The communication with the team was incredibly easy and we always found ourselves looked after and warmly welcomed. The only drawback is the location, where it's not in the most picturesque surroundings, you need to walk through a lot of dusty ground to get there and the mosque prayers are also quite loud, waking you up at 5am every morning. As a solo female traveller we wouldn't recommend staying there as paths are not lit at night and it's quite a way from everywhere else. But other than that, the property itself and the staff were a wonderful experience! "

The beach can be reached in 10 minutes by bike (on both sides). There are some nice restaurants within walking distance and you can rent bikes next door at the usual prices on the island. In the evening you will here music from the mosque/prayer, but this can be heard all over the island as the stream it via sound boxes all over the island."

Obviously in front of the narrow beach there are quite few boats and nearby is the place where all snorkeling tours drop the people to see the turtles, so it isn't a quiet stretch of beach, but it's plenty of cool, laid back little places, with bean bags and music to relax. The room of the hotel are huge and cute! The bed is super comfortable and the bathroom is basic, but big too with all you need. For breakfast you can choose from 3 different menus: 2 continental types and 1 local. For us it was just nice!. Staff is kind. If you want a mid range place, simple, small, but comfortable, in a very good location, i would surely recommend it."

The team of staff were great. Took very good care of us and couldn't be anymore helpful. The breakfast was good also. Only a couple of improvements that could be added, to make the stay perfect. There was no coils to keep the mosquitos away and there are quite alot. If they lit some coils or incense, then this would reduce this issue. - "Nice private villas in a great location. Just a few minutes walk from the north and west side of the island with a good selection of bars and restaurants. Staff here very friendly and helpulful. Earplugs a requirment (provided at the villa) for the very early morning call to prayer from the Mosque. I am sure this will aplly to any accomodation on the island. All in all the villas and island were a great place to stay and would have gladly done more time here. "

The location is good - towards one end of the main strip - so close enough fire easy access to all the restaurants etc but far enough away to avoid the night club noise. Sadly the hotel has suffered earthquake damage. This had totally destroyed the main reception, bar and restaurant. The cottage we stayed in also had evidence of earthquake damage (eg cracks). We only stayed there one night because of this."

We were on babysitting duties for 3 grandkids under 4, so spent a lot of time at the property. - "We enjoyed oyr stay here, it is a bit out of the main area but this is what we like, very close to the beach. The rooms are lovely and private and staff go out of their way to help and make your stay there very pleasant. Would recommend staying here. Terima kasih banyak. " - "We loved staying at Samala! The villas were spacious and well thought out. The included breakfast was very generous and tasty. The staff were helpful and there was good cleaning service. We ended up extending our stay because we enjoyed Gili Meno so much. Our only complaint is the water situation. While we were there there was no fresh water from the taps. They informed us that it was an island wide problem at the beginning of our stay so we were informed and okay with it. However, this also meant that there was no hot water, and throughout our stay the water went out completely multiple times. The staff were always quick to respond to this issue but it became troublesome as the trip went on. We understand that the water shortage is a resource problem not a hotel problem but it became bothersome. Additionally, we were not satisfied with the drinking water situation. We were given two complimentary 500 ml drinking water bottles for the both of us at the beginning of our four night stay and no more the rest of the time and there was no water refill station. We understand that not every hotel has this but the problem arose in that they were selling water on the property for a large mark up compared to the rest of the island (10k at corner stores for large bottles and they were selling it for 17k). We found this strange that they were not only not providing drinking water to guests but were also selling it to us at a much higher price. "
