A trio of state parks are located just 13 miles southwest of Coos Bay: Sunset Bay State Park, Shore Acres State Park, and Cape Arago State Park.
Sunset Bay State Park offers extensive picnic and overnight camping facilities, with a spectacular half-moon bay boasting shallow swimming areas and sandy beaches.
Shore Acres State Park features the luxurious gardens from the original estate of pioneer lumberman and shipbuilder Louis J. Simpson. A fully enclosed observation building now occupies the site of Simpson's mansions, offering spectacular view of rugged seascapes, towering storm waves, and glimpses of migrating whales from December through June. The extensive gardens are home to carefully curated plants from around the world, featuring stunning seasonal blooms and a holiday light display from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve. If you plan to head out to our wonderful beaches along Cape Arago Highway (which dead ends at Cape Arago) there is a shortcut route from south Coos Bay to Charleston via Libby Lane. It makes Charleston 10 minutes away versus 20 or 30 minutes going through town.

A fully enclosed observation building now occupies the site of Simpson's mansions, offering spectacular view of rugged seascapes, towering storm waves, and glimpses of migrating whales from December through June. The extensive gardens are home to carefully curated plants from around the world, featuring stunning seasonal blooms and a holiday light display from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve. Shore Acres Holiday Lights has over 300,000 holiday lights with numerous light sculptures and 30 large trees decorated by community groups, including one by the City of Coos Bay.
One mile to the south, Cape Arago State Park has outstanding overlooks, hiking trails, picnic tables, and excellent opportunities for viewing tidepools life and marine mammals (whales, seals, and sea lions).
A hiking trail, which is part of the Coast Trail, connects the three parks.
If you plan to head out to our wonderful beaches along Cape Arago Highway (which dead ends at Cape Arago) there is a shortcut route from south Coos Bay to Charleston via Libby Lane. It makes Charleston 10 minutes away versus 20 or 30 minutes going through town.

Loved the throw blankets. We thought it was neat that you included Beach towels even though we didn’t use them. Some suggestions would be to get a bigger bed. We are not used to squishing into queen so my husband ended up using the extra pull out bed. Also I found the bed uncomfortable and had a back ache. Other than that, we LOVED everything. It was quiet, peaceful, and serene. The state parks with hiking and botanical gardens are very close by, and wet loved the steps going down to the beach. Thank you for a great stay!"

This home was built with environmentally friendly materials. Building with little impact on the surroundings was very important to us during construction. The myrtle hardwood floor in the kitchen and living room was milled on site which came from trees that stood where the house is now. Same story for the beautiful maple flooring in the ½ bath. All of the large beams and fir flooring came from two 4' thick 104 year old douglas fir trees which also stood and were milled where the house is now. The fir trees sprouted after the last forest fire that came through the canyon. One of our neighbors fell a sixty five year old redwood that was over six feet thick! We used some of it as a wonderful wainscot paneling throughout the house. All of the finishes used are no or low VOC. Surrounding the house is native vegetation, huge trees and a few herbs and spices for cooking.

You'll enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with labradorite granite counters. The kitchen island has a new five burner gas stove with a convection oven and warming oven. The island has plenty of granite and wood counter space. Hanging from the exhaust hood are stainless, non-stick, and cast iron cookware. We also provide shade grown fair trade coffee and a grinder, espresso machine, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, utensils, chef knives, glasses and frosty cocktail glasses in the freezer. The dining room table has a river view and can seat six comfortably. There is also seating for three at the island bar. From the kitchen you can visit with the folks in the living room thanks to the open floor plan. Beside the wood stove are two chairs and the futon couch with reading lamp. A CD changer, TV with a DVD player and VHS machine are in the downstairs bedroom. Bring your favorite videos or browse our selection of movies.

The property has 150 feet of creek frontage with great views of Glenn creek, the forest and distant cliffs. This 1908 cottage, rebuilt in 2005 after fire destroyed the top floor, is a cozy getaway nestled in the coastal town where Annie's grandfather was, long ago, the Mayor and mill worker on the bay. It's the perfect spot for the family vacation, writer's/artist's hangout or business trip.

From Annie's Cottage, the beach is as close as a few blocks or a short drive to the active fishing village of Charleston and the business meeting is less than a 15 minute drive no matter which direction you go in Coos Bay or North Bend, yet you have the feeling the moment you step out of the car and stroll up the stone path and hear the soothing sound of the water fall, that all the tensions of your active every day life are just no where to be found.

A day playing in the sand dunes or at the beach or taking a hike along the coast is perfectly ended by a soak in the jacuzzi tub and then lean back in the recliner overlooking the bay to watch the sunset and the occasional ship go by. We were close to dinning and outdoor fun or we could have stay in to enjoy the board games, basking in the sun on the bay, watched the tug boat go by, enjoyed a movie night and board games. Take a Historic Walking Tour of Coos Bay learn to Build a Boat or Tour the Dunes. Visit downtown’s Coos Art Museum for world class exhibits. Enjoy the nationally acclaimed Oregon Coast Music Festival in July. Visit the annual holiday lights display at nearby Shore Acres State Park in December. Coos Bay’s downtown farmer’s market on Wednesdays is very popular. With the ocean just a few miles away, the Bay, and abundant coastal rivers and forests, you can enjoy great fishing and a wide variety of outdoor activities.

Getting Around:
Downtown Coos Bay is within walking distance and there is limited public transportation.

A trio of state parks are located just 13 miles southwest of Coos Bay: Sunset Bay State Park, Shore Acres State Park, and Cape Arago State Park.

Sunset Bay State Park offers extensive picnic and overnight camping facilities, with a spectacular half-moon bay boasting shallow swimming areas and sandy beaches.

Shore Acres State Park features the luxurious gardens from the original estate of pioneer lumberman and shipbuilder Louis J. Simpson. A fully enclosed observation building now occupies the site of Simpson's mansions, offering spectacular view of rugged seascapes, storm waves, and glimpses of migrating whales from December through June. The extensive gardens are home to carefully curated plants from around the world, featuring stunning seasonal blooms and a holiday light display from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve. Shore Acres Holiday Lights has over 300,000 holiday lights with numerous light sculptures and 30 large trees decorated by community groups, including one by the City of Coos Bay.

One mile to the south, Cape Arago State Park has outstanding overlooks, hiking trails, picnic tables, and excellent opportunities for viewing tidepools life and marine mammals (whales, seals, and sea lions).

A hiking trail, which is part of the Coast Trail, connects the three parks.

If you plan to head out to our wonderful beaches along Cape Arago Highway (which dead ends at Cape Arago) there is a shortcut route from south Coos Bay to Charleston via Libby Lane. It makes Charleston 10 minutes away versus 20 or 30 minutes going through town. A map with the route highlighted is available in the apartment for guest use.

- Smoking anywhere on the property will result in forfeiture of your entire deposit plus can result in additional fees up to $500 for smoke removal.

Getting Around:
Downtown Coos Bay is within walking distance and there is limited public transportation.

A trio of state parks are located just 13 miles southwest of Coos Bay: Sunset Bay State Park, Shore Acres State Park, and Cape Arago State Park.

Sunset Bay State Park offers extensive picnic and overnight camping facilities, with a spectacular half-moon bay boasting shallow swimming areas and sandy beaches.

Shore Acres State Park features the luxurious gardens from the original estate of pioneer lumberman and shipbuilder Louis J. Simpson. A fully enclosed observation building now occupies the site of Simpson's mansions, offering spectacular view of rugged seascapes, towering storm waves, and glimpses of migrating whales from December through June. The extensive gardens are home to carefully curated plants from around the world, featuring stunning seasonal blooms and a holiday light display from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve. Shore Acres Holiday Lights has over 300,000 holiday lights with numerous light sculptures and 30 large trees decorated by community groups, including one by the City of Coos Bay.

One mile to the south, Cape Arago State Park has outstanding overlooks, hiking trails, picnic tables, and excellent opportunities for viewing tidepools life and marine mammals (whales, seals, and sea lions).

A hiking trail, which is part of the Coast Trail, connects the three parks.

If you plan to head out to our wonderful beaches along Cape Arago Highway (which dead ends at Cape Arago) there is a shortcut route from south Coos Bay to Charleston via Libby Lane. It makes Charleston 10 minutes away versus 20 or 30 minutes going through town. A map with the route highlighted is available in the apartment for guest use.

Want to try your luck at clamming during your time in Coos Bay? A selection of rubber boots, shovels, and buckets are available for resident use on a first come basis (usually not a problem).

You must get general delivery while at the apartment. Please don't have mail sent there. With the house and two apartments the post office gets confused so general delivery through the post office is best.

Be a VIP Guest in our 1956 converted Milking Barn. We're between Coos Bay and Coquille, Oregon. We have a large guest suite with a top-quality king size bed, sitting area, high ceilings with a window that looks out to our forest where you might catch sight of some dear or other wildlife. An attached spa-like bathroom with a mini frig, microwave and coffee bar. Choose a large gourmet breakfast or a "to-go" morning snack. The space
The second floor (main floor) is the sitting and eating area, where we have a large fire place and huge picture windows. The sliding doors take you onto the deck where you can view the night sky or just relax after a long day of exploring the Oregon Coast.
We have a large guest suite with a top-quality king size bed, sitting area and high ceiling with a window that looks out over our forest where you might catch sight of some dear or other wildlife. It has an attached spa-like bathroom with a mini frig, microwave and coffee bar.
There is a 55" TV with Dish Network satellite programming. We also have a high speed wifi signal. Laundry facility, hair dryer, iron/board available upon request. If asked, we can make a few recommendations for those wishing to do some crabbing, clamming, fishing, hiking, kite flying, site seeing, beachcombing, etc. There are also some great dining choices in our area we can recommend. Also, there is a Weber BBQ grill guests may use, and we can provide any needed BBQ utensils upon request. If you ask Ken, he may allow the use of one of his BBQ smokers.

You will have access to the main floor lounging and dining areas, also the second floor decks. The third floor is where you will have access to the guest bedrooms. There is a walking trail through the forest behind the house.

- Self Check In using digital door lock and private code. Check-In is any time after 4:00PM and Check-Out is by 11:00AM.

We are happy to welcome your well behaved, and house trained dog into our home! We do NOT accept Cats due to allergies. There is an additional pet fee of $50 per pet, as per my listing details. We will go ahead and request the fee via an alteration request after the booking is confirmed. Please accept ASAP to confirm authorization.
-Pets should not be left unattended at the property inside or outdoors. We do have kennels available on request for an additional fee.
-Please pick up after your pets in outdoor areas immediately.
-Pets are NOT allowed on furnishings or linens. Evidence of pets on furnishings or linens will result in additional cleaning fees to guest.
-Pet fee accounts for additional cleaning and normal wear & tear due to hosting pets. Pet fee does NOT cover damage or additional cleaning above and beyond reasonable
