- "All of the staff at the Royal Palm are amazing; they helped us to organize an excursion to North Seymour Island that we probably would not have considered, but ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The weather in the hills during our stay was overcast, but was beautiful when we ventured to the pier. Maybe because of the time of year/weather, the pool and hottubs were really not usable (not clean or hot). The on-site cafe was fantastic. It was fun to see the tortoises that freely roam the property. My sister loved her relaxing massage (she is very picky, so this says a lot). One of the highlights of our stay was a 5-course dinner in the lava tunnel ~ DO NOT MISS IT."

- "I am a middle aged woman travelling solo. The room was perfect and secure. The pool is not designed for lounging in the sun, but great for a dip. Tortuga Bay is about a 45 minute walk on a well maintained path. When you get to the beach, go to he right and walk to the end where you’ll find a path through the mangrove and opens up to a calm pool like swimming area with shade trees and great snorkelling. Very safe to venture out anytime to explore the town, enjoy some wine and walk home. "

The owner is wonderful and is a dentist whose office is attached to the hotel. Either he or staff member was always immediately available. They warned us not to drink tap water and made clean water easily available, delivered to our room every day and available in lobby. He also had drinks and beach towels available for us to borrow or buy, all on the honor system; we definitely felt welcome. Most of the hotel is outside with trees, birds, etc. just outside our room. We had a quiet room until the last day when there was construction due to sudden damage to part of the hotel...totally unforeseen and not a problem for us. The hotel is very convenient and we could walk to the beach, the National Park, Darwin Center and lots of restaurants and shops."

- "Easy access, quiet, close to everything. " - "Great location but noisy neighbourhood at night. Very helpful staff." - "My room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. It is very close to the boat launch and there are tons of restaurants and shops within a few minute's walk. Breakfast is a set meal...toast, eggs, meat, cheese, and fruit. If you are a vegan or have dietary restrictions, you are going to have an issue with the breakfast. The door to my patio was broken so I wasn't able to put my wetsuit out to dry. The hot water took about 5 minutes to heat. Wifi in the room is non-existant, I had to go down to the restaurant to get access. The area is VERY loud, the restaurant plays loud music and there is a nightclub across the street that blasts music on the weekends. The pool closes at 6 and has no seating, its really not a place to hang out unless you have kids. You can probably get a similar room for less since the amenities are actually very basic, despite what it lookslike on the website."

- "Fantastic view! People were very nice and were glad to help when you had questions. It is close to everything but just far enough away so as not to be right in the middle of everything. Rooms weren’t huge but had what you needed. The bed was comfortable. It would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room but they did install a beer and beverage fridge in the lobby on the second last day of our stay. The hotel is quite small so noise is not a problem. The breakfast in the morning is on a rooftop deck and was very good. This was a great place to spend 4 nights. "
