Positioned on 2 acres with panoramic vista views, this Queenslander home offers private, luxury accommodation for friends, families and couples who want to escape for a well deserved break! If you are looking to re-charge the batteries, find some quiet time with your loved ones, explore the region, or just relax and take pleasure in the beautiful surroundings then Leda Lodge is for you.
The home has a large living area, spacious kitchen, theatre room, large outdoor entertaining area, study nook and 2 bathrooms with heated towel rails and a deep bath in the 2nd bathroom. The wood heater provides a cosy ambiance during the winter months, in addition to the reverse-cycle air conditioning ensuring your comfort at all times. In the library nook, there are books to read and various board/card games as well as chess. There are also kids toys, childrens story books and games.
The dining area opens onto a spacious timber outdoor entertaining deck that brings you even closer to nature. You can soak up the relaxing atmosphere and be as lazy as you want. The picturesque views overlooking the valley will take your breath away and give you every reason to want to stay in and enjoy the local surrounds. The deck has a lovely big daybed where you can kick back and relax with a good book or take an afternoon snooze as well as the infamous BBQ to enjoy. There is also a bocce court for those who like a little competition. At night, why not sit around the fire pit with family and friends toasting marshmallows admiring the beautiful night sky.
The home has been furnished with the utmost care to make your visit here a home from home with high quality furnishings, linen & kitchenware. All amenities are provided: linen, towels, microwave, stove, large fridge, cooking equipment, gas barbecue, TV in living & theatre room; DVDs; games, stereo (with bluetooth), hair dryer, heated towel rails in both bathrooms and ample storage. We also installed gates on the back deck so you can lock in both the little and furry ones. Being built on clay, the home has developed a few squeaks in the floors but nothing major to detract from the overall ambience.
For the coffee enthusiast there is a Nespresso Coffee Machine. We have internet wifi, however, it's not the fastest. Also, the location of the house excludes most second tier mobile phone carriers from working well. The home has a telephone for those that need to be contactable and local and national calls are free.
The rates are based on twin share. The bedding configuration:
- Master Bedroom - Queen bed
- Bedroom 2 - 2 x King Singles
- Bedroom 3 - Queen bed
- Bedroom 4 - Double Bed
There is parking for 2 vehicles under the house as well as parking for another 2-3 vehicles off the end of the street. We also have a wheelchair ramp to assist those in need. Guests need to notify us prior to checking so we can ensure the wheelchair ramp is installed in time for their stay.
With no street lighting in the area, the stars in the night sky are incredibly bright and at certain times of the year you will easily be able to identify the Southern Cross and the Saucepan constellations and spot the odd satellite passing by from the front verandah.
Note: This property does have slopes and gravel pathways so may not be suitable for people who need walking assistance.
LOCATION
The home is situated only 5 minutes drive from town, located in a quiet cul-de-sac.
Situated in the heart of the Blackwood River Valley, there are some great scenic drives throughout the countryside ranging from 3km to 120km. For the nature lovers there are excellent walking trails through the Bridgetown and surrounding areas.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
If you have young children they will need to be supervised around the wood heater when it is in use.
We want you to have a truly special holiday experience at Leda Lodge, however, this much-loved property is NOT a party house and not suitable for weddings/functions.
PET POLICY
As dog owners we know how difficult it is to find accommodation that will allow pets which is why we are happy for you to bring your dog. You will need to bring its drinking/food bowls, leash and bedding. The property has farm fencing with plenty of room for dogs to run around.
Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets both within and outside the property. Pets are not allowed on the furniture or beds.
SECURITY
There are two security cameras - one on the rear verandah facing the front gate and one on the front verandah facing the front door. They are not activated when guests are staying at the house.

The house is a a home from home and more, extremely well equipped. We have been here a number of times, always magical." - "The house is great, it’s comfortable and has everything you could want or need. The outdoor deck with it’s amazing views across the valley is very special but unfortunately it was too cold during our stay to spend long afternoons outside admiring the view so I guess that means we had better come back in summer. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

Goldenrose is a home. A home for others to enjoy as their home away from home. A getaway, a city escape, a place to recharge and enjoy with loved ones. For this purpose, WE DO NOT HAVE WIFI!!
A TV / DVD, though yes, and you are most welcome to bring your favorite movies to play in an evening. Or find a old favourite In the box of plenty we have on hand.
But this was not your reason for getting away, this is what you wanted...
This English style Cottage is a perfect getaway if you are looking for a comfortable ambient space to relax unwind and enjoy some peace & quiet. Two double rooms with Queen beds and Linen designed for comfort & more importantly a good night's sleep.
Note our cottage is not ideal for large numbers, we would like to point out we are comfortably a two bedroom guest cottage. The back room is a sleep out and can be prone to cold in winter and heat in Summer. (We only have a pedestal fan for summer heat) Please consider your numbers when booking we do not like to have more than the 6 person detail.
Reverse cycle aircon is big enough to make the whole house comfortable in the summer and winter (although you can not beat the heat of the potbelly in winter) Please note our potbelly only has a 4hr max burn, it does not last through the night. So this can be annoying as in winter it can be felt when it expires. So do keep the Fujitsu on also for those extra chilly nights in winter month’s.
A nice big country kitchen with chefs oven on hand for the family roast. Or if preparing cheese & nibbles is more your style the kitchen is self-contained with most kitchen appliances & equipment on hand for your own little touch on entertaining.
Then head to the lawn or decking outlook and enjoy the valley views.
It Can be cold in Winter (Bridgetown is called Fridgetown for a good reason) and the woodshed is always full in winter, you will need to be safe when chopping wood to keep the potbelly firing at all times. There are blankets stocked, this is not a place you want to get caught in with out back up plans for those extra cold nights.
Sitting around the fire pit in Winter is fun with the marshmallows and we do say please use with caution at all times. Especially if you have young children.
If the Kayaks attract your attention in summer, the Blackwood river is only 2.5km away and is a lovely experience, please use safely. It is your responsibility to get them to the river safety and provide life jackets if for you and your children. Be sure to take a backpack with water and sunscreen & a hat if you do. If you would like access to these please enquire.
There are cards and board games for those quieter evenings.
We welcome you and hope you enjoy your stay.
Kind regards
Georgina
- "Golden Rose Cottage is perfect. Such a beautiful cosy cottage with absolutely gorgeous views. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. The kitchen was stocked well with all the things we needed when cooking, which was really handy. And the doggos had the time of their lives running around the property. We would return in a heartbeat. The deck and verander looking out over the beautiful hills makes this cottage extra special. 5 stars!!" - "This was our second year staying at Golden Rose. We came back not just for the beautiful scenery, but how comfortable the home is. Our dogs loved chasing each other around the big property & there are so many hiking trails within driving distance. We love Bridgetown, it's such a beautiful place. Thanks Georgina & Raymond for another great stay!"

The Apple in Bridgetown is a relaxing get away - a gorgeous heritage farm house to call your own for a night, weekend or week. 3 hours drive south of Perth, The Apple sleeps up to 12 people. 3 bathrooms, internet, modern amenities plus old fashioned fun including wood stoves and open fireplaces.
The Apple is a 1920s family home on 8 acres of land on the Blackwood River, Bridgetown WA. 3km from the townsite.
It was once the farm house of a large apple orchard. It has a huge lounge room which in the 1940's hosted monthly dances.
Bridgetown is a gorgeous treasure in the south west. It's a small town located in a picturesque valley. The town centre is lively, with quality cafes, restaurants, wineries and boutiques. It has a long running annual Blue Festival in November, plus has many other art and culture events throughout the year.
It's easy to get caught up cooking, relaxing and never leaving the property, but it's close to heaps if you want to explore more.

When considering staying with us please be mindful this is a old country home in a rural area. If you're looking for all the modern comforts and predicability of a commercial hotel this might not be the accommodation for you. If you are after a genuine country experience with rustic charm, space, freedom and privacy we think you'll love our place. Being in a rural setting you may encounter more animals, spiders and bugs than the city, a lizard may give you a fright in the garden or you might hear a possum at night. Being an old house you may encounter the occasional imperfection, we are constantly making improvements but it is a 100 year old house.

Freezing, but The Oak Barn is the warmest accommodation in Bridgie…and I stay in the region in winter a lot. So cosy, so warm, with a slow burning log fire and split system aircon/heaters. Hot air rises!! And with the bedroom upstairs in the loft you are 100% guaranteed a warm nights sleep. Situated in the outskirts of town, close enough to pop in, but rural enough to feel private…and across the road from Sunnyhurst Winery! Could not be better. Immaculately clean! With alot of thoughtful bits and bobs, needing absolutely nothing, comfy bed, games, books, loads of seating…I cannot rave enough. Perched high on the hill overlooking the Blackwood valley to hills beyond sits spectacular “Aruma” described by some of our visitors as a touch of Tuscany.
Our home was totally re built in 2020 to create one of Bridgetown’s most impressive homes incorporating expansive open living areas and gourmet kitchen extending onto a full length deck taking in the properties breathtaking views.
Four of our bedrooms have hotel grade king size beds that can be split into 8 king singles to suit guests configuration requirements. Multiple bathrooms all offer designer quality fittings and those with baths have garden or valley views.
Situated on 10 acres of farm land and orchards, you will be entertained by our resident guinea fowl ( the girls) or relax watching our lawn mowing sheep. In season you are welcome to help yourself to our “fruit bowl” orchard or enjoy our ever expanding garden or drinks by the dam.

Standing on the deck looking into a lush green forest was just awesome and having brekky in the Conservatory a wonderful experience. Loved every minute of our stay. Just a recommendation, a couple of the mattresses on the beds could be replaced as they were very soft and sinking in and we couldn’t watch Netflix as it wasn’t working. Apart from that totally recommend the house and location to everyone."

Welcome. Let’s step into the high-ceilinged rooms with beautiful jarrah floors and explore.
In Annie's air-conditioned bedroom you will find an old fashioned double brass bed, a writing desk and an antique cot. In Rosie’s Retreat, depending on the time of day you can either slumber in the ornate single day bed or nestle in the comfortable old lounge chair. ‘The Dormitory’ is also the grandchildren’s play room. Here you can flop on one of the two single beds or put your feet up on the double sofa and perhaps tap away on your tablet.
Annie and Rosie’s rooms become quiet areas by simply closing the hallway door. ‘The Dormitory’ is adjacent to the family room. There is hanging space in all bedrooms. Freshly laundered, lovely, bed linen, plumped pillows, toiletries and towels are provided with compliments.
The air-conditioned family room has an amply cushioned day bed and comfortable lounge chairs. It is the hub of the home. If you enjoy jigsaws or games then this is the place to be. Simply open the bookcase cabinets then let the fun and challenges begin or, you can just sit back and watch TV or a DVD.
The light filled kitchen overlooks the treed backyard with a paved area shaded by a beautiful old peppercorn tree. (Young ones assure me that this is a fairy tree.)
The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, gas cooker, microwave and utensils galore. You are welcome to create culinary delights or simply eat on the run. You are also welcome to sample the assortment of coffee and teas provided.
The kitchen abuts the dining area and combines the old with the new. For example, if you enjoy supping from fine china and etched glassware complemented with damask napkins, then the dining dresser is the place to explore. If you prefer a more minimalist style then simply use the practical, plain, dishwasher proof setting. The dining room has an old oak table that is perfect for a game of bridge or similar and can be extended to seat six at meal times.
Friends and family asked that mention be made of the front verandah. It is a favoured place to sit and gaze out at the hills, enjoy a cuppa or a glass of wine, listen to music, read and relax, or watch the sunset. On a balmy evening simply turn on the ceiling fan and the misting system then top up your glass.
At a more practical level there are appliances such as a washing machine, iron and ironing board. If there is anything like this that you need just ask and I'll let you know whether or not it is available.
The cottage accommodates 6 people (nightly price is for 4 people, additional costs for more people). You can park behind the home or on the front verge.
The Blackwood River, with its walking track, canoeing potential, BBQ/picnic area, playground and markets every second Sunday is a stone's throw away. You can meander down to town along the old railway track through the Ashbil Community Garden (with a market on the last Saturday of the month) or over the little bridge, down the footpath past the old church and the deli.
The main street hosts cafes, restaurants and hotels that cater to a broad range of tastes. (The Cidery, with locally made premium ciders and award-winning beers, is several blocks away.) Tucked between these eateries you will find two supermarkets and a variety of unique outlets. For example, there are the diverse works of local artists and artisans, vintage clothing and wares, crafts and exquisite quilting fabrics, a bookshop, and even special extras such as organic flower bouquets and locally made skin care products. Around the corner from these is the laundromat and the newsagent.
The Visitors Centre website lists even more things for you to see and do: upcoming events, forest and bush walks, scenic drives, cycling, Greenbushes natural swimming pool, wineries, tours and places of interest. If you are interested in the history of Bridgetown then call into the Old Gaol Museum.
The Winter Festival, Bridgetown Blues and Garden Festivals are included in previous visitors' favourites. Other events, just down the track, include the Balingup Medieval Festival, Nannup Music Festival, Manjimup Cherry Festival and Pemberton Unearthed Festival.
We look forward to your visit to beautiful Bridgetown.

Hey there, I’m Bob the Boxer! Welcome to my holiday home. This isn’t just a place where dogs are “allowed.” Nope. Here, we’re the stars of the show. Horizons is my idea of heaven—a luxe Federation home that’s been lovingly restored so four-legged VIPs like me can kick back in style while our humans relax too.
Think cosy dog beds, treats on arrival, fully fenced gardens for zoomies, and house rules that say yes to pups on couches. It’s a proper holiday—for paws and people.
Why It’s Pawfect
Dog-first accommodation: Fresh treats, bedding, toys, bowls and towels—everything a pup needs for a proper holiday.
Freedom to roam: Fully fenced gardens and relaxed house rules mean we can curl up on couches, sprawl across beds, and claim every sunny patch.
Room for 6 humans: Adults only (13+). Great for couples, friends, or solo travellers who don’t leave us behind.
Luxury meets charm: A grand Federation-era home full of character and high-end comfort.
Prime location: Nestled among other gorgeous heritage homes and just a 5–10 minute stroll to town, shops, and dog-friendly cafés.
The Vibe
From the moment you arrive, Horizons makes tails wag with its lush gardens and stunning street appeal. Inside, you’re greeted by a wide entry hallway with soaring ceilings (great for echoey barks).
Two front bedrooms are flooded with natural light—perfect nap zones. There’s a cosy reading room for humans and a theatre room for movie nights (don’t forget snacks for us). French doors open to a wide verandah where you can watch the sunset together.
The lounge is perfect for chilly evenings with a crackling woodfire. Another set of French doors leads out to a peaceful garden courtyard—ideal for morning coffee or an evening wine while your pup keeps guard.
The Heart of the Home
The rear extension houses a spacious country-style kitchen and dining area, and a double stainless sink. Off here, you’ll find a family bathroom with a clawfoot tub for soaking those tired paws, plus a big laundry/mudroom for storing all your gear with direct garden access.
Upstairs – The Showstopper
Up top, there’s a vaulted master suite with a Juliet balcony, a dreamy window seat for curling up with a book, and a sitting nook with a smart TV. The luxury Tempur mattress? My humans say it’s like sleeping on clouds. I wouldn’t know—I may or may not have tested it first.
The Gardens
Ah, my favourite part. Horizons’ gardens are lush and mature, with fruit trees, herbs for human cooking (yawn), and a chiminea firepit for evenings under the stars. There are also shady nooks perfect for a pup nap after a big day of sniffing.
Heads Up – No Little Humans
This place isn’t set up for kids. The furniture isn’t fixed to walls, and both the stairs and garden aren’t designed with young ones in mind. We appreciate your understanding—it helps keep everyone safe.

The property was in a quiet, scenic location and the house suited our needs perfectly. there was plenty of space for us to spread o0ut and gather together. We have never stayed in a place so well equipped! The building was truly atmospheric and had heaps of character. the cosy fires completed the relaxing atmosphere. We would have loved to stay longer, as we didn't get the chance to experience all that the home had on offer, as we were busy with the wedding.
