Located in a quiet hamlet in the heart of the Limousin is this detached two-bedroom stone gite with private heated swimming pool.

On the ground floor is a large open plan lounge/dining room with beamed ceilings and tiled floors which always stay cool in the heat of the summer, a wood burning stove (for those cooler evenings), a spacious fully fitted and well-equipped kitchen and a shower room/wc. There is also access out to the rear sitting/dining area and garden.

Upstairs is a double bedroom with king size bed and a juliette balcony. The room overlooks the pool and has views across the fields towards Lussac-les-Eglises. There is also a triple bedded room plus a bathroom with bath and shower attachment. The house has free wi-fi, UK satellite TV and a DVD player.

Outside, is the 10x5 in-ground swimming pool with pool alarm (the pool is exclusively for the use of gite guests), a terrace with table and chairs for six, a barbecue and a large, private lawned area ideal for al fresco meals, games or sunbathing. There are loungers plus a selection of pool toys and outdoor games, including a table tennis table. The pool is heated from the end May to the end of September.

The gite is surrounded by beautiful countryside and there are plenty of places to walk or cycle and enjoy the peace and quiet. You will also find opportunities for fishing, golf and water sports nearby plus some charming old villages and interesting markets to visit.

The area around the gite is alive with birds. Apart from the native species we have many summer visitors including hoopoes, golden orieles, nightingales and shrikes. In the spring and autumn we are treated to the magnificent sight and sound of thousands of migrating grey cranes. During the summer months the garden and surrounding area are also filled with butterflies. Apart from the birds and butterflies, we regularly see deer and red squirrels in the garden and we also have a healthy population of hedgehogs. If you are lucky you might just see a pine marten too.

If you enjoy star gazing, the night skies above the gite are beautiful with the Milky Way often clearly visible.

Our local village, Lussac-les-Eglises, is approx 1 km away and has a boulangerie, small Spar shop, pharmacy and tabac. The nearest supermarket (Intermarche) is in Magnac Laval, which is a 15 minute drive away.

We live on site in the barn adjacent to (but separate from) the gite. Please be reassured that we will respect your privacy at all times. However, we will always be available to help with any problems and to answer any questions you may have.

Please note: the gite is located in a very quiet rural area - it is definitely not a metropolis! Our nearest small towns with supermarkets and restaurants are Magnac Laval and Le Dorat, which are both 15 minutes drive away. Bellac, La Souterraine and Montmorillon are all within 30 minutes drive and have a wider selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and other amenities.

This charming house with extensive garden is ideal for a family break or even an escape for a couple. Two sitting rooms and 3 bedrooms (sleeps up to 8). Situated in the pretty village of Brigueil Le Chantre in the Vienne, Poitou Charente. There is a large pop-up pool for use in the garden, plus games such as croquet. A gorgeous patio, with gas fired BBQ means you will never want to leave the house, but the area is full of things to do. The ancient medieval town of Montmorillon is 15 mins drive away, with more restaurants, bars, twice a week market, supermarkets, open air swimming and a summer packed with fun festivals such as its popular music festival. Other attractions include the water resort at Chaillac with swimming lake, beach, water slide and pedalos. There are many chateaux open to the public. The area is brilliant for walking & cycling. We alternate our time between reading and paddling in the garden, and taking day trips in the surrounding area. A favourite destination is Lac de Saint Cyr, where we spend the day with a picnic. Or we head to Lathus for an action packed day with the CPA Lathus: riding, kayaking, etc. The house has an open fireplace, so how about an autumn visit to enjoy the wonderful colours of the Vienne?

Our visit was in February so not really sitting in the garden but lots of books and games to keep us amused. The owners, Kate and David bent over backwards to help with the heating when we first arrived and continued to be more than helpful when we ran out of wood. Juergen who looks after the property arrived immediately with a fresh supply of logs and helped load them into the wood store in the garden. If you are looking for a good sized gite, well equipped and with a decent sized garden I would without hesitation recommend this property."

We are in rural France, with plenty of walking, cycling or just relaxing by the pool. We have a one bedroom gite which can sleep 4 people, there is a kings size bed, sofa bed and single bed can be provided. There is the private en-suite shower room with w/c, there is a walk in wardrobe. Views over the surrounding farmland. The communal area is light and spacious with a lounge area with wood burner, dinning area and fitted kitchen with dishwasher. There is access to a washing machine and outside line for drying clothing on. Bedding and towels are supplied, just supply your own swimming towels. The pool is seasonal as it isn't heated, it is fenced. You are welcome to use the garden but due to being a working small holding please respect the animals that live here. There is an outside terrace, which is private for your use only where you can sit and eat your meals, it over looks the pool area.

La Dorat also has a train station where you could hop on a train to Paris .The Medieval town of Montmorillon is a 25 minutes drive away and is very pretty to walk around and like La Dorat has supermarkets, banks, a cinema, restaurants and also a swimming pool. You can also use this as a base and go further a field to Limoges, about an hour drive or Poitiers which is an hour 15 minutes drive but well worth a walk around as it has lovely buildings, cathedrals and lots to do. There is so much to do in the area of Haute Vienne you will find it hard to choose.

Our French cottage is set in the beautiful Limousin countryside where the sights and sounds of nature abound yet is also within easy walking distance of our local town with all services.
With a combination of French antiques and modern furniture, our cottage provides a comfortable base for your exploration of this beautiful part of France. We have recently added new sofas to our living room and to our TV room. You can access both French and English TV on our modern television.
There is one double bedroom with queen bed downstairs. The attic is a large space with one double queen bedroom area and one twin bedroom area, semi-divided. Our second bathroom is on this floor.
