- "Went for a one night stay for my partners birthday.what a lovely experience it was. After reading reviews after booking it I was wondering if it was not going to be so good.as some complaints about it being slightly run down and cold.we went with an open mind and we was not diserpointed at all.it was actually much better than we ever imagined it was going to be and we can't wait to go back. Our room was just fantastic, warm, clean and furnished beautiful. We had a four poster bed and it was perfect. The whole experience was so lovely and the staff where very attentive and helpful.ruth from the dining room was such a lovely lady and couldn't do enough for everyone. The food was fine we had an evening meal and breakfast, couldn't fault it. Had a wander around the grounds seeing all the wildlife and peacocks.granted some things are a little tired and tatty but it's a castle and none of that reflected on our opinions of the whole experience.we absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back. Thank you for a lovely stay ,lovely experience and very nice staff."

- "Me and my girlfriend wanted a weekend away close by and chose Ruthin. We saw the Feathers which was very close to the centre. We booked two nights. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown our room and the amenities. It was only then I realized I'd booked a room with a shared bathroom. This was no problem, we were very quickly moved to an en-suite. Both rooms, en-suite and standard, were very clean, tidy, modern and comfortable. The en-suite was quite big really, the beds were very comfortable and we both slept very well. I would totally recommend a stay at the feathers. There was no breakfast but literally across the road there is a traditional cafe."

The cottage was clean and all the essentials were provided. The bedding and towels were of good quality and the bed was very comfortable. There is secure off-road parking and the garden is fenced around. There is a tall step between the back door and the gravelled garden, but Ruthin is hilly so this should not be a surprise! "

Good Highway connections nationally.
The Area : The Welsh/English Borderlands is steeped in Medieval History and famed for its classic landscape. Snowdonia is an hour away, the coast about 30 minutes, Liverpool 1 hour and Chester 40 minutes. Quality shopping in Chester and Liverpool.
- "Great hosts welcomed us on arrival; comfy & well appointed house with fab log burner. We visited over New Year and enjoyed walking from the property into woods at the back. Excellent location, must be beautiful in spring & summer." - "We just loved this cottage, spotless and well equipped for our stay in North Wales. Beautiful location lovely views, wished I had bought my binoculars, as we could hear the cry of birds of prey over the forest but too far away to see them clearly. Lovely walk along Lady Bagots Drive. The dog loved paddling in the river just below the foot bridge. Watch out for roaming pigs in the forest and friendly sheep in the field that come running to greet you. Great as a base to explore the area to be honest a week wasn’t long enough, so we hope to return soon. Helen and Tony are top notch hosts. So helpful and gave us pointers of what to see. The beds were really comfortable, no tossing and turning here for me with my dodgy hips!! Just a good nights sleep. If you want peace and tranquility this place could be for you. We have returned home much refreshed. Thank you."

This stunning red brick family home sleeping 6 sits as close to historic Ruthin's town centre as you can get for a holiday home. A beautiful terraced house in a quiet street, yet only 300 m to the town centre with pubs, shops, and other amenities and attractions. This property is stylishly decorated, with photos and artefacts from this family's rented home giving a cosy feel to the three double bedrooms and ample living space. A fantastic base for North Wales adventures for the whole family.
You enter the property through the gated front garden of this beautiful Victorian red brick terraced house and in through the front door. This leads to a cool, light, tiled hallway, with the stairway to the three double bedrooms ahead. Either side of this hallway sit the lounge and the dining area. The lounge has been sumptuously decorated in a navy colour, echoing the grandeur of the traditional Victorian lounge. Two sofas and a chair face the chimney breast, with a modern wood-burning stove providing heat. The Smart TV sits on a cabinet in front of the coffee table, and a large bay window provides light in the day, and large lamps provide a cosy glow at night.
The dining area is also an impressive space, with a closed chimney breast and painted beams alluding to this property’s rich history. Otherwise, the modern dining table sits all 6 guests comfortably for evening meals, and cool, pale flooring and striking grey bookshelves give this space a stylish twist on the traditional. Patio doors lead out towards the back garden area for cool summer evenings. Following the hallway down beyond the stairway, you’ll find a small, dedicated workspace for checking emails tucked into where an under stairs area would have originally been.
The hallway leads all the way back to the galley kitchen, tucked at the rear of the property. The use of light pine worktops and cool caramel units makes this space bright and inviting, with all you need tucked neatly into this compact kitchen. The striking white sink area sits under the window, with a gas hob sitting beyond on the worktop. The room also houses an integrated, wall-mounted electric double oven, and there is also a kettle, toaster, cafetiere and all crockery and cutlery.
Leading on from the kitchen is the utility room with a tall fridge/freezer, a washer/dryer, a separate steel sink unit, access to the boiler, access to the back garden, and a separate WC.
This property enjoys 3 spacious double bedrooms upstairs. The first generously-sized bedroom has a wrought iron double bed, two built-in wardrobes, bedside tables with lamps, a small TV on a side cabinet in front of the bed. The wall mirror and large window reflect light through this master bedroom. The second double room, painted in a rich olive colour, also has a comfortable double bed and stylish built-in wardrobes. The main feature of this beautiful room is the large, traditional bay window facing towards the front of the property. The third double bedroom is best suited to children or big kids! Slightly smaller in size, but with a large window for morning light, the double bed is against one wall, with children’s toys and adornments.
This property comes with a large family bathroom with a WC and wash hand basin, wall mirror, Victorian-style radiator with attached towel rail, a wood panelled bath and a separate shower cubicle.
The gated front area is safe for small children, and the enclosed rear garden is perfect for little ones to run around. A small grassed area leads towards a small raised patio area, all backed by a modern battened fence and with minimalist style planting all around. Unlike many properties this close to the centre of Ruthin, this property has a parking permit so guests can park outside the property.
Other things to note:
- All bed linen and towels are provided.
- One well behaved pet welcome.
- Only 300 m from The Castle Hotel Weatherspoons pub.
- Mere metres from the ancient centre of Ruthin with shops, eateries, and its famous indoor market.
- Supermarkets, pharmacies, and the doctor's surgery are within a short walk from Preswylfa.
This property is happy to accommodate 1 well behaved dog but please note a fee of £25 applies.
-We are happy to welcome 1 well behaved dog at this property free of charge.
To enhance your arrival experience, please take a moment to complete our brief online check-in form before you arrive. This will help us ensure we have everything ready for you at check-in.
- "We loved this home in Ruthin. After exploring all of northern Wales, it was nice to have somewhere warm and comforting to come back and relax. Plenty of space to spread out and the welcome gift of freshly baked bread was so very sweet...and delicious" - "We love staying in this townhouse right down the road from the local pub and the Town center. Very easy to walk to the grocery store and visit the local castle. We had a little trouble figuring out the washer and dryer and the oven, but once we figured it out things were good. Warning, the shower is a little small, so if you are tall and large, it'll be a tight squeeze. It's a very quiet neighborhood and it was a perfect location to visit the surrounding countryside. Thank you!"

- "Overall not bad, but things let it down. Phone signal is awful, and there if no Wi-Fi as described. Great area with lovely views. Read reviews from earlier this year about the cleanliness, and hoped that as many months had passed this would have changed, but sadly not. The whole place needs a deep clean. Dust, spider webs, dead insects, clothing tags found all over the house. Vinyl floors all slippy and dangerous. Reported an issue with downstairs toilet light that still wasn’t resolved and we left. Main bedroom roof blind not working. Hot tub wasn’t switched on earlier enough, so was not warmed up until the day after arrival, which wasted a night for us. There are two rooms that are empty apart from filing cabinets, also unsafe with a broken step. Such a waste. Has potential, but needs some care and attention, which being on a park where lots of the owners love you are made to think they don’t care about the tourists. Wouldn’t recommend or return. "
