The Highlands House uses design features and classic styling with the large group in mind.

The bathrooms are equally luxurious with two bathrooms having under floor heating.

The master suite has a king bed plus large single day bed overlooking the garden, a lovely sitting area around a slow combustion woodheater and en suite .

Bedroom 5 also doubles as a media room with gas fire heater, lounge suite and a large flatscreen tv.

The garden is nothing short of glorious. There are various “rooms” created with hedging, arbours, and various plantings of lemons, limes, apples, pears, grapes, roses and beautiful seasonal blossoms. Be sure to walk around to the front of the house and look back at the stunning stone wall and glass feature windows. There are beautiful nooks in which to sit and read, enjoy shade in summer and warm sunlight in cooler months.

There is an undercover bbq area and also a fully fenced swimming pool – perfect for summer entertainment (please be aware that Highland House has an Enviroswim freshwater swimming pool which uses a unique treatment technology, giving the water a slightly different appearance to chlorinated pools). If you would like the pool to be heated during your stay, it can be turned on for an extra cost as it is gas heated. If you would like to use sauna, it can be turned on for an extra cost. The Hot Tub is free to use. Outside the garden enclosure is a paddock with dam and some very curious and hungry vegetarian geese – be sure to send the scraps their way!

Located at the entrance to the Southern Highlands, you will enjoy this light filled home where you can sit by the fire, snuggle up under feather doonas, sleep in big comfy beds fully made up with fresh towels for the morning and head out for an adventure.

Wake up to a stunning sunrise and cook up a hearty country breakfast in the kitchen or prepare a bbq breaky on the sunny deck, prior to venturing out for the day. This country cottage is just 10kms to Bowral, known as the centre of the highlands, located on the Sydney side, in a small hamlet called Aylmerton. Originally the Station Masters cottage built in 1927, with a second storey addition in 1985, and renovations in 2016, it has obvious character and warmth that all our guests love. The cottage sits in a peaceful location on a no through road that overlooks the main southern railway line, a horse stud and has extensive rural views.

Perfect for your family or perhaps two, three or four couples wanting to get away and experience the local offerings of great cafes and patisseries, beautiful boutiques, bookstores, lifestyle and vintage shops. Visit some of the many local wineries on the food and wine trails, take a scenic country drive through rolling hills and purchase local fresh produce at the farm gates or spend a morning at one of the village markets to pick up some home-made goods.

This has been achieved with a water tank, low energy hot water system and enviro cycle septic system. The cottage makes use of recycled timber, windows and materials. Where will I be?

Eco Cottage is located within the Little Forest complex, a collection of 7 cottages spread across 40 acres of grounds. Your cottage will have its own private spaces, but please be aware that other guests may be around as well. Communal spaces include the lawns, gardens, driveway and trails, but you will have plenty of privacy as well. The Little Forest complex has a bush setting and is circled on one side by the Sydney - Melbourne railway line. As a result, trains are audible at times, and for any kids, part of the fun! Little Forest also has various throughout its 42 acres, but please keep children supervised at all times due to wildlife, unfenced dams and trains.

Eco Cottage is a charming and comfortable base from which to explore the Southern Highlands. Set amongst beautiful gardens and removed from other cottages on the property, Eco Cottage feels like a secluded and comfortable getaway.

How is the property laid out?

Eco Cottage is reached down a tree-lined country drive way. You approach the house through beautiful gardens and enter into a charming country kitchen and dining area. The front door opens into the open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, cooktop, microwave and a coffee machine that is compatible with Nespresso pods. The bathrooms leads off from the living area. Upstairs is the bedroom with queen bed. Outside is a wrap around verandah with barbeque and seating for four. The railway line is close by so you will see the occasional train go by.

Wi-Fi, Internet, Netflix or Pay TV will I have it?

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available and a password will be provided in your pre-arrival email. Please note that neither The Holidays Collection nor the owner can guarantee 100% that Wi-Fi will work, and no compensation will be payable if problematic. What about outdoors?

Eco Cottage is surrounded by lawns and gardens that are open for guests to use. The house is part of a larger 40 acre property which includes bush trails for guests to explore. Please be aware that there is an unfenced dam on the property so children must be supervised at all times.

Please note that the tap water in the community BBQ area is not drinkable. This water comes from the dam and is not treated, please do not drink it under any circumstances. The water in Eco Cottage is safe to drink.

Eco Cottage has reverse cycle air conditioning in the lounge area for year round comfort.

What about sheets, towels and other supplies?

High quality sheets and towels are provided at Eco Cottage.

The property has 5 acres of rambling lawns and gardens, which are constantly being upgraded or changed by the owners. Certain sections of the garden may therefore have works in progress during your visit. The main house and cottage (connected via a covered walkway) have 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, multiple living rooms, two fireplaces and lovely wrap around verandahs. Aylmerton House is a quintessential Southern Highlands experience!

As per the floorplans provided, the main homestead sleeps 10 across 5 bedrooms and 3 shared bathrooms. It also has 2 living areas, a large dining room, and a classic country kitchen.

The adjoining cottage sleeps 4 across 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. The cottage also has its own kitchen area. Note that the second bedroom has an external door and is not accessed from inside the cottage. This is evident in the photos.

Do I use the main house or the cottage or both?

You will have use of both the Main House and the Cottage. Both are connected via a covered walkway.

Please however take extreme care with young children on this property as the dam is NOT fenced.

Keeping warm or keeping cool?

During the cooler months and winter, the house has gas central heating, 3 fire places, electric heaters for the bedrooms, and electric blankets on the beds. In the warmer months, the house can be opened up to catch any available breeze. The sandstone walls also keep the main house very cool by comparison to other construction methods.

What about sheets, towels and other supplies?

Pottery Cottage started life as a pottery studio but has been lovingly converted into a comfortable, characterful cottage. There are two bedrooms, each with ensuite and bedding for 5 guests. The design of the living area and bedrooms makes extensive use of beautiful timber cladding and a double height ceiling with exposed timber joists. During the colder months, the fireplace makes this a wonderful cozy place to be.

Where will I be?

Pottery Cottage is located within the Little Forest complex, a collection of 7 cottages spread across 40 acres of grounds. Your cottage will have its own private spaces, but please be aware that other guests may be around as well. Communal spaces include the lawns, gardens, driveway and trails, but you will have plenty of privacy as well. The Little Forest complex has a bush setting and is circled on one side by the Sydney - Melbourne railway line. As a result, trains are audible at times, and for any kids, part of the fun! Little Forest also has various trails throughout its 42 acres, but please keep children supervised at all times due to wildlife, unfenced dams and trains.

How is the property laid out?

Pottery Cottage is reached down a tree-lined country drive way. You approach the house through beautiful gardens and the front door opens into the open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, cooktop, microwave, dishwasher and a coffee machine that is compatible with Nespresso pods. The bedrooms are at each end of the cottage, one with a queen bed and one single bed, the other with one queen bed. Both bedrooms have bathrooms have a shower, bath and toilet. The living area is located centrally between the two bedrooms. Outside is a courtyard with barbeque and seating for six.

Wi-Fi, Internet, Netflix or Pay TV will I have it?

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available and a password will be provided in your pre-arrival email. Please note that the tap water in the community BBQ area is not drinkable. This water comes from the dam and is not treated, please do not drink it under any circumstances. The water in Pottery Cottage is safe to drink.

Pottery Cottage has a slow combustion fireplace in the living area. All bedrooms have stand alone heaters and ceiling fans.

What about sheets, towels and other supplies?

High quality sheets and towels are provided at Pottery Cottage.

Toilet paper, kitchen soaps, guest soaps and some other supplies are also provided, but please be prepared to top up during your stay as needed. Regarding food, condiments and the like, please plan to bring everything you need. For safety and hygiene reasons, our houses generally do not supply food items.

*This home is a strictly no-smoking property. If any of our cleaners find any form of cigarette ash, butts or smell cigarettes in the apartment, we could issue a $500 fine.

*This is a domestic residence and we love our neighbours. We do not allow loitering or loud noise outside of the premises or inside of the premises. We ask for minimal noise especially after 9 pm.

*STRA Rules - By booking this home you automatically agree to all the STRA terms and conditions that are applicable to guests. You also agree that if you do break any of the house rules you will be asked to leave and no refund of the unused nightly rates will be returned.

*Check-in/Check-out - We cannot stress enough the importance of checking out on time. Our regular check-in time is after 3 pm and check-out time is prior to 10 am. If you wish to have an earlier check-in than 3 pm and we are able to accommodate your request, there may be an additional charge. If you check out later than 10 am, there will be an additional charge of $50.

*Under no circumstances are the following activities permitted at any of our properties: motorbikes, drones, dirt bikes, quad bikes, use of firearms or air rifles, fireworks.

*The Pool Rules:
- We want to make sure all our guests are safe – there are safety instructions / CPR instructions on the pool fence. Please make sure to follow these in case of an emergency.v Please ensure you are always pool safe when nearby the pool. Also, please do not take glasses down to the pool, there are dedicated plastic “crystal look” glasses in the kitchen for poolside use.

- Kids are to be supervised at ALL TIMES near the pool and Getawayz takes no liabilities for any accidents around the pool. You will be swimming at your own risk and we want to be sure everyone remains safe.

- Please keep the pool gates closed and don’t prop them open - they are there to protect children and/or pets getting into the pool area unaccompanied.

- Guests are required to shower before using the hot tub. Any oils, sunscreen or other items can build up and destroy the filter. If we need to empty and refill this due to this not being followed, you, the booking holder may be liable.

*Fire Ban - There is a total fire ban during the summer months. The lighting of mosquito coils, candles, campfires, our fireplace, etc are absolutely not permitted.

*It is the responsibility of guests to be aware of Extreme, Severe and Code Red fire danger days and all bush fire warnings. The most important thing to know when there is a fire in your area is to leave early. Never wait for the Royal Fire Service or any other help. Leaving early is the best and only preparation. Please refer to fire safety plan to follow.

*Security - The property is gated, and we ask that you close the gate once you have entered the driveway and when you are leaving. Please make sure the property is secured when you are out. Please close and lock all doors and windows before you depart, whether it’s exploring the fabulous Southern Highlands or departing from your trip!

*Emergency Contact - We ask you read through this entire booklet before you use any of the house items or before you call an emergency service (electrician, plumber, etc). Should a tradesman be called, and the issue be caused by a guest or one of their party, the guest will be liable for the cost of the trade. For Getawayz or one of our staff to attend, there will be a call-out fee of $100 AUD payable.

* Pets - We are a pet-friendly property. We ask all our guests to contact us for approval of pets before booking and include your request in the reservation form as there is a pet fee of $110 per stay to cover the cost of extra cleaning and disinfection. Please do not allow your pets to do on the furniture.

The cottage was once located up North of Sydney, cut in half (if you look closely around the house you will be able to see where) and driven on the back of a truck to its current location.

The previous owners owned a local nursery and planted the beautiful native gardens you see in the photos. The were also into meditation and art, thus, explaining the artist studio. The meditation room has been adapted into a cubby house for the kids to play in!

The home has recently had a 20 metre heated lap pool and hot tub installed, a brand new kitchen as well as other additional items added to the home - it's the perfect city escape. The train station is only 5 minutes from the property as well, for those without a car!
Yerrinbool is at the top of the Southern Highlands and a stone throw away from everything you could want.

Oatley Cottage was originally built in 1910 in the Sydney suburb of Oatley. It was transported to Little Forrest in 2009 and lovingly restored. The cottage has a wonderful homely feel to it and is a wonderful retreat to come home to after a day exploring the Southern Highlands.

Where will I be?

Oatley Cottage is located within the Little Forest complex, a collection of 7 cottages spread across 40 acres of grounds. Your cottage will have its own private spaces, but please be aware that other guests may be around as well. Communal spaces include the lawns, gardens, driveway and trails, but you will have plenty of privacy as well. The Little Forest complex has a bush setting and is circled on one side by the Sydney - Melbourne railway line. As a result, trains are audible at times, and for any kids, part of the fun! Little Forest also has various throughout its 42 acres, but please keep children supervised at all times due to wildlife, unfenced dams and trains.

Oatley Cottage is a charming and comfortable base from which to explore the Southern Highlands. Period details such as the beautiful original floorboards and wall cladding have been maintained and matched with modern amenities like the large country kitchen and wrap around verandah to create a wonderful comfortable home.

How is the property laid out?

Oatley Cottage is reached down a tree-lined country drive way. You approach the house through beautiful gardens and enter into a charming country kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is equipped with a freestanding oven/stove, microwave, dishwasher and a coffee machine that is compatible with Nespresso pods. The front door opens into a light, timber lined hall way off which you will find the three bedrooms. At the end of the hallway is the open plan living and dining area with large country kitchen. The bathroom and laundry lead off from this open plan area. The verandah runs the length of the back and one side of the house. There is a barbeque and plenty of outdoor seating out there to enjoy in the warmer months.

Please note that the tap water in the community BBQ area is not drinkable. This water comes from the dam and is not treated, please do not drink it under any circumstances. The water in Oatley Cottage is safe to drink.

Keeping warm or keeping cool?

Oatley Cottage has a slow combustion fireplace in the living area, as well as reverse cycle air conditioning. There are ceiling fans in the living room and all bedrooms.

'The Al' is a charming, recently renovated getaway located in Aylmerton, the gateway to the picturesque Southern Highlands. Located on a 1/4 acre block, the property has spectacular rural views and homes native birds in its many trees. Do not be surprised if you receive a visit from one of the many King Parrots! Totally private, the property is located a short 5 minutes away from Mittagong and 10 minutes from Bowral.

'The Al' is of Colorbond construction and is newly renovated. When you enter the property, you are greeted with a spacious combined lounge/dining/kitchen space with a beautiful vaulted ceiling, offering plenty of space and natural light. Staying in Angas Carriage is a truly unique and enjoyable experience. Angas started life as a passenger train in the 1920s and has been loving restored and converted into accommodation for up to 9 guests. The original woodwork and compartment layout make this a beautiful place to be. Modern updates including insulation, kitchen, bathroom, heating and air conditioning ensure that Angas remains comfortable for guests all these years later. This is an accommodation experience that you will not forget.

Where will I be?

Angas Carriage is located within the Little Forest complex, a collection of 7 cottages spread across 42 acres of grounds. The carriage does have its own private spaces, but please be aware that other guests may be around as well. There are two other cottages in immediate proximity to the carriage so please do expect to occasionally see your neighbours. Communal spaces include the lawns, gardens, driveway and trails, but you will have plenty of privacy as well. The Little Forest complex has a bush setting and is circled on one side by the Sydney - Melbourne railway line. As a result, trains are audible at times, and for any kids, part of the fun! Little Forest also has various trails throughout its 42 acres, but please keep children supervised at all times due to wildlife, unfenced dams and trains.

Angas Carriage is a truly unique accommodation experience. For train lovers young and old, staying here is a wonderful experience. Even without an interest in trains, the modern appointments and beautiful interiors make this a great place to base yourself in the Southern Highlands.

How is the property laid out?

Angas Carriage is reached down a tree-lined country drive way. You approach the carriage across a lawn and enter up the steel stairs. You enter into the kitchen and dining area. A hallway runs the length of the carriage, off which you will find the 7 bedrooms - one with a double bed and single bed, and six single bed compartments. The kitchen has a bar fridge, convection microwave and a small gas stovetop. There is also a coffee machine that is compatible with Nespresso pods. Cooking equipment is supplied. There is a bathroom with shower and toilet that is at the kitchen end of the carriage. At the opposite end is a separate toilet. The windows look out onto the landscaped gardens and surrounding bush.

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available and a password will be provided in your pre-arrival email. Please note that neither The Holidays Collection nor the owner can guarantee 100% that Wi-Fi will work, and no compensation will be payable if problematic. What about outdoors?

Angas Carriage is surrounded by lawns and gardens that are open for guests to use. The house is part of a larger 40 acre property which includes bush trails for guests to explore. Please be aware that there is an unfenced dam on the property so children must be supervised at all times.

The property consists of 7 unique cottages set on 40 acres of lawn, gardens, waterways and bush. When you book the entire property you have exclusive access to all 7 cabins, giving you 20 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, enough to accommodate up to 44 people. A number of the cottages are pet friendly and the extensive outdoor area make this an ideal location for outdoor activities. You can even meet the resident Shetland ponies and alpacas.

Where will I be?

Nestled in Alpine within the scenic Southern Highlands, Little Forest spans 42 acres of natural bushland. Just a short drive from charming villages of the Southern Highland villages including Bowral, Berrima, and nearby Colo Vale, and the popular wedding venue Grow Wild, this peaceful retreat features seven distinctive cottages. Some cottages are tucked away in more private locations, while others are situated closer together. The Sydney–Melbourne railway line runs along one edge of the property, so passing trains can occasionally be heard—often an exciting feature for children! Guests can also explore a network of trails throughout the grounds, though children should be supervised at all times due to the presence of wildlife, unfenced dams, and nearby trains.

Lavender Cottage, Studio Cottage, Orchard Cottage, Pottery Cottage and Angas Carriage are all in close proximity to each other and form the central focus point of the property. Eco Cottage are Oatley Cottage are slightly removed from the other cottages and provide a little more privacy for occupants.

There are two Shetland ponies, Bootie and Trumbie, and two alpacas, Augustine and Freda on the property for you to meet. Most of the cottages have generous verandahs or courtyards with barbeques and outdoors seating.

Please note that the tap water in the community BBQ area is not drinkable. This water comes from the dam and is not treated, please do not drink it under any circumstances. The water in the Cottages and Angas Carriage is safe to drink.
