We left our car in a metered space (without paying) for about 45 minutes while we were checking in and received a ticket. This pretty traditional stone cottage has a private balcony surrounded with wisteria, and looks out over the gardens and the courtyard, with views of the forest covered hills, often dotted with hot air balloons floating by.
Its private courtyard terrace has a table and chairs and a BBQ, and beyond is a private garden area with a picnic table and a bench-swing.
Beyond the garden you will find the large shared swimming pool, the play area, and additional lawns which are fenced around the perimeter.

Enter from the courtyard into a large kitchen with a glass door leading onto the balcony, and a second door which leads to the dining room and living area, with a wooden floor, original beams and stonework. This beautiful property is renovated to a very high standard. Quality fittings and tasteful decoration. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It offers comfortable accommodation for up to 6 guests. This unique property is situated in the famous Place de la Rode. A peaceful and quiet private garden. Shops and restaurants within a few metres. Maison Boyer was the home of a noted writer and "compagnon", Abel Boyer. The recent renovation has managed to combine modern facilities with original features such as the thick stone walls and fireplaces, exposed beams, wooden floors, and shutters.

La Maison Boyer also has the added advantage of having a ground floor bedroom and shower room, extremely rare in this stunning bastide village.
Throughout, the house has a mixture of modern and antique furniture from around Europe.

A door leads through into the large dining kitchen, with its period tiled floor. The new kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, freezer, electric oven and induction hob, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle, microwave oven and toaster. A solid wooden dining table and 6 chairs provide comfortable interior dining. This delightful room benefits from the open aspect provided by wide French windows opening onto the terrace.
From the kitchen a door leads to a lobby which in turn gives access to:
A ground floor double bedroom, with glass doors opening onto the Place de la Rode. The bedroom offers two single beds that convert to a king size bed, to suit guest preference. There are bedside tables with lamps, a Moroccan rug, a wardrobe and chest of drawers. There are folding chairs and a table for sitting out in the square to bask in the evening sun.
An adjacent shower room, with a walk in shower, wc, heated towel rail and vanity unit. This doubles as an ensuite facility for the bedroom and for daytime general use. The ground floor layout is suitable for those with restricted mobility.

First Floor.
From the lounge a wooden staircase leads to the first floor, where you will find:
The spacious master bedroom, with traditional stone fireplace, exposed beams, and solid wooden furniture. The king size bed has a memory foam mattress. A door opens onto a long balcony which overlooks the rear garden and offers view over village rooftops to the Dordogne countryside. A table and chairs provides a great spot for morning coffee and croissants.
The master bedroom has en suite bathroom which is bright and airy with a free standing traditional bath, walk in shower, heated towel rail, vanity unit and wc.

General.
Internet wifi access throughout. Bed linen and towels are provided, and the beds are made ready for your arrival. Maison Boyer has an oil fired central heating system, which along with the wood burner in the lounge makes for an extremely comfortable house all year round. A separate ‘buanderie’ in the garden houses the boiler, a washing machine and a second fridge.

EXTERIOR DESCRIPTION:
The house benefits from an enclosed rear terrace and flower garden area, completely private due to its high position, despite being in the centre of the village. An all important jacuzzi offers an ideal spot for a cooling dip in the summer or a luxurious and warming experience in winter. A perfect way to relax after a day’s sight-seeing. SETTING AND LOCATION
Maison Boyer is situated in the Place de la Rode, in the heart of the beautiful bastide village of Domme. One of the classified Plus Beaux Villages de France, and recently voted the most beautiful village in the whole of France by the UK's Daily Telegraph, Domme offers a selection of excellent restaurants, all within easy walking distance of the house. Step out from the front door into the square for a coffee or a beer. Take your pick from the Bastide’s many cafes and restaurants – or shut the front door and enter a different world of relaxation and peace and quiet in the house or garden.
Located in the ‘Golden Triangle’ of the Perigord Noir, Domme is perched above the Dordogne river, and all the major tourist sights of the Dordogne such as Sarlat, La Roque Gageac, Castelnaud and Beynac, are within a 20 minute drive.
Bergerac or Brive airports are each just 1 hour’s drive, and the nearest motorway, the A20 at Souillac is just 30 minutes away. Bordeaux and Toulouse airports are approximately 2 hours.

- "What more can I say? Everything was fantastic. Roddy was in touch promptly after our booking to answer our questions & give us good directions to find the property. Catriona was there to greet us on arrival & show us around. She also kindly provided us with a very welcome bottle of wine & food basics sufficient for a first meal. Unusually for a holiday rental, there were lots of 'bits & bobs' such as spices & oils in the kitchen cupboards for our use. That made our self-catering a lot easier. The house was exactly as described, if not better. It's a beautiful old house with many original features, including the peephole in the front door which caused us much amusement! The property was spotlessly clean with everything you could want. The bathrooms were lovely, with great showers. And oh my goodness, the jacuzzi! We spent a lot of time in it, just relaxing with a drink & contemplating life. Domme is a lovely village. Stunning views & architecture, with narrow streets & pretty cottages. There were plenty of restaurants but sadly most of these were not yet open for the season when we stayed in the first week of March. We ate in the Vietnamese restaurant which was charming & high quality. The little supermarket by the Tourist Office was very handy for bread etc, but again the more specialist shops were still closed. Probably saved us a lot of money! We were unfortunate to be in Domme during one of the wettest weeks for a long time but we still found loads to do locally. Plenty of chateaux and gardens to visit, and if you have a wet day we can recommend the caves in Domme itself. 5 minutes walk from the house & spectacular. We really can't recommend this property highly enough. Roddy & Catriona were delightful hosts, relaxed but informative, and very approachable. We can't wait to revisit!"

Push open the front door and you will discover a house full of character, tastefully decorated and mostly furnished with antiques yet with all modern comforts. Nestled on the top of the medieval remparts of the village, it offers spectacular views from the terrace to La Porte des Tours - the original gateway into the village, and Templar knights prison!

The front door opens into a hallway where several steps lead up to:
- a large open plan living space of 55m² offering three distinct areas:
* a spacious, fully fitted, modern kitchen (small diswhwasher, oven, hob, microwave, washer/dryer, coffe machine, kettle, fridge...)

* a comfortable sitting area with decorative fireplace, sofa, armchairs, coffee table and lamps
The living room opens onto the:
* a conservatory with a sofa and armchairs and stunning views over the valley and the famous "Porte des Tours"

A corridor leads to two double bedrooms, each one with a large double bed (160cm wide)
* a dressing room/office
* a shower room with double wash basins and walk in shower
* a separate toilet

The house is double glazed and offers air conditioning in all rooms except the conservatory on request and for an extra cost of 100€ per week.

Despite the comfort and the quality of the interior furnishings, it is without doubt the exterior space of this property which gives it that "something" truly special!

* A terrace built actually onto the remparts offers views across the huge garden, pool and countryside beyond. There is a wooden table and chairs and a gas barbecue for al fresco dining.
* A conservatory offers a covered space for relaxing whilst enjoying the view over the Porte des Tours, which is illuminated every evening!
From this level, a path leads in front of the owners house (who lives next door but is rarely present and when is, extremely discreet!), down some stone steps and actually through an archway in the remparts!
* At this level you will find the wonderful pool measuring 8m x 4m, private, south facing and surrounded by decking and established plants. There are sun loungers and a large parasol ideal for lazy afternoons!
* A vast garden, all lawned and surrounded by shrubs and flowers stretches before you, and leads to a lower level where the more adventurous can wander amongst the hundred year old trees and discover the nature rare in the centre of Domme!
* On an upper level, and accessible via the street, or via a steep slope from the garden, is a private, gated parking area for two cars. A garage is available for one car at the entrance to the house

Classed 4 star in 2021, the property is situated on the ground floor of a house. It has been completely renovated recently and is completely independent. The extremely discreet owner lives next door - invisible unless you need her!

Due to the position of the house on the remparts, with steep drops and steps, it is not suitable for children under 16 years of age, nor people with mobility problems. Animals are not accepted.

- "We could not have enjoyed our stay here more. The house is comfortably and very tastefully furnished with the feel of a family home, as indeed it has been, and delightful long views over the gardens, the valley below and the old town ramparts and Portes des Tours, all of which can be especially enjoyed from the terrace and sun room. We loved the large gardens, on two broad terraces backed by the old stone walls of the ramparts, giving a great sense of history. We enjoyed the bird life too. It was hot during our stay and we made good use of the pool. The air conditioning worked well in our bedroom. Veronique’s son Jean gave us a warm welcome and showed us round the house and garden - and even bought us delicious ice creams from the excellent glacier near the Esplanade. He and Veronique, who live next door, were discreet but most helpful in answering any questions we had. Jean kindly arranged canoeing for us too. Domme is a charming place to stay with its well preserved honey coloured stone houses and views over the Dordogne and made a great centre for further exploring the area. There are several good restaurants within a very short walk from the house and others a short drive. We can highly recommend Maison des Tours. "

200 m from the river, on a hectare of south-west facing land with an uninterrupted view over the hills of the Dordogne Valley, 3 Périgord-style self-catering gîtes have recently been built, inspired by the architecture of the tobacco drying sheds in the SARLAT region.

Each gîte is independent and has its own private garden of around 500 m2.

Each can accommodate 4 people (5 with a cot available on request), with a total interior surface area of 65 m². There is also a 50 m² outdoor terrace and a private balneotherapy pool.

All gîtes are suitable for people with reduced mobility.
