The loft has 2 bedrooms and was so neat and clean. We walked a quick 8 minutes to the downtown restaurant area. This unique house began as a duplex in 1958 but midway through building became a single family home. Since 1958, the house has had two owners, both within the same Nicholson family. It has 4 bedrooms and two baths with large living space in the middle of the house. It is situated on a corner lot with a front driveway and a back driveway. The back entrance is handicap accessible and one bathroom is also handicap accessible. A nice brick patio in the backyard allows for grilling, dining alfresco and relaxing under large trees. The house has floor to ceiling windows in the east living room which allows the morning sun to make the room warm and cozy. This house is perfect for families, couples, family reunions, or girl-friend get-a-way weekends.

- "This was the second time we stayed here on an overnight stopover during our summer vacation. The house is easy to find. Not far off the interstate but far enough that you can appreciate the small town feel. Plenty of room for our family of five which includes our disaed adult daughter. In addition to the spacious, comfortable home, the back patio is perfect for relaxing in the evening. We booked our next stay before we checked out. Looking forward to spending a weekend away from it all in this wonderful place where the family can enjoy the peace and comfort, while I explore the nearby history. Especially looking forward to the Ellis Railroad Museum. (Im a bit of a train geek) We love this home, and anytime oir travels take us past Ellis, we'll probably spend a night or two here relaxing from the rigors of the road."

The reservoir complements the picturesque Chalk Hills. The area's mixed grass prairie, river, lake, marshes, and riparian trees and shrubs teem with wildlife. Located in the central flyway, the lake is a stopping place for many species of waterfowl and shorebirds and offers excellent opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts for hunting, wildlife watching and photography.

Webster Wildlife Area encompasses 8,018 acres mostly surronding the Solomon River west of the reservoir. A variety of wildlife habitats are developed and maintained to enhance wildlife. The lake is known for its quality walleye, crappie, white bass, and channel catfish.

There is also a breakfast nook with microwave and coffee maker, a custom wooden table and 4 chairs where you can enjoy your morning with the beautiful light coming in from 2 of the many stained glass windows. The hearth room features an 8 foot electric fireplace with custom built bookcases, a faux sheep skin rug and 2 over-sized reading chairs. The great room has a 75" smart television, sectional sofa with pull out bed, piano for your enjoyment and one of the original church pews. The master bedroom includes a king size bed, unique headboard, full length mirror and armoire. The attached bathroom suite includes a free standing tub and walk-in open shower, with a double sink vanity. The guest bedroom includes a queen size bed with cozy furnishings. The laundry room includes a washer, dryer, sink and shower with attached water closet.
The lower level includes a family room with a 50" TV, with a small refrigerator and microwave with a bar area with 3 stools and a table that seats 6. Bedroom #3 has a queen bed with attached half bath. Bedroom #4 has a full bed. Located in the commons area is a bunk bed with full size bed on bottom and twin on top. There is also a full bath with shower located off the commons area.

The City of WaKeeney offers many restaurants, a swimming pool with playground, school playground, a dog park and several additional parks. WaKeeney is recognized as the Christmas City of the High Plains with a 35 foot tree made from fresh pine with over 6800 colored lights which is on display in the center of main street from the Saturday following Thanksgiving until after New Year's. WaKeeney is also known as the Gateway to Cedar Bluff Lake which is located approximately 20 miles to the southeast.

- "This was a stop over stay in route from OK to CO for a four wheeling trip. We had 2 trucks with 20 ft trailers and had no issues with parking or navigating through streets. In total there were 6 of us. When originally booked we planned on 12 of us and property would have been perfect for the 12 of us as well but the additional truck and 30 ft trailer would have been a challenge to park without intruding in neighbors space. Our historic 1906 Cottage Garden guest house is located on I-70 half-way between Kansas City & Denver, Colorado in WaKeeney, KS. Stroll across the brick street to the adjacent park which surrounds the historic native limestone courthouse. Guests may access the Schlyer Place Apartment, the basement laundry, the wrap around porch and the front yard. Please note that the basement laundry, backyard, front yard, and wrap around porch may be shared with other guests. Your apartment is completely private however.

-Please note there is another apartment above you with historic wood floors. Expect walking noises and murmuring if other guests are present. If you are a light sleeper, each bedroom is equipped with a white noise machine that has various tones and sounds to drown out walking noises above.

Our bathroom has all the amenities you will need including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels and a hairdryer. Upstairs there are 2 joined bedrooms each with a queen bed and a reading nook. Please be aware that you have to walk through the front bedroom to access the back one.

It is a double corner lot with plenty of space outside. For the hunters, this home was picked by a hunter and provides quick access to the 1000's of acres of Walk In Hunting Areas full of whitetails, mule deer, pheasant, quail, praire chickens, cottontails and jack rabbits.

Welcome to The Port! The house is newly renovated and ready to host your family gathering, hunting trip, girls’ weekend or peaceful retreat. You can explore parts of the Saline River to search for fossils, snag a catfish, or just relax on the sandbar. While we don't allow hunting on our property, there is WIHA just across the road from us.

Our property is 20 minutes from Gorham, 30 minutes from Russell, and 40 minutes from Hays.

There is an Ring Floodlight located above the front door that monitors the driveway and patio.

Long walks on the road, nearby public walk-in land, and the river bed were perfect for exercise. While we didn't use the room with the bunkbeds, the other beds were very comfortable and the large bathroom accomodated three adults easily. Kitchen & bath accommodations were plentiful. Hostess was quick to respond & very attentive."
