Royston is a gorgeous old Colonial residence which once served as home to Colonel Rowcroft. Colonel Rowcroft was a British Army officer who served in India during the time of the First World War.

As such Royston is abundant with history. The walls are clad with wartime memorabilia including old photos and hangings from the past 100 years.

The main house comprises of 3 fabulous bedrooms (all with televisions) and the adjoining cottage has one bedroom. The main house sleeps 6 comfortably and it is suitable for all ages. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms which are large and well equipped, there is also a powder room. The cottage comes equipped with 2 bathrooms.

The living room is where everyone comes together, with the warm fireplace and oversized couches - there isn`t a more comfortable place on earth. The technology is up-to-date with cable TV and music system. The dining room comfortably seats 8 and comes fully equipped with multi-course crockery and cutlery.

Upstairs plays host to a very relaxing space furnished with an old oak desk and library bookshelves. Reading chairs complete this perfect space.

We do not stock food items at Royston, however, there is a tremendous marketplace nearby. Our staff will be happy collect food items on your behalf and have a lavish meal prepared for you for a small fee mentioned below.

- Booking the chef must be done in advance, pre-payment can be made through the portal or via credit card payment link. The charge is INR 1000 / day for up to 3 meals. This is just the cooking fee, ingredients are additional.

Visitor Policy

Only the number of guests on the booking may enter the property. Should guests wish to have visitors they are required to make a request through the platform they booked on. A Government issued photo ID is required for each visitor and admission is subject to approval. Visitors are not allowed on property without prior approval.

Absolutely no visitors will be allowed after 10pm. Additional guests must be added to the booking.

- "Overall, the property was an excellent choice. It was clean, the resident managers were readily available and very friendly. It was comfortable for 7 of us. We used the cottage as well. This property is advertised as coming with chef services. The person who cooked meals was the property helper and he had limited resources. There was no CHEF on staff. The board in the dining room indicated charges of 1000 rupees a day for over 5-9 guests. We were overcharged (in dollars) and when I sent a text to the property management company about what happens if we decided not to eat at the home for several meals , will our charges be reimbursed, I never received a response. We only ate at home a few days as we were traveling most of the time. This is a good property to stay in but beware of chef charges - make arrangements for your meals or better yet, do not pay upfront - pay the house helper/resident manager onsite based on usage. "

Everything is a stones throw away. The house is walking distance(20 minutes) from the world famous Sims Park. This park was created in the 1800 with trees, that are that old. There is access to hotels, departmental stores, bank ATM and mobile phone shops within walking distance. Aarroh Villa is a special family home in the middle of Coonoor. It is just about one kilometer from the railway station, making it easy to reach. The house sits quietly, surrounded on three sides by green tea gardens. When you stay here, you will feel calm and close to nature. Even though it is peaceful, all the famous places in Coonoor are only a short drive away. You can enjoy a quiet weekend, wake up to the sound of birds, and watch the sunrise or sunset with a warm cup of tea in your hand.

The space
Aarroh Villa was built in the 1970s by my grandfather, who watched every part of its construction. Over the years, our family has loved and cared for this home. You can see this in every corner. When you walk in, you will find a soft green lawn and a garden swing. This is a great place to relax, listen to the birds, and breathe the fresh, cool air. If you go upstairs, you will find another swing on the balcony. From here, you can watch the sun come up in the morning or see the lights of Coonoor town at night.

The bedroom is on the top floor. It opens onto a big balcony with a view of the whole town. The room has a king-size bed, a large study table, and wide windows that let in plenty of light. If you have some work to do, the desk is just right for last-minute calls or for working quietly with a lovely view. There is also an attached bathroom and a dressing area where you can get ready for your day.

Besides this room, we have two more bedrooms that can be booked if you are coming with friends or family, and can accommodate upto 4 more people. If you have an extra guest, just tell us ahead of time, and we can arrange an extra bed for a charge of 1200/- per person. This helps us make sure everyone is comfortable.

While it is not attached directly to the bedroom, it is private and just a few steps away.
