- "I personally don't like having to carry 25 kg of linen on my back across 400 m, and then spend one hour putting the linen on the beds, coming back to the reception because they did not give us the right set, puzzling over which linen goes where, etc. Sure they provide caddies, but they seem to always be taken or in a state of disrepair. A few hours after we settled in at our room, which was spacious and well appointed with quality materials, and anything you might need on a trip, Vincent cooked us a country dinner: homemade apéritif to go with homemade pate foie gras, foie gras entree with freshly picked vegetables from their garden, local cheese and wine, followed by red berries from their strawberry farm. It's delicious! We talked hours over the meal. A few hours ago we didn't even know each other's existence! Vincent provided excellent local tour information and suggestions, which we took and had great time. Mingling with the hosts and their fellow villagers at a local bar watching World Cup soccer game between France and Belgium was a unforgettable event. Strolling with Xavier in the farm, relaxing in the gorgeous swimming pool, and talking with our hosts ended up taking away some touring time, but we wished to just spend more time in the farm! It's great place to enjoy nature, country life, relaxing and renew, be it by yourself, or with your spouse, or entire family! "

Butterfly Cottage is centrally located in the most desirable part of the Dordogne - the Perigord Noir. Located in a hamlet on a no-through-road (no passing traffic) the location is very peaceful and enjoys beautiful views across the village and the surrounding countryside. The Cottage is just minutes from fairytale settings of Chateau de Commarque and Les Jardins de Marqueyssac, historical sites of Font de Gaume, Lascaux Caves, Chateau Castlenaud and medieval villages of Beynac, Les Eyzies and Sarlat-la-Caneda.

The cottage looks out onto a large courtyard with a beautiful Mulberry tree that sits in the centre. - "It was a really fun stay. The barn is just excellent. We even used the wood burning BBQ. Just be prepared that it is a barn on a farm. There were some ants in the walls, which needed to be driven away, as well as there were quite a bit of flies from the horses. There were several horses on the property and the flies just were all over them. So, we got some of the flies too. There is an air conditioner on the sleeping level, which were quite nice. Patrice was very nice and relaxed just about everything. We would go back again in a heartbeat."

- "We had a lovely stay at this wonderful home. We did a lot of research to get someone that had the feel of the area with character and charm and this home definitely nailed that. Very homely, traditional decor and furniture but all the necessities inside and outside the house you would need. Amazing views from the house/balcony was a real highlight, the best from all we looked at. House was clean, all practical things thought of with towels, linen, kitchen equipment.Nicole very kindly kept the pool open for us even though it was the last week of October and with sun every day with 23/24C it was much used! One thing to note - the location on VRBO map has the house in central Sarlat but it’s not, the listing rightly says it’s 3.5k outside Sarlat, so not sure why the map location is different. Also we wanted to be south of Sarlat near the Greenway cycle route and so we asked which side of Sarlat it was and were told by Louis, the booking assistant, that it was north of Sarlat and so we don’t book for the first few weeks of exploring but upon deciding to book anyway, discovered that it’s actually dead west of Sarlat which was better for us in the end. Otherwise all the communications were great and Nicole the host was amazing and helpful with lots of things and wanting to make our stay comfortable. We hope to visit again for sure!"

- "Unseasonably cold and wet weather rather depressed our stay in this lovely cottage. The cottage was exactly as described and the owners extremely helpful, even carrying our baggage up the stairs. The house was probably not ideal for our age group (over 80) due mainly to the extremely steep stairs to the bathroom and bedrooms. We also found the uphill walk to the free parking quite taxing. - "A very pretty comfortable house situated in a quiet corner on a hill with a lovely view, surrounded by woods and farmland. We were contacted in advance by the proprietor to ascertain the time of our arrival and were delighted to arrive to a warm welcome, a fire blazing in the hearth and even a decorated sapin. Alain and Martine ensured we felt at home and were anxious to know if anything was required in the way of kitchen equipment. The kitchen was very well equipped but when we did ask whether a more unusual item could be borrowed, it was provided immediately. The house was warm and comfortable throughout. As it faces south, on sunny days we were able to eat out on the patio, even though it was winter. The nearby village of Villamblard has a good bakery, a Spar grocery shop and we would recommend a visit to the Clovis Reymond distillery. Not surprisingly the district is very quiet in winter but drives to St Astier and Monbazillac and the market at Vergt are worthwhile. We could have stayed forever and will certainly try to return. - "My stay at Tree Tops exceeded all of my expectations. It was by far the best experience I've had at a VRBO property. The property itself was beautiful, quiet and serene. Over the top gorgeous. The grounds and surrounding countryside were unbelievably picturesque. Very walkable, which I did a few days during my stay. The gite was well appointed, cozy and perfect. Everything a person would want. The staples of eggs, milk, juice, cheese, butter, baguette, candy and champagne were especially appreciated after a long travel experience. Tree Tops was just what I was looking for, and then some. The owner Vincent was a most gracious host. I also had the opportunity to meet his daughter, son-in-law, and their beautiful baby. They were most welcoming and equally kind as well. I was invited for some (very good) wine and lovely conversation on the terrace several times during my two week stay at Les Bruguettes, the main house next door where Vincent lived. Vincent was also helpful in suggesting and securing dinner reservations many evenings at some great restaurants. That was so helpful, as we didn't have a clue on where to go, and what places were open on what days, and the hours of service. My son, and his Fiancé stayed at the Owl Barn gite next door the first week. My friends stayed there the second week. We all had such a wonderful time! Lest I not forget to mention I was also afforded the opportunity of a most enjoyable and fun ride in Vincent's fabulous Porsche! What a highlight! We visited several places but also loved just sitting on the terrace with the view of the river, bird song and the sound of the water and walking through the glorious garden.
