- "We booked the Royal Lily through Hotels.com rather than as part of a wider tour. The whole experience was excellent from start to finish. I would strongly recommend travelling with Movenpick if you are visiting Egypt independently rather than as part of a tour. There are very few reviews for Movenpick Royal Lily so I'll try and give as much information as I can. Airport pick up We arranged a pick up via Movenpick, which meant we were on board and settled in by 10.30am. A bit pricey but worth it. Food and drink Reasonably priced drinks and a good selection. All meals and afternoon tea included daily. Excellent buffet selection. Staff Incredibly helpful and friendly. They helped us organise a trip to Abu Simbel on our last day, Guide There is a guide employed by Movenpick. Ours was Amr and he was excellent. Almost all other customers were on tours, so there was just us and two others with Amr. He was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Activities There is a good range of visits to sites, including to all the main sites. We had plenty of time to explore and it was all included in the cost. On board activities There was something different every night, with staff making a real effort to make the trip memorable. Facilities There are plenty of spaces on the boat to relax. The top deck is enormous with loads of beds around the pool. The pool was about 5 foot deep with a very shallow section at one end. I have seen comments that the decor is tired, but it was fine. "

- "Disclaimer: we were moved to the Steigenberger Minerva, so the review covers that ship. However, the Royale is most likely quite comparable as they are in the same class and are operated by the same company. Overall, we really liked this cruise. The ship is in great condition, felt like both the common areas and the rooms have been recently renovated (or are very well maintained). We enjoyed a lot just sitting in our room and enjoying the views of the Nile. The staff were friendly and attentive, especially our waiter and housekeeping. The food was varied and of good quality, better than at some resorts we stayed at during our stay in Egypt. They also made an effort to cater for vegetarians, by preparing vegetarian main courses separately for us. In terms of accessibilty to sights, our ship docked very close each time, felt closer than some other boats / companies. We did not opt in for the guided tours as they felt rather pricey, but this was not and issue as Kom Ombo, Luxor Temple and even Edfu were walkable (just be ready for the the hassling that is unfortunately unavoidable in Egypt - worst for Edfu as that's the one that is a relatively longer walk from the dock). In conclusion, we were very satisfied. The cruise beat our expectations after all the mixed reviews we have seen about these trips on the Nile. It was probably the nicest part of our Egypt vacation."
