Bali was possible, but at a friend's suggestion, we chose Tioman Island. The Japamala Resort satisfied every hope, known and unknown. The sea and sand was all we imagined and needed, our room was creatively curated in a Polynesian style, the food was different and unique (and tasty!), and the staff were exemplary. Mike stands out in his role overseeing the hospitality, characteristically eager and kind, able and willing to do anything needed to make our time a pleasurable one. Everything from the restaurants to the masseuse to the watermen who helped with the snorkeling, we were grateful for each one. Do we recommend? Yes, and yes again! Washington DC "

Our guest suite is located in Kampung Juara on Tioman Island. Situated at the hillside on the northern side of Juara bay - with an amazing view of the whole bay - it's surrounded by pristine rainforest and beautiful nature. Peaceful and private area with a river separating the property from the common beach area. At high tide the river can be crossed with one of our shared kayaks - or just by wading through the water - and during low tide it's easy to walk in and out of the property.

The space
The house is a two-storey building and we have two units for rent - the guest suite downstairs and the bungalow (main house) upstairs.

Our guest suite is clean and spacious, with a modern setup. It provides you with a comfortable queen sized bed and a sofa bed, which could accommodate up to 4 people. A cosy living area with ceiling fans or you can switch on the A/C on a hotter day. The suite has a bathroom with a western toilet, a bathtub, sink and water heater. It also has a kitchenette with a microwave, toaster, kettle and cutleries, and is equipped with a mini refrigerator.

Stay outdoor on our large chillout terrace, soak up the sun and enjoy the stunning view or just walk into the warm sea for a swim.

Our guest suite is perfect for anyone looking for a calm and quiet place to enjoy their vacation.

Other things to note
There are two different ferry terminals from which you can go to Tioman Island, Tanjung Gemok Jetty and Mersing Jetty. There are ticket counters at both terminals and tickets can also be bought online. There are currently two ferry companies going to Tioman, Bluewater Express and Cataferry. We recommend buying your tickets in advance on either one of their websites. You should get off the boat in Tekek village, which is located on the west side of the island. Once in Tekek, you need to travel by taxi to Juara - the ride is about 30 minutes. The full directions to the property will be shared prior to check in.
