We hiked in the High Tatras and in the valley ('Slovakia's Paradise' - a gorge walk interspersed with wooden ladders over otherwise impassable sections of the river and huge vertical metal ladders alongside waterfalls, it is not to be missed). We saw some beautiful animals, the highlight of which was when Michal took us into the national park to view huge wild pigs. His daughter saw a bear whilst we were there. It was our first trip to Slovakia, but definitely won't be our last. To say the chalet surpassed our expectations is an understatement. We stayed in Exupery, the chalet designed for one couple. It was huuuge. Downstairs was big enough to entertain six people. Fully functioning kitchen with all mod cons (coffee machine/dishwasher/etc). Big L-shaped couch with rugs and a flat screen tv with hundreds of films in case you want a quiet night in. Chalet also had very peaceful sauna and jacuzzi available on request. The food in the mountains was excellent and reasonably priced, around €7 for two beers and a plate of goulash. There are plenty of 'wellness centres' with a vast "
