- "The sub par rating has more to do with online expectations vs reality of the property. I understand sales, marketing and exaggeration but felt lied to. Being in town for an unexpected death of a parent unfortunately meant looking for a budget option and we were prepared for budget results until we read, what appeared to be a diamond in the rough, description of the property. However when checking in to the property the writing was on the wall. There were cops interviewing a witness to something that had recently just occured. Check in took almost 40 minutes of standing in line while a family of, about 12, with 4 rooms had to be given the same instructions repeatedly. My favorite part of this interaction was the receptionist telling the family "If you want breakfast it's served until 9. It's not free but it's hot." The overpowering smell of air fresheners in the hallway and common areas was beyond repulsive, reminding me of being trapped in an Uber with 2 too many air fresheners. Our 4 night stay offered about 16 hours sleep, to be fair partly stress, but mostly due to an uncomfortable bed and pillows that have left us itchy 48 hours later. I wake early, 5:30 a.m., and though the lobby with the fire place would be a good way to start morning contemplation but instead had to run errands and grab coffee first to allow the front desk clerk time to wake up from their nap. The final day of our stay, check out due to VRBO, was 12 noon but the knock of housekeeping started at 10 and continued every 20 minutes or so despite being told that we were leaving at noon. I would have gladly delt with all of the issues in stride had I not been lead to believe that this was a few steps above an extended stay. For the price, we could have spent $25 more per night for something far more superior but I naively trusted VRBO's allotted advertising. In the end, it is what it is. A cheap, dumpy, below average place to stay on a budget and knowing that I feel comfortable to say that if I'm looking for a deal in the future instead of comforting accommodations I can trust to find that at a Sonesta. Don't always believe even 50% of what you read. I guess that means, take this with a grain of salt as well. It might be just the right fit for you or even me, given different circumstances."
