This cottage is one of three on our seven acre property and is approximately 1000 sq ft with over 1000 Sq ft of deck. It has a large designated area for your exclusive use to ensure your privacy. The site lines between the cottages are obstructed with trees and there is over 150 feet separating one privacy area from another.
There is amazing fishing and a boat launch directly across from the property. Bring your boat or any other water craft and enjoy the always calm waters of the Trent. Enjoy the hot tub with a view to the water and roasting marshmallows by the Fire Pit under the stars.
We hope you enjoy our home away from home. We have gone to a great deal of effort to give this a resort style feel. Everything including the hot tub is less then a year old and the entire house has been completely renovated.
A full kitchen, dishes, and utensils are available for your use.
- "The house is very comfortable, and feels like home. We enjoyed our Canada Day stay as there was fireworks right in front of the house. You do need bug repellant if you want to stay outdoors especially after sunset; we brought our thermacell to shield us from mozzies. The area is very close to town and crowe bridge conservation park and all the fishing spots." - "My husband, sister, and brother-in-law really enjoyed our weekend! Everything was very clean, comfortable and just as expected. There weren't as many kitchen utensils/glasses as expected, but there were enough to get us through the weekend. Ended up going into town (very very close!) and picking up some rocks glasses and leaving them for future guests. Honestly, not a complaint in the slightest, though as everything else was provided. More than enough towels, garbage bags, etc. Important to note there is a water cooler too, which is nice if you don't want to bring single use water bottles. We stayed in the winter and hot-tubbed while we overlooked the fire (firewood provided!) and the beautiful Trent River. Would LOVE to see the hustle and bustle of the summer time in this location and on the river. Great place for a longer stay as well (laundry is is a great amenity!). They also provide a pass for local parks and attractions, the suspension bridge, etc. The property is exceptional and you can see where the owners vision is going with the remaining old cottages that I am assuming he's planning to renovate. My sister and I love that stuff and found it very cool to see. We had one small question for the owners while we were there and they answered back right away. Can't recommend a stay here enough. Thank you so much, Peter!!!"

Jason and Jayne has been the loveliest host as they made sure to meet and greet us before we enter their lovely home. The welcome basket with sweets, treats and a greeting card was a plus! Their place was such a lovely home. All the cottage feels with a touch of a modern vibe! Surrounded by bright windows and a cozy living room to chill while playing a game board or watch TV. The main bedroom was so beautiful as you see the sunlight come thru the roof in the morning. The bedsheets smells sooo good with the softest pillows ever, it was hard to wake up early! In the afternoon, we were able to enjoy paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing in the deck greeting the very friendly boats that passed by and enjoying the view seeing unique birds around too! The big living room window and comfy recliner kept us entertained all afternoon when the weather got a little hot. (AC kept the inside temp nice and cozy). - "My family had a great time at this cottage, it is located in a private area yet minutes away from restaurants, shopping etc. Property was well kept and clean and the view was just beautful!! Would definitely be back again!! :)" - "Property was great except the fire pit area was overgrown with weeds and unusable. The outside of the cottage facing the river needed to be cleaned." - "There are good and bad things about this place. Good things: 1) the deck and dock are lovely and we spent most of our time there and watched a few sunsets with the kids. 2) the bed in the main bedroom is King not queen which was a nice surprise. 3) the view from the living area window and balcony are beautiful. 4) the inside of the cottage was very clean The Bad: 1) the second bedroom is a bunkey with a separate entrance (not connected to the other living area at all) which would be great if you went with another couple or had a teenage kid. Not great for littles (we ended up sharing a room with our toddler and our older daughter slept on the futon - not ideal for any of us) 2) the sit in bath tub does not work. (You may be able to lock yourself into the tub and try to fill it with the shower above but would take a very long time - knobs/taps, faucet and Jacuzzi functions on the tub do not work) *the shower works perfectly fine 3) the “meadow” where you park and where the fire is is not inviting and a mess. Did not use this area at all. Overall we had a good time but we would not rent it again."

This house is not directly on the river, but it is a short walk away and you can see the river from the windows. We really liked the shared dock where we fished from, the fire pit where we roasted marshmallows, and the small beach which was perfect for my little one to walk into the water. We stayed during the week and it was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The cottage itself is just like the photos and comfortable for all 10 of us. Thank you for a great summer vacation spot! "

The area is famous for it's fishing, which you can do from the dock or the rocks along our 120 feet of private waterfront - it is rocky so water shoes are highly recommended. There is also a deck at the edge of the water where you can enjoy a relaxing coffee or a drink on Adirondack chairs.
You can put in the canoe or kayaks from the dock and quickly make your way to miles of open water. Lifejackets are provided in various sizes. Depending on the time of year, the river may be running too quickly for our younger guests, but for these we have sprinklers and a dingy which can be filled to make a small pool. In July and August the river is generally tranquil and warm. There are numerous other swimming options in the area - please see our Guidebook for more information on what our beautiful Trent Hills has to offer.

PLEASE NOTE: This retreat does not have electricity. This is a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with nature and yourselves, disconnect from the grid and stresses of everyday life. However, a small, silent portable power station is available to guests should they want one handy for charging phones, laptops and small electrical devices.
The use of the property and gazebos is for the TWO registered guests only! Bringing in anyone that is not associated with your booking is completely prohibited.

***This property is an animal-free zone due to SEVERE allergies. Please don't ask if you can bring your dog, cat etc, or try to sneak them in. This applies to service animals as well unfortunately. Just because different terms are used to describe the same thing, a dog is a dog etc, whether it is your pet or a service animal. Although we do sympathize with people who require service animals, my severe allergies do not know the difference and I do not want to die. Our property is exempt from domestic animals entering the grounds, we ask that you please respect this.
We also have deer and other creatures that live around the gazebos. The scent of a dog or other animal would scare them off, fundamentally changing the nature of the experience and impacting it for other guests.
- "This was quite the experience and better than camping in a tent. The grounds were beautiful and our place was so peaceful and romantic. The only concern I had, was that there was no running hot water. Overall, Sonia and her family were amazing hosts and we thank you for great experience."
