Our Property ; Sapphire 535 is open and airy in the summer and warm and cosy in the off season. You can't help but relax in this award winning eco designed space. The best value for money on the island. Nothing but trees and the Sandy Straight are in your view from the balcony. Inside it's all island comfort. Everything you need for R&R or unwinding from a day hiking or touring around the island. The master bedroom is roomy and bright with a comfy queen size bed and plenty or cupboard and storage space. The second bedroom is a loft with a queen size bed. A built in ladder gets you to the private nest and it has plenty of room for the occupants. There are two pull out couches in the living room just in case you get those drop in guests. We do however recommend that you are comfortable with children using a fixed place ladder for access - we suggest children that are 8+ - but that is up to you. Linen and towels is provided.
Guest Access ; Several 3 car parking bays are within a short walk to the villa. We are a 5-minute walk to reception and the resorts amenities (as the villa is elevated in the tree line the walk does have a manageable hill in it). Depending on how you are travelling you will need to book a barge for your vehicle or the ferry if you are walking. All the resort facilities are at your disposal once you get here. Access your Villa via a lockbox and start your vacation once you are past the door. K'gari (Fraser) Island is a wonderful and special place and we are proud to make it available to you. We suggest you do a little research by searching K'gari Island, Queensland and Kingfisher Bay Resort so you can develop your own opinion and plan on how to enjoy it. There are walking trails, beaches, fishing and sports and recreational activities all at your fingertips. You can book any of them at the resort. Friendly informative rangers and island tours are all available for enjoyment. A Few Other Details ; Getting to the villa - Once you arrive at the resort drive to the one and only roundabout and head up the hill. The second road in the right is William Edwardson Lane. Go up William Edwardson Lane. Villa 535 is in the second set of villas. Park in one of the many bays and head to 535 . It is about a 30 metre walk from the parking space with no steps. Keys - the keys are in a lock box on a post near the door. We will provide you the code prior to checking in. BBQ - there is a BBQ and utensils however it is BYO Gas Bottle. The villa is air conditioned so if you want to keep it cool and comfortable on hot days (or warm on the rare cold ones) we suggest you keep the doors and windows closed to keep it at the temperature you like.

With Happy Valley being so central on the island, your days will be filled with endless activities. From swimming in the refreshing waters of Eli Creek, or picnicing at Central Station and Lake McKenzie. Then of course there are days of just throwing a line in along the beaches to catch the night's dinner. During the humpback whale migration, you can spend hours sitting on the beach just watching these majestic mammals frolicking & breaching. Truly a spectacular sight.

1. You must provide your OWN LINEN ( sheets & towel). A top & bottom sheet + pillowcase must be supplied for each bed used. THIS IS A HYGIENE REQUIREMENT. Should you decide to not bring linen, your booking will be cancelled.
ABSOLUTELY NO SWAGS OR SLEEPING BAGS ARE TO BE USED AS LINEN.

2. This unit is perfect for a family or group of 5 people only. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to that number. It is NOT a party unit and you are required to respect your neighbours and keep noise to a minimum after 10p.m.

3. The unit runs on a solar system with battery storage with a generator back-up. Only the electrical appliances that the unit supplies are to be used. TOTALLY BANNED are hairdryers, coffee machines, car fridges, frypans etc. Should these appliances be used, the system will definitely overload resulting in the units having no power. The on-site managers will have to be called out for which you could be charged a 'call-out' fee before power is restored.
MEDICAL EQUIPMENT , PHONE & COMPUTER CHARGERS are exempt.

4. SELF CLEAN. The unit is provided in a comfortable & clean manner. As there are no cleaners, you are expected to leave the unit 'as you find it'. We provide all cleaning equipment & vacuum cleaner.
All rubbish is to be removed & disposed of at the tip on departure.

5. The person making the booking must be one of the residing guests. A registration form is to be filled out at the shop on arrival before keys are issued.

6. We have on-site managers who live close by who are easily contactable & readily available should you need their assistance.

WORLD HERITAGE

K'gari/Fraser Island

"Stretching over 120 kilometres along the southern coast of Queensland, K'gari (184 000 hectares) is the largest sand island in the world. It was inscribed on the World Heritage List in recognition of its outstanding natural universal values:

as an outstanding example representing significant ongoing ecological and biological processes; and as an example of superlative natural phenomena.

The island is a place of exceptional beauty, with its long uninterrupted white beaches flanked by strikingly coloured sand cliffs, its majestic tall rainforests and numerous freshwater lakes of crystal clear waters.

The massive sand deposits that make up the island are a continuous record of climatic and sea level changes over the past 700 000 years.

K'gari features complex dune systems that are still evolving, and an array of dune lakes that is exceptional in its number, diversity and age.

The highest dunes on the island reach up to 240 metres above sea level. Forty perched dune lakes, half the number of such lakes in the world, can be found on the island. These lakes are formed when organic matter, such as leaves, bark and dead plants, gradually build up and harden in depressions created by the wind.

The island also has several barrage lakes, formed when moving sand dunes block a watercourse, and 'window' lakes, formed when a depression exposes part of the regional water table.

A surprising variety of vegetation types grow on the island, ranging from coastal heath to subtropical rainforests. It is the only place in the world where tall rainforests are found growing on sand dunes at elevations of over 200 metres.

The low 'wallum' heaths on the island are of particular evolutionary and ecological significance, providing magnificent wildflower displays in spring and summer.

Birds are the most abundant form of animal life on the island with over 350 species being recorded. It is a particularly important site for migratory wading birds which use the area as a resting place during their long flights between southern Australia and their breeding grounds in Siberia.

A species of particular interest is the endangered ground parrot, which is found in the wallum heathlands.

Few mammal species are present on the island. The most common are bats, particularly flying foxes. The dingo population on the island is regarded as the most pure strain of dingoes remaining in eastern Australia.

The lakes on K'gari are poor habitats for fish and other aquatic species because of the purity, acidity and low nutrient levels of the water. Some frog species are adapted to survive in this difficult environment. Appropriately called 'acid frogs', they tolerate the acidic condition characteristic of the K'gari lakes and swamps

Called K'gari by its Aboriginal inhabitants, the island reveals Aboriginal
occupation of at least 5 000 years, although it is possible that further
archaeological work may indicate earlier occupation. Early European
reports suggested that Fraser Island was heavily populated by Aboriginal people, but subsequent research indicates that there was a small permanent population of 400-600 that swelled seasonally to perhaps in the winter months when seafood resources were particularly abundant. K'gari contains many sites of archaeological, social and spiritual significance. Middens, artefact scatters, fish traps, scarred trees and campsites bear witness to the lives of the original inhabitants. European contact, initiated by Matthew Flinders in 1802, was sporadic and limited to explorers, escaped convicts and shipwreck survivors."

The Villa space:
The villa has a master bedroom with a comfortable queen-size bed and a second bedroom with new comfortable double and single beds, which sleeps 3.
The living area and both bedrooms are fully air-conditioned.
A flat screen television, with Fox TV, and a DVD player add to the quality of your stay.
The villa is self-contained with full kitchen and laundry facilities, featuring washing machine, dryer, deep tub and a clothes drying rack. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and also includes microwave and electric fry-pan. There is laundry liquid and dish-washing liquid supplied in sachets for your first initial few days. Please note the villa does not have any cooking supplies or condiments as the distant owner is not able to replace or replenish these items. Please bring all your cooking requirements or use the well stocked nearby general store.
Wifi is provided by the resort. Free WiFi is available in the reception and pool areas. Individual WiFi requirements for villas can be arranged on arrival at reception for a small fee. This applies throughout the resort vicinity. In the villa, mobile devices get optimum reception from the dining area near large windows and on the deck of the villa. An Optus tower provides WiFi coverage for the resort environment.

The Kingfisher Bay Resort facilities include restaurants, pools, heated spa and tour bookings. Take your own 4x4 on a World Heritage listed K'gari, (Fraser Island) adventure, go fishing, boating or whale watching- the options are endless.
A two minute stroll takes you on a scenic path through the bush to a magnificent entrance to the beach. Alternatively, you can walk down through the Resort reception and pool complex to the stunning lagoon, Wallum, area and onto the beach front near the Pier. The walkways in this environment are spectacular, - a hilltop lookout or longer coastal bank walk are within easy reach of the villa.

Guest Interaction:
Guests who stay in Sensational Satinay Villa 633, will be treated as any other resort guest with access to Reception or Housekeeping for any queries and all other resort facilities including tours, restaurants, the shop and beauty spa. Individual WiFi packages can be arranged with Reception on arrival for a small fee. Free WiFi is available in the reception area. Pool towels are available from reception.

The villa is privately owned and the owner lives out of town. While staying in the villa all queries must be directed to the resort. Phone '9' to reach reception from the villa phone. This provides access to housekeeping and maintenance departments or the porter or ranger service should you require them during your stay. When checking in, guests will open an account for any food and beverage consumption during their stay.

Environmental features:
The local indigenous Butchalla people are the original inhabitants of K'gari (Fraser Island) and they maintain a strong connection to the island. If you wish to learn more about the local indigenous culture, take the ranger guided walks to learn about bush tucker and other features of the natural environment.
Bird lovers are well catered for in this species rich environment. Viewings of a wide variety of native species occur throughout the day but early morning bird watching guided walks are a must for those interested in the diversity of wildlife on this unique island. Getting to and around the island:
A vehicle barge takes guests and visitors from Riverheads near Hervey Bay on a 45 minute cruise across the Great Sandy Straits to the Kingfisher Bay Resort. This is booked separately through the resort. From there guests can check into the villa and relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounding by foot for the duration of their stay or use their own or hired 4x4 vehicle to explore the vast K'gari, (Fraser Island) environment.
Tours of the island are also available and can be booked through reservations or reception.
There are sealed roads around the resort and available parking up above the villa. The roads around the island are unsealed and can vary in condition. Check available websites for more information on this. The resort can also offer advise on 4 wheel driving on K'gari, (Fraser Island). 4 wheel drive vehicles are for hire at the resort but there is a need to book ahead in busy times.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE YOU BOOK

1. You must provide your OWN LINEN (sheets & towels). A top & bottom sheet + pillowcase must be supplied to each bed used. THIS IS A HYGIENE REQUIREMENT. Should you choose not to bring linen, your booking will be cancelled.
ABSOLUTELY NO SWAGS OR SLEEPING BAGS ARE TO BE USED AS LINEN.

2. This unit is perfect for a family or group of 4 people only. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to that number. It is NOT a party unit and you are required to respect your neighbours and keep noise to a minimum after 10p.m.

3. The unit runs on a solar system with battery storage with a generator back-up. Only the electrical appliances that the unit supplies are to be used. TOTALLY BANNED are hairdryers, coffee machines, car fridges, frypans etc. Should these appliances be used, the system will definitely overload resulting in the units having no power. The on-site managers will have to be called out for which you could be charged a 'call-out' fee before power is restored.

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT , PHONE & COMPUTER CHARGERS ARE EXEMPT.

4. SELF CLEAN. The unit is provided in a clean & comfortable manner. As there are no cleaners, you are expected to leave the unit 'as you find it'. We provide all cleaning equipment & vacuum cleaner.
All rubbish is to be disposed of at the tip on departure.

5. The person making the booking must be one of the residing guests. A registration form is to be filled out at the shop on arrival before keys are issued.

6. We have on-site managers who live close by who are easily contactable & readily available should you need their assistance.

7. There is an AMBULANCE based at Happy Valley 24/7

Fraser View

Fraser View is located in Second Valley of Happy Valley on the Eastern side of Fraser Island and is only150 metres to the beach. It is the perfect central location to access all of the attractions and features of beautiful World Heritage Listed Fraser Island.

Fraser View comprises only two units, was renovated in 2011 and has a modern open style.

Fraser View Unit 1 is fully self contained.

Unit 1 has two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen bed. The second bedroom, the dormitory, has a queen bed and two sets of single offset bunk beds so this room offers beds for six people. There is also at least one trundle bed in addition. The bunks are designed so the head of the person on the lower bunk is not below the upper bunk.

On the ocean side there is a covered verandah with dining table and chairs.
There is also a large covered area on the western side with the gas barbeque and a dining table for those times when the south easterly is blowing.

Fraser View conisists of two units and is an ideal property for two families. The separate units allow privacy for each family whilst allowing the two families to share meals together on either the verandah on the ocean side or the covered area adjoining the barbecue.

Being Fraser Island power is supplied by a solar system that charges batteries providing 24 hour power through an inverter. This does limit what appliances can be operated. The power system will run chargers for laptops, cameras and the like but please do not bring hair dryers.

Linen is not supplied and most guests choose to bring their own linen. We do require that linen must be used. We define linen as two sheets and pillow cases and does not include sleeping bags. Linen can be hired by prior arrangement through the Fraser Island Retreat. Hired linen is collected with the house keys. Failure to use linen causes us to incur substantial additional costs which will be backcharged to the tenant. We also reserve the right to cancel a booking that does not use linen.
There are pillows and blankets supplied.

Fraser View is in the small community of Happy Valley which has limited resources. Guests are required to leave the house clean. To assist this, cleaning materials are supplied.
Failure to leave the house clean will result in an additional charge to the responsible guest.

The calendar is kept up to date as best we can. When an enquiry for a booking is sent we aim to respond quickly and once the booking is confirmed by payment of the deposit the dates requested are locked into the calendar. We require a deposit within 7 days to confirm the booking. The normal deposit is 50%.
Bookings through Homeaway meet this requirement.
Additional time to pay can be made by prior arrangement with the owners. Balance is payable 4 weeks prior to arrival.

Bookings through HomeAway are subject to the HomeAway Cancellation Policy.
However where impacted by border closures, or island closures such as during the Covid lockdown and bushfires in 2020, full refunds are provided.
