- "An outstanding property in a tea plantation. The main house is full of furniture from days gone by, including nice library. The staff are very incredible. We went at a time when the night temperatures got cold. Not a problem. The antique furniture and the artifacts take you back to the colonial times. The food served in the restaurant was tasteful. What made the dining experience special was the excellent quality of service of the restaurant staff. They were extremely polite. highly efficient and attentive. Unfortunately, we encountered one problem in the bathroom. The refuse was leaking in from the bathroom next door which was certainly a very unpleasant experience. When we complained about this, the hotel front desk staff immediately shifted us to another room which was next door. The staff not only apologized several times for our inconvenience but they also made sure that we got shifted to another room immediately. All in all, we had a very nice stay."

Quite close to the centre of Darjeeling on a busy road (to be fair all roads are busy there). The room we were in was a bit damp, this side of the hotel doesn't get sunlight at this time of year (December) so in this season it remains quite humid and therefore cold (there are enough blankets that you can sleep comfortably though) throughout the night and the day. Staff was nice but also sometimes too present, we got multiple calls in the room in the evenings to tell us that dinner was ready at the restaurant, even though we hadn't booked the restaurant or mentioned any plans to have dinner there."

Excellent service by everyone. The view of the Himalayan peaks from the second floor terrace is exceptional (see picture) especially in the morning. While I was travelling alone this trip, I think it is a great hotel for a romantic getaway. A short walk mostly level to the main mall, but far enough away that it is quieter at night. Rooms heated (important in winter), with wood floors, walls, ceilings and furniture. When I return to Darjeeling, I will definitely stay here again. All the staff I interacted with were terrific."

Suggestion: The hotel has everything that one wants in Darjeeling except for the access to the mall, if a free shuttle can be arranged at regular intervals to ferry hotel guests uphill, it will be a huge improvement. It was also an easy walk up to the market and main square, and a reasonably easy easy walk to the zoo and the mountain climbing museum and the natural history museum. we enjoyed the back terrace, especially during the Diwali celebrations, where we had a glass of wine and some cheese twists while watching the fireworks. The front balcony was also excellent for watching the steam trains. Despite being on the main road and I against the railway line, the room was very quiet both during the day, and especially at night"
