A left turn out the gate is a two minute stroll to shops and restaurants or a right turn out the gate will take you down to the picturesque Tumut River and parks. You can choose to walk or hire a bike for a leisurely ride along the river. We have maps and local information in the house for the local area so you can head off on a walk or bike ride in the local area.

Tumut is approximately 410 kilometres south-west of Sydney, 525 kilometres north-east of Melbourne and 180 km from Canberra via the Hume Highway.

The main access to the town is via Gundagai (34 km) with roads going through both Gocup and Brungle.

The region enjoys four distinct seasons, each with its own charm - the richness of colour in Autumn, the playgrounds of the snowfields in Winter, the bright blossoms in Springtime, and the spectacular tracts of water and aquatic recreational activities in Summer.

The Tumut Region has natural wonders you can explore all year round with tremendous diversity ranging from huge inland lakes, clean streams, and gently sloped pastures to vast pine forests, peaked mountains, the enormous Snowy Mountains Scheme, and the many attractions of the northern end of the sensational Kosciuszko National Park.

Summer streams are cool, and clean. Rivers and dams provide fishers with plenty of opportunities for Trout and native fish. Swimming, canoeing or rafting on the lakes or water skiing, windsurfing, sailing and recreational boating are extremely popular here.

Close by are features like the magnificent Buddong Falls, Yarrangobilly Caves in Kosciuszko National Park, State Forests and the horticulture industry where you can pick your own fruit. You can also retrace the steps of the European explorers along the Hume and Hovell Walking Track. More challenging tracks are a plenty too!

The area is also famous for the legacy of the goldrush days of the last century where you can discover pioneer-era huts, with Adelong offering some of the best preserved ruins of former goldworkings in the State.

Winter brings new enjoyment in the snow for the entire family. Selwyn Snowfields offer fabulous skiing only an hour's drive from Tumut, and half an hour from Talbingo providing tobogganing, downhill Skiing.

The Monarch Tumut is an iconic home in the heart of Tumut at the foothills of the snowy mountains. The centre of the home is the perfect place to watch the clouds roll by under the glass atrium that runs almost the entire length of the home. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, large kitchen and comfortable lounge will make it hard to leave to explore everything that the Snowy Valleys has to offer. You are a short walk to coffee and shops or the beautiful Tumut river. We have it all. Guests will enjoy having the whole house to themselves as well as beautiful gardens. The house is large and airy with high ceilings and a glass atrium roof in the main living area that has to be seen in person to be appreciated. Guests have access to the whole property. I offer a 'host free' experience so that you get to enjoy the property your own way. I am available by phone for any questions you may have so please do not hesitate to give me a call if needed. We are a 2 minute walk from the shops, coffee shops and restaurants of Tumut and right near the river and parklands. You can walk two minutes to the heart of Tumut for meals, coffee and essentials. Whilst the house can sleep 6 adults comfortably - we do have a 'sitting room' that includes a sofa bed. The sofa bed is suited for one adult or two children. We don't recommend the sofa bed for two adults but you are welcome to risk it!
