our day. Paola tidied up daily and was so helpful if we needed more towels etc. The owners checked in twice and are truly invested in your happiness! "

- "This is a wonderful property that makes your stay in the Azores feel truly authentic. From the oceanfront view, beautiful yard with stonewall fence, access to natural pools, and walk-out balcony, it added to the whole experience for us. The house is cozy and rustic, but still offers some modern touches; WiFi, tv, dishwasher, and washing machine. The courtyard in front offered some extra security and it was nice having the house set back from the street. We didn’t use it for parking because there was always street parking available. We walked down to the natural pools a lot, and used the walkway to Lagoa. There’s great restaurants within walking distance and a grocery store very close by. Antonio is a wonderful host. He was at the home to greet us and was super accommodating by letting us check in early. He even surprised us by getting us some traditional Portuguese foods for the house. He was available for anything we needed, and is a top host. My only suggestions would be a couple more fans in the house. It was quite warm during our stay, and we had to move the fans around from room to room when we needed them. We didn’t mind opening the windows, but when there was limited breeze/raining, it was quite warm. Something for groups staying w/9 people; there are double beds in each of the 4 rooms. One also has a crib, and another has a trundle bed. Just be mindful of your sleeping setup since 4 people in the room with the trundle bed was a bit tight."

- "Church House was perfect for me and my three teen grandsons to explore Sao Miguel. There was plenty of room to spread out, inside and outside. The kitchen was well equipped, but be sure to buy ground coffee. There is no coffee grinder. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern and very clean. The beds are comfortable. The washer and dryer were great to have and laundry detergent is supplied. I did learn to empty the water reservoir in the dryer into the toilet after every load. I had never seen a dryer like that, but our host walked me through it. There are also instructions near the dryer, which I did not see—but they were in plain sight. During the day, the street is crowded with parked cars because the house is very close to the entrance of Terra Nostra. I had to park several blocks up the street many days and then move the car to the house. You will hear the church bells, but they are pretty and you get used to them. The grounds are lush and private and make a great place to eat meals or sit and read. The village of Furnas is very safe and people are friendly. I let the boys find their way to various bakeries and grocery stores on their own, which they enjoyed very much. I would gladly stay at Church House again and highly recommend it."

The holiday Villa Casa da Talha is located in the village of Sao Pedro Nordestinho in the western part of Nordeste district, Sao Miguel island, Azores. This traditional basalt stone house is an old country house that has been carefully restored, expanded, and, therefore, adapted into the comforts of modern life. The Villa rental is located in a 650 m2 plot of land, which has been turned into a garden, totally fenced.

The private holiday cottage has a double bedroom, a living room with a wood-burning stove, a completely equipped kitchen, including a traditional wood oven, and a bathroom. Outside this vacation rental has a covered veranda with a barbecue grill.

There was fresh bread and Dona Amelias (homemade) awaiting us. Both were amazing. The place is simple, cute and clean. We were ready for peace and quiet and that is what we got. I loved starting each day and ending each day staring out that big window at the landscape and the sea. We did not cook, so I cannot comment on the kitchen but it seemed stocked. The House of the Whaler is located in the village of Calheta de Nesquim, municipality of Lajes do Pico.
This small picturesque community has a population of only 342 inhabitants who mainly live from fishing and agriculture.
It is in this privileged environment of rural life and connection to the sea, located the house of the Whaler, where comfort and cozy outdoor area make this space an ideal place for those who want to feel close to the sea.
Enjoy our own "outpost" and feel an ancestor of local whalers to observe whales from the house balcony.

Curiosity:
The parish was the first center of whaling on the island of Pico. Today, you can still visit the house of the whaling boats and watch. In the parish there are bathing areas puddle of Mujas and Low Feteira.

- "House has very private location, its own parking space and wonderful terrace with comfortable wooden furniture (mentioning because in other places we saw a lots of plastic chairs). House has lots of light and only natural materials as lava stones and wood used for building and furnishing, kitchen is well equipped, spacious wardrobe in a bedroom, good reading lamp above the bed. Bathroom has enough place for toiletries , shower has a good water pressure. And of course the silence, privacy and the view!!! There are also some things to improve. Laundry machine is absolutely necessary, most of people go for hiking and want to wash their clothes. Because of the humidity hand-washed clothes will not dry properly. Personally for us the house was not clean enough on arrival and unfortunately the vacuum cleaner is broken. Only a very patient person is able to use it, meaning that you have to hold the two pieces of tube in the same time you are using it. But this does not change our opinion about the fact that it is the best place to stay on Pico island!"
