You will be treated to big breakfasts served on lovely China with delicious homemade bread, eggs from their own chickens, homemade jams, locally made cheeses and various meats. Dinner is also fantastic and Wout does a perfect blue steak, wonderful fish dishes and his frites are fantastic! The Dining Room has a wonderful aspect. It has lots of natural light as it overlooks the River Scheldekant and cycle path. The tables are spaciously arranged. There is an adjacent room to the dining room which contains a baby grand piano and if you’re lucky you may get the chance to play it. We stayed in the Room Suite which was beautifully designed. The stairs leading up to it are a bit steep so if you have mobility issues you might prefer a different room. The Suite had a large free standing bath plus walk-in shower, two separate basins and was stuffed with very nice toiletries. There was also a fridge which had an amazing selection of wines situated in the library, and a large desk in an alcove. There were plenty of plug sockets in the bedroom and on the desk. The bedroom had large windows on both sides so one could view the River Scheldekant and cycle path whatever side of the bed you were on. In short everything was outstanding. If The Savoy Hotel in London did a B&B this would be it. "

We built in 2017 a pleasant, ecological passive house, with a garden, patio, bicycle storage and private parking. Everything on the ground floor. Later we will live there.

Spacious living room with open kitchen (oven, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, induction hobs, dishwasher, washing machine) and children's play area, bathroom with shower, separate toilet.

Bedrooms: a room with - optionally - a double bed or 2 single beds;
the second room with bunk bed and third bed, if desired.
In the living room there is a sofa, which can be used as a sofa bed (for 2 people, 160 wide). There is room for up to 6 people.

There is a small patio and a terrace. A sunny garden. There is a secure bicycle shed, with a professional bicycle suspension system, which can be reached via the street at the back. Safe bicycles can also be parked in the basement.

The district:

The Gevaertsdreef and Hofstraat are in a protected cityscape. The style of the houses - dating from 1900 - has been preserved.
The property we bought and demolished in 2016 was rebuilt in the 1970s. The façade did not fit in the street.
Our architects gave the new building a modern frontage that seamlessly connects with the neighboring houses built in the 1900s, the glory time of the textile industry in Oudenaarde.
The city park with Liedts castle is on the back door. The Hofstraat runs dead on the allotments. You can easily walk (10 min) to the Market, the shops, the brand new swimming pool, the station, the restaurants etc ...

The ecological holiday home has a total surface area of 60 m² and can accommodate up to 6 people.
The holiday home and the private home are separate and each has its own entrance. The spacious front garden, entirely at the guests’ disposal, was redesigned with particular attention to the privacy of our guests.
The south-facing private terrace is the perfect place to catch your breath over an apéro or BBQ after an enjoyable trip. BBQ and supplies are provided.
There is private parking for two cars and guests can park their bikes in the private garage. On request, everything can be provided to clean the bikes.
During renovation and decoration, we paid a lot of attention to sustainability, comfort and quality. The solar panels, heat pump and cistern provide all the necessary comfort without placing any additional burden on nature. There is underfloor heating over the entire surface and an automatic ventilation system has been installed.

Thanks to the house's good location near the N60 motorway, many cultural and sporting activities are easily and quickly accessible, even by bicycle. Bigger cities like Bruges, Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp are easily accessible even by train.

In the area
The “Flemish Ardennes” region is located in the south of the province of East Flanders and is best known for the hilly landscape, beautiful nature, lovely villages near the language border and the many opportunities for sporting, cultural and gastronomic excursions.
In ‘t Wiel is easily accessible via the motorway and then the N60. The central location between Ghent and Ronse provides many possibilities.

SPORTS AND WELLNESS
Walking
Put on your walking shoes and you can leave the house for a short or long walk between the fields or towards the picturesque village of Mullem (2 km). A beautiful walking route also starts from Mullem, the Rooigemsebeek walking route. You can find a description of this walking route and other recommendations on routen.be or routezoeker.com.
In the mood for something different? Near In ‘t Wiel you can set off for a walk around Mullem with alpacas. Reservations can be made at Alpaca Vlaanderen.

Cycling
Oudenaarde and cycling are often mentioned in the same breath. Oudenaarde is therefore the cycling capital of Flanders. Grease that chain and your calves and brave the famous Flemish slopes… But a quiet (read: flat) bike ride along the Scheldt is also possible! As an avid cyclist, Philippe can recommend various cycling routes in the area for mountain bike, gravel bike and racing bike and GPX files of these routes can be provided on request. Can't bring your own bike? No problem! You can easily rent a bike in Oudenaarde and its surroundings. We will gladly help you out.

Center Tour of Flanders
Here you can, among other things, rent a bicycle and/or bicycle GPS with routes. The CRVV is also the starting point for many cycling routes (6.5 km).
