Charming western themed unit located in our barn. Yes, a real barn...cattle and horses on the property of 38 acres. Beautiful location 7 miles west of Walla Walla, but right in the middle of our best wineries. Besides livestock, we have regular visits from deer, turkey, geese, pelicans and occasionally a moose.

Simple. If you’re in Walla Walla and experiencing mile upon mile of utterly gorgeous countryside sounds good, when Grape Hill is available you stay here. Period. Experience a setting like no other- imagine a secluded beach with mile upon mile of panoramic views, now have it all to yourself, add cool interiors, a fine kitchen, and lots of great things to do within minutes. The inner artist & photographer & chef inside you will come out and want to play! The drive in to the center of Walla Walla is nothing. No bother at all to go wine tasting and then come home to change clothes and be right back in Walla Walla. Probably no more than going to your grocery store. The biggest difference is that you get to Grape Hill and everything slows down. Whether it is winter beside the fireplace watching the clouds through walls of huge windows or summertime dining out at Big Table or staying cool under shade with the misters and listening to the pheasants, Grape Hill is an incredible joy.

Rolling Palouse hillsides, open vistas, and seclusion. Simplicity to bring our shoulders down. True REST, the kind that recharges the batteries with JOY. This special spot keeps altering perceptions...such a huge supply of positive charge. When we visited Sedona we heard lots of talk about energy vortexes. Maybe Grape Hill is one of these?

It can be really hard to leave Grape Hill even for fine restaurants and lovely wine seven minutes away. The kitchen is quite robust (even a sous vide) and with the new grill it is hard to resist the pleasures of cooking-in.

Here, you can hear silence, and then that silence is filled up with sounds you could have missed...a hawks wing, a tractor off in the hills miles away. You see the light as it changes constantly and watch the movement of the wind on the fields. There is Wi-Fi and music and TV and hawks and pheasants and deer on the hillsides.

So...take the Jefferson staircase (alternating steps) upstairs and enjoy the king bed or stay downstairs in the queen, there are joys to discover in each. Great reading spots abound, plenty of places to set your wine glass.

The house is built with eight-inch framing and high insulation factors for green energy efficiency and passive heating/cooling. Except in high summer or winter months it is seldom necessary to turn on either heat or ac, but both are on automatic central systems. Winter months are especially gorgeous and the cold weather provides a perfect reason for enjoying the fireplace.

After finishing building the initial housing structure, we decided to occasionally rent and share this stunning beauty with others. It has gone a little wild, more than planned, but sharing the joy is good stuff.

(Please note that we love kids, but children and smoking inside are absolute no-goes. BTW...no discounted rents ever on first time rentals...please do not make offers. When you come back again, and you probably will, that's when we are happy to extend a hand. One other note- vineyard and wheat farming will include the occasional planting or harvest activity. Our vineyard manager or farm manager will also be by occasionally to check on grapes and wheat. They have no access for inside the house; you might catch a glimpse of them working. Also, we have added one security camera above the front door that is directed at the driveway.)

100 mile+ views changing constantly with the light and the weather. Grape Hill is custom and unique in every sense. Over the next several years, the house and farm will continue to evolve toward a long-term vision that continues to reinforce grace with this special landscape. Our first wine went into bottle in 2008. Big Table was built out in the fields. Call it our Grape Hill slice of Provence...

From miles out, Grape Hill fits in the landscape, a metal industrial agricultural building amongst the fields; perfectly normal sight set in the farm country. We didn't want to make the house the focus, not here at such a special spot.

Once inside, things change.

Think of a chic Tribeca loft or a San Francisco modern. Clean and minimalist, but warm and unpretentious, too. Polished concrete floors and 19 foot ceilings. Eight inch moldings. Two big baths with cherry vanities. A double-head granite shower upstairs in the big loft, an over-sized granite tub with shower downstairs. Flatscreen TVs in both sleeping areas with local channels and streaming shows from your favorite online channels. A big screen TV in the living room for hanging out and enjoying a special movie. Cherry cabinets, granite and glass, stainless steel appliances and unique lighting arrangements...and who would guess it?

Views in every direction are framed by tall windows looking out to the Blue Mountains, Dry Creek, and hundred year old farmsteads in the valley below. You can spend hours on the patio or walking the fields day and night. Amazing stars and awesome sunsets. Bring your passion. Bring new recipes to try. You're in for something special!

The Barn is named for what were once horse stalls and hay lofts. It is a classy restored barn that has been transformed into a beautiful guest cottage. The Barn provides you with all you need to stay for the weekend, a week or even a month. It comfortably accommodates 4-5 guests. The downstairs incorporates a comfortable living room and dining banquette complete with a farmhouse bench perfect for relaxing, reading, watching tv and dining. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready to use with stainless appliances, gas range, apron front sink, rustic concrete countertops, open shelving and lastly great coffee! The master bedroom includes a king bed with cozy linens and goose-down filled duvets. The loft is its own private retreat, complete with queen bed dressed in top-of-line linens. The main bath has a rustic tumbled stone walk-in shower and spa quality towels. One of our favorite parts of the Barn is the large private patio where you can BBQ on your own gas grill and converse with family and friends while sitting around the spacious outdoor table and fire pit. One of our goals for creating a unique vacation rental was to offer a variety of experiences within the rooms of the home. We converted the lion’s share of the garage into a home theater complete with a 70” TV, recliners, indirect lighting, hundreds of DVDs and an excellent surround sound system. We paid special attention to acoustics and sound insulation (there’s even an insulated exterior-grade door) so the theater wouldn’t disturb the rest of the house.

We wanted to make the living room a fresh and inviting space perfect for relaxation. We chose colors and materials that are vibrant yet serene. There are comfy ergonomic chairs and a huge picture window for occasional people-watching, and a desk and computer (another source for streaming music or movies, if desired).

Around the corner from the living room is our lovely kitchen and dining area. We built in separate space for coffee, tea, and wine – you can spend a morning watching birds out the back window, in the shadow of the Marcus Whitman Hotel. The full-scale kitchen makes you feel right at home with all the amenities you need to dine in.

A bright and cheerful hallway entices with a huge historic map of Walla Walla and interesting memorabilia – see how many historic places you can find just mere blocks away.

At the end of our “historic hallway” is the master bedroom, which offers a warm and inviting array of colors and materials, including a comfortable Queen bed and cozy chair and ottoman. The master bedroom has a 32” TV with cable, and a smart blu-ray DVD player as well. And there’s plenty of storage with the built-in closet and drawers.

We’ve named the second bedroom the “Library” because it features fully-stocked bookshelves (as well as many board games), and because it offers you yet another unique atmosphere. The built-in headboard anchors the generous Queen bed, while a quaint reading chair and lots of mood-lighting are perfect for a pleasant afternoon with a good book.

The bathroom features fresh soft towels, a full tub/shower combo with new fixtures, and a dual-flush toilet! We’ve designed the bathroom to be bright and airy, with a large glass-block window that shines on a vivid color palette and a shiny white shower surround.

THE EXPERIENCE...
There are so many ways to revel in your stay at the Liberty Bungalow. Start your day with a cup of coffee in the bamboo-fenced backyard. Then hit the town (on foot!) for brunch at Bacon and Eggs (for the savory lovers) or Maple Counter Café (for the huge waffle breakfast lovers). Check out the local merchants like Main Street Furniture Company or Book & Game – from spring to late summer, wander over to the popular Farmers’ Market on 4th and Main. Come back and fire up the backyard BBQ! There’s plenty of room to enjoy a meal outside, or in the kitchen dining area, or even in the theater (TV trays and all!). Later, you can kick back with a bottle of wine and enjoy a high-def movie in a movie theater-like setting, or curl up with a good book and cup of tea, or just relax in the living room.
Or…hit the town again (on foot!), and check out the pubs and wine-tasting rooms, or grab an ice cream cone at Bright’s on Main, or a coffee and dessert from the Colville Street Patisserie (amazing), right on the same street as the Liberty Bungalow.

THE TOWN…
As most people now know, Walla Walla is a wine destination. We love wine, too! And you couldn’t rent a vacation home closer to the myriad downtown tasting rooms than the Liberty Bungalow! Our in-wall wine rack is stocked with a complimentary bottle of local wine for your enjoyment. We are also coffee lovers, and we proudly furnish the Liberty Bungalow with our favorite coffee, freshly roasted at the Walla Walla Roastery – aptly- named the “Liberty Blend.”

A piece of Walla Walla history is just across the street, at the Kirkman House Museum, a lovingly restored 1880 home of a prominent local family. A block or two away is Whitehouse-Crawford (once a planning mill and furniture company, now a luxury restaurant) as well as the tallest building in town: the Marcus Whitman Hotel. The rest of downtown holds far too many fascinating buildings and stories to list here…luckily, you’re within walking distance of it all! A short drive puts you at Fort Walla Walla Museum, another goldmine of information about the Walla Walla Valley’s heritage and its people.

Beyond downtown, there are plenty of adventures for wine lovers (over 100 wineries call Walla Walla home) and history lovers alike, including nearby historic towns of Dayton, Waitsburg, and Milton-Freewater. Pearl Acres is located on the out skirts of Walla Walla with 5 of the top Wineries within 1 mile. At Pearl Acres you will find an array of animals located on the property. You can fish at two rivers within walking distance, watch the turkey and deer out in the front pasture and sit on the patio furniture and enjoy the view. You can enjoy a walk to the Historic Whitman Mission and view the best sunsets in the valley.

Pearl Acres is a ranch setting, with your backdoor opening into a barn. Out in the barn you will be greeted by horses that love to eat the treats you feed them!

The home is a remodeled barn that boasts 2 full bedrooms and two large baths. Washer/dryer, office space with a sit stand computer desk, hand made bar and décor. You will be provided fluffy towels, clean bedding, and hopefully everything that you need to be comfortable!

- "The airstream was almost brand new, had all the comforts of home and nicely stocked with dishes, etc. Note... all dining dishes are plastic, including utensils and glasses (except one set of wine glasses). You might consider bringing silverware/dishes if this bothers you and you plan to dine in much... the plastic utensils were pretty difficult to eat with and plastics hard to really get clean. All other things were great. Luxurious bamboo bedding! Great dining porch to enjoy meals outside. Owners had pigs close to trailer but no smell and fun to watch piglets in pasture. Nice shady area in the morning and enjoyed the windows open at night and waking to the sound of the doves and other birds and the soft sounds of farm animals. We are regenerative farming 30 acrea so the sounds were familiar to us. The farm/fields were a bit overgeown and it didnt look like much active farming/permaculture was happening as we had hoped to see, but we enjoyed our stay none the less. If you are looking for peace, quiet, rest, farm setting close to Walla Walla, this is it! Also Frog Hollow Farm is just around the corner wirh a great produce and gift market, upick veg and flowers, local food products. Be sure to check it out!"

For insurance reasons, we have to do the towing of it. We can rent to you: E-bikes, kayaks, a paddleboard, and/or a tent.

The space
The little camper is super cute. It has a table that you put down to create the comfortable bed platform. It has a sink, gas stove, and portable potty. If it is used in our driveway, the house bathroom and shower are normally available as well as much of the common areas. (Kitchen, yard, etc)

The camper is available to take or to use in the driveway. Normally, if the house is not too full with others, the guests can use the house full bathroom, kitchen and other common areas.

After a day of wine-tasting or adventure, come home to 2-7 happy dogs. The rooms are down the hall from our room. You can access your room without interacting with dogs, but you will hear them greet visitors, and maybe see dog hair in the common areas. Enjoy the open floor plan or 1/2 acre fenced backyard with a grill, fire pit and covered patio. Walla Walla is small, so everything is close by. Enjoy an easy e-bike ride through the scenic countryside. We are close to dining, hiking and kayaking.

The space
This listing is for just one room. If you need more room, we also have another guest room and two small camper trailers that can sleep 2 guests for additional rental. We can make these available on-site as needed.

If you are feeling adventurous, we also have several e-bikes, road bikes, mountain bikes, and kayaks available for a small additional fee each.

If you expect more guests for a special event then we can also set up a large event tent in the backyard along with a folding table and several camp chairs for additional fees.

Upon entry, you’ll find a small living room equipped with a sofa (which pulls out into a bed), a mini fridge, and a coffee maker. Traveling with little ones? This space works well for kids—we provide two pack 'n plays, along with children's books and toys to keep them entertained.

Please note: this is a basement unit, so the ceilings are low, and the bathroom is compact. The shower is small and includes a handheld showerhead.

The suite is located in our basement, just below our main living and dining area. We’re a lively household with two energetic kids and one very curious cat—so you might hear the occasional thump, laughter, tears or feline midnight zoomies. It’s all part of the charm!

We’re early risers and our day typically starts around 7 AM. While we do our best to tiptoe and whisper in the mornings, this is an older home with squeaky floors and walls that like to share secrets so if you’re a super light sleeper or planning on sleeping in late, this may not be the quiet retreat you’re looking for.

THE MAGNOLIA SUITE is the downstairs suite. There are also one other lower level suite and an upstairs larger suite that may host other guests. The other guests should rarely interact with you. They enter from the front and the other entrance in the back. You may cross paths as you enter your unit. You may hear the other guests however, due to the walls being thin. They may also hear you. So please abide by the quiet hours for this reason.
If you are wondering if there are guests in the other units, you may reach out to me and ask.

This home is conveniently located on a main thoroughfare between Home Depot and Wal-Mart. As a result there is road noise that can be heard from the kitchen and main bedroom. It is also directly across the street from Lion's Park. It is currently under construction but when it is done it will be lovely! (expected completion is late summer 2025).

INSURANCE:
As part of our effort to help you relax and enjoy your stay, we have partnered with Waivo to provide you with property protection. The cost of this protection has been included in your rental rate and covers you for accidental damages during your stay.

The Waivo insurance includes up to $3,000 of accidental damage coverage for property and contents damage. You are still responsible for any intentional damage or reckless damage. Thank you for understanding and respecting our home and furnishings.

Full access to the small backyard. The Magnolia Suite is below a 3 bedroom unit and is next door to a studio unit. It is a self contained private living space with a convenient separate entry with a key code and self check in.

Other things to note
No Pets and No Smoking:
This unit is in a house with 2 other units. There is a strict no pets and no smoking policy for the benefit of all guests with allergies due to shared HVAC system.

Quiet Hours:
There is also a quiet policy from 10-7 am for the comfort of all our guests. We thank you in advance by honoring this.

Outdoor Cameras:
Security cameras are at the entrance to the house for your safety. They may be recording video and audio.

Damage Deposit:
As part of your cleaning fee is included a damage waiver that will cover any accidental damage to the property during your stay. Intentional damage will be your responsibility.

This is a spectacular property that includes the yurt that we live in. Nestled in and amongst a grove of walnut trees and a small orchard, we have a very private setting for guests to enjoy. This upstairs studio is accessed by an exterior set of stairs and with additional interior stairs to bathroom. A lovely & comfortable open space with a queen size bed, small sofa, large eating area and small kitchen. Kitchen has an electric hot water pot, Breville toaster/convection oven, microwave, refrigerator, kitchen sink, dishes, bowls, serving utensils. Tea & coffee available. Just over 25 years ago we started with vacation rental business. We offer 30 minimum reservations, no reservations under 30 days. We cater to the professionals that need 30 to 180 days to accommodate their work environment.. there are very few in the valley that provides this service. You can still request shorter and we can refer you to my daughter who provides only short term accommodations.

We are located on the crest of a sloping hill overlooking the Blue Mountains. With neighbors at a distance makes this condo a very relaxing place to be with lots of green space around it.

From your parking spot you will enter under the grape arbor and to the right onto your spacious patio. This is all for your private relaxation and use. The only item you won't be able to use is the baraque.

Other things to note
If you are arriving at night you'll be greeted by lights that will be coming on as you walk to your suite. These lights are at on all four sides of our home for your security. Speaking of security, we have cameras outside at the front of the property and rear for your added safety and security. We have never had a break in or unwanted visitors. Making this a very relaxing place to be.

You'll have access to our fully equipped large kitchen, a dining table that easily sits 8+, card tables and chairs, 2 spacious living rooms with 4 reclining sofas, 1/2 acre fully fenced backyard and a back deck with a gas grill and fire pit.

During your stay
We enjoy socializing with guests but we will follow your lead on how much interaction you prefer. We want your stay to be what makes you happiest. We'll be staying down the hall in the master bedroom and will be living here. Guests can join us for meals if they contribute. We have both an indoor / outdoor cat and dog and usually 2-5 more dogs staying with us as part of our dog boarding and training business. They do not go into the guest rooms but are in the shared spaces and are usually very people friendly.

Other things to note
We pet sit and board and train. Therefore, there will typically be 2-7 dogs here during your visit. They are not allowed in the bedrooms and we typically are able to keep them fairly quiet. But we promise you will hear some barking and see dog hair.

In the event of cancellation, a 4% merchant service processing fee will be applied (except for Marriott and Airbnb reservations). To cover any damages not associated with normal wear and tear, a $1500 damage deposit will be collected 7 days prior to check-in. The guest authorizes Walla Walla Vacation Rentals to use the original method of payment, including credit cards, if any damages are found. Please note that the damage deposit does not limit liability, and guests are responsible for any damages in excess of the deposit. Unused damage deposits will be returned within 7 days of check-out, with a 4% merchant service fee applied (except for Marriott or Airbnb reservations)
