This cottage is conveniently located near to Havelock North and Hastings, being only 5 minutes from Havelock North and less than 15 minutes from Hastings city centre. It is built within a 2 hectare (five acre) lifestyle block, being about 100 metres distance from the main residence. It is very private, has extensive rural views and is set within nicely maintained grounds. The Louisa Stream (hence the cottage name) runs nearby, and parents of young children must provide necessary supervision. Please note: WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OLD, SO DO NOT COUNT THEM AS A GUEST. The cottage is not suitable for wheelchair access.
Thre is a secure floor safe suitable for passports, cash, valuables etc. Please ask if you want a key to this safe.
The cottage enjoys all day sun, with both a North and a West facing deck. There is a stunning view south towards Mount Erin, and because there is little light pollution, the night sky is spectacular.
There is a large hedge separating the cottage grounds from the adjoining property, which is planted with vegetables.
The owners have pet hens and a rooster. If the hens co-operate (they are rather temperamental) they may produce some eggs for our guests! The birds are about 60 metres distance from the cottage. There is other birdlife around, including Pukekos who can screech at night.

The decks are only about 400mm high, but have no railing so may not be suitable for small children unless supervised.

Our Wai Citi Cottage is surrounded by wineries, eateries and wedding venues, including, Te Mata, Black Barn, Craggy Range. The cottage is set in a park like setting which is being developed, providing plenty of space for the children to roam in.
For the cyclists we are in easy access to many trails--the closest being 3 minutes ride away.

Havelock North is our nearest town and is 5 minutes drive . It is known for the abundance of cafes,eateries,art gallery, gift shops and dress shops. There are 2 swimming pools here, and a very popular new play ground for all children,including skate boarders. There's a movie theatre.

For the golfers, we are 20 minutes to a choice of 3 courses--Hastings Bridge Pa, Maraenui Napier and 30 minutes drive to Cape Kidnappers.

Little House is a self-contained building in the back of our garden in Havelock North.

Built in 2010, it is 35m2 in size with double glazing, heat pump and modern amenities.

Suitable for singles, couples, a single parent with up to two kids or a couple with one child (there is a sofa bed in addition to the main bedroom).

Access is up our driveway and through our garden (past the side of our house) to the back of the property where Little House is located.

You will have full use of the back garden (shared with us!) between both houses and the area behind Little House (exclusively yours) too for the duration of your stay.

There are two eating areas exclusively for your use while you are staying, so you can make the most of the Hawke’s Bay sunshine!

Inside Little House you will find:

Our large and spacious guesthouse is set amongst an olive grove on 4.5 acres of beautifully landscaped property. Only a 5 minute drive from the center of Havelock, or 15 minutes to Hastings, our location is ideally close and convenient, but feels far away once on property. We invite you to enjoy a nature walk where you might see ducks, native birds, rabbits, our resident hedgehog named Eric, our five sheep, or our two chihuahuas that might come say hi with a big bark! THE SPACE
Our guesthouse is situated on top of a hill that enjoys epic views out toward the mountain ranges. A very comfortable queen bed is outfitted with linens from Wallace Cotton and the kitchen is full of everything you need to cook yourself entire meals at home.

The bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink all in the same space. We provide luxury towels.

Outside we have an outdoor bathtub that is completely private and very romantic overlooking the beautiful views and outfitted with warm water. We provide 2 dressing gowns/robes for our guests and 2 beach towels for use at the bath.

We provide coffee, tea, breakfast cereals, spices and all the amenities you would find in your own kitchen at home for your convenience.

Guest parking is located right outside your guest house with a sign designating your spot as the "Olive Tree Lodge Parking". You walk up a paver path, past the outdoor bath to enter the unit, providing you with a private entrance to your space through the front sliding glass doors.

Recent renovations have added brand new living area, bathroom and bedroom. Unlimited fibre wifi connection available to all guests. One King bed in master bedroom and 3 single beds in kids rooms. New living area can be used as an additional bedroom if necessary.

A handy 20 minute walk or 3 minute drive to Havelock North village. Short 20 minute drive to Napier - New Zealand's Art Deco capital.

This is a functioning family home so expect a comfortable fully equipped home nestled in the heart of Hawke's Bay. The property is as it appears in the photos - a tidy, private home away from home.

The house comes with two low maintenance cats (Mango and Kibbeh). The cats only eat solid food so simply require a bowl of biscuits in the morning and again at night. We hope that families find them great company and that they help to enhance the stay.

Per night fee is for 4 guests. Additional guest charge of $50 per night applies to each additonal guest with a maximum of 6 guests at any time.

This beautiful cottage is the perfect place to relax.
From first thing in the morning when the sun hits the verandah outside your bedroom till the day's end as you watch it sink below the western hills there is a place you will find perfect to read a book or enjoy the fruits of your foray to the wineries and local food markets.
Unsurprisingly, Havelock North has been awarded "the most beautiful suburb in New Zealand" for 2017. It has a wonderful new playground, excellent shopping and restaurants and extensive biking and walking opportunities. Our free bikes are available for your use.

- "A delightful property. Beautifully built in NZ wood and style. 2 bathrooms for 2 couples was a must. Our hosts provided eggs,bacon etc for breakfast. The house was in the countryside just outside Havelock North. Beautiful garden and views. Added extra was 2 donkeys in the field. Loved our visit" - "Character property, with good amenities. Added bonus of breakfast provisions. The hosts were very helpful, there were some very minor issues with a leaking cold tap and shower head that needs repairing in the ensuite together with a plug that didn’t fit the bath, however these in no way detracted from our stay which was very enjoyable. We would love to come back and wouldn’t hesitate recommending the property to friends."
