Our only concerns were that the WiFi was only working in the communal area and that the air-conditioning wasn't turned on before arrival, which required a few hours to cool down each room. When doing the walk through it seemed cleaning was done in rush, dust and trash still in all cabinets. On the other hand place was spacious for the family. "

- "We recently got home from our 7 night stay in Savusavu at the Pod House. We had such an amazing trip and have Jolene and her staff to thank. The house was very private, clean and comfortable. There were kayaks and snorkle gear for us to use, but we ended up buying our own snorkels while there. The area is very quiet with little to no noise, even the water was very calm due to being in the bay. The sunsets were unbelievable! The house came with basic supplies so we had to purchase things like condiments and toilet paper which we expected. Even though there is a TV, with a DVD player, some of the DVDs didn't work and there is no TV service. To be warned, there are steep stairs to climb to get to the Pod House, but they were helpful by bringing up heavy items, like our luggage. Taxis are plentiful, with a one-way trip costing about 8-10 FJD and takes about 10 mins to town. While in town, everyone was friendly and there were many restaurants to try. Jolene and some of the taxi drivers were knowledgeable of the restaurants and gave us ideas of places to go. One night we went to the Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort for dinner and unexpectedly got a Fijian show while there. We had such a great time during our stay and highly recommend staying here!"

- "We had a wonderful stay. The property is gorgeous, the staff takes care of you and the house, and Francis is great about answering all questions and supporting you while you are there. We weren't going to have the chef cook meals while we were there, but changed our minds after one night. First, because the food was delicious! Then secondly, because there were not many other restaurant options near by and transport was an extra step. Uber does not operate in this area, so transports have to be arranged in advance, but they take very good care of you when they do. If you are doing excursions to the islands, it will take a bit to get there and back. (90 minutes at least) We wish the pool was heated, as we were there the end of July and couldn't get in because it was too cold, but that is just the way it is in Fiji. Highly recommend this villa and the staff was such a bonus. We were able to be very independent yet supported! We all loved our stay. Thank you!!"

Our beach town is easy to get around with a few markets for groceries and a few restaurants in walking distance. You will really like Tramonto's restaurant and Coconut Grove restaurant which are on the water just minutes away. Taxis and buses are available to tour the island if you like. You can also rent your own car if you like. Our Villa is just a 3 min walk across to the runway for your convenience. roughly 2-3 planes a day arrive in Matei.

Wow! So much to see and do on Taveuni. And Vale Sakoula is the ideal place to stay. Reasonably priced, and outstanding personal care from Vinna, our housekeeper.
Aggie was our guide for incredible excursions that are beyond description. Amazing hikes to waterfalls that were like hiking in Jurassic Park, but without the predators!
The climate is very warm and humid, so having our very own pool to cool off in made it so much better. And the pool is a great spot to catch a beautiful sunrise and moon rise.
The night sky provides incredible stargazing of stars and constellations I had never seen from the Northern Hemisphere. Only a quick walk down the steps to the shoreline and you will find kayaks waiting for you to adventure out to nearby islands were you can snorkel the beautiful coral reefs. And the snorkel gear is provided at the house for your use. The house is very comfortable and full of Fijian art. Don't worry about charging your laptop, phone, or camera, there are plenty converters available.
The local area has great places to eat, or you can pick up some food at a local store and cook in the fully equipped kitchen or gas barbecue. Or you can arrange for Vinna to cook for you. The locals are so friendly and go out of their way to take care of you. I did not want to leave. Put this on your bucket list!

Not sure how else to explain our stay at Vale Sekoula besides the 3 nights we stayed were nothing short of exceptional! Robert was at the airport to meet us and help us with our luggage just a extremely short walk (maybe 1 minute walk) to the home. Once we walked through the gate you could tell the pride/care that has gone into the landscaping and gardens. The house sits over looking the beautiful Pacific with absolutely stunning sun rises! This home has all the amenities you need. The binder provided also has a ton of great information in it as well from local attractions to places to dine out. Vinna who is also one of the care takers of the home can also prepare meals for you. Although we didn’t use this service but we definitely will the next time and thought this was just an added bonus. The view from the bedroom is breathtaking especially in the morning with the sun rises. You couldn’t ask for a better view or place. This is the best vacation home we’ve ever been too and will be returning! Venna shared tomatoes from her garden as well as offered to help with anything we needed to make our stay more enjoyable. It’s very nice that they provided water, fruit, towels, bug spray, and all the other necessities! Also, we enjoyed having the option of watching some of the dvds and/or books from the home! Thank you again!

Vale Sekoula was the perfect place for us to stay on Taveuni. Don't let the fact that there are not many reviews scare you away. This place is a slice of paradise. Located literally across the street from the airport it is in a good central location which is in between the Booma waterfalls and the sliding rock/main portion of the town. The caretaker Vinna is so kind and was so helpful at arranging rides and accomodations. We also had her cook a local Fijian meal one of the nights which was absolutely delicious. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous with access to a nice beach and 2 Kayaks that you can take out to the islands in the distance. One one of our mornings we took the Kayaks out to the third island and experienced some of the best snorkeling we had experienced in all of Fiji and for that matter in all of the world. If we would have had more time we would have loved to spend an entire day relaxing at the house and adventuring out to the various islands. The pool was also perfect to relax in and there is an amazing view from it. If you do stay make sure to turn off all of the lights one night and look at the stars. They were breathtaking with little to no light pollution. One thing to note is that there is no AC which means it can get warm at night, but because the island is so small I don't think you can really expect AC in most places you would stay. Ceiling fans are nice! Taveuni was our favorite island we went to in Fiji and we would highly recommend taking a trip to experience the beauty of it for yourself. Best, Jason

Beautiful view overlooking the ocean. Only a 2 minute walk from the airport. (Which there are max 2 flights a day so no disruption at all nearly). House is good, pool is great.

Other things to note:
You are probably already aware that Taveuni is a more rural tropical destination. There are chickens, roosters and a few dogs in Matei so it is likely you will hear them in the mornings or sometimes at night. Taveuni is the "garden isle" of the Fiji islands so a few rain showers during the day is not uncommon. Also keep in mind that Fiji is in the tropics so it is common to see Geckos around and every now in then in the house, but they are cute and harmless. We are on solar power, so quiet generators may kick on if needed, but they are far from the home in a small power house shed away from the house.

Each 194m2 villa consists of 3 air-conditioned bedrooms, 1 master bedroom (Queen Bed) on the ground floor and another Queen Bedroom and Twin bedroom upstairs. There are 2 bathrooms on the ground floor, one is the ensuite for the master bedroom and the other includes the laundry with a washing machine and dryer and a walk in shower, toilet and basin. Upstairs there is an additional bathroom with a vanity and bath only and a separate toilet. There is a full kitchen, open plan lounge and dining area (please note there are ceiling fans in the living area and they are not air-conditioned) with a private BBQ area for your self catering needs and a shared pool.

The pool was perfect and we almost always had it to ourselves with only one other group staying. We enjoyed the fresh fruit, a walk along the old sugar cane railway and dinner out at The Junction restaurant. Rusi and Kelera were always helpful and communication was easy. You have to be very vigilant with small children as the pool is deep and unfenced and there is small cliff edge at the front of the property (with some bushes in front) but I think this is the case at most resorts etc with pools. This would be an amazing place if you had a big group and wanted to rent multiple villas! We used Coral Coast transfers to and from the airport and they were good value."

We're the perfect location for a remote yet accessible South Pacific experience — 10 minutes drive from Savusavu Airport, between the quaint town of Savusavu and the world-renowned Cousteau Resort. The property fronts the sea with beach access and continues up the hillside offering spectacular views and stunning jungle gardens of frangipani, hibiscus and red ginger.

Intimate, expansive and private, the villa compound is the perfect place to make memories with special people. The gathering area has a chef's kitchen, open-air lounge with library, and entertainment deck with sparkling infinity pool. There are two beautiful dining areas, one indoor and one outdoor, each with expansive views of the bay and the lush green mountains beyond. The open-concept kitchen is a chef's dream with a separate food preparation area, a conventional oven and a gas BBQ. It is well equipped with refrigerator and freezers, as well as extensive cupboard and counter space.

ENCHANTING LIVING AREAS, CUSTOMISED FOR YOU
The villa is comprised of seven separate buildings on two levels. The inviting kitchen, chic lounge, spacious primary suite and entertainment deck with infinity pool comprise the upper level. The breezy bedroom with king bed opens to an ocean-view deck and a private tropical garden. It offers spacious closets, dual sinks set on a raintree slab, an indoor rainbath shower and separate toilet, and an outdoor garden shower under the stars.

The lower level, connected by a 30 meter pathway through towering stands of bamboo, houses two additional private suites, each with a bedroom and queen bed, lounge and bath. Each bath has a rainbath shower and enclosed water closet. The lounge is perfect for your creative endeavors, or can be configured for sleeping, with either two single beds or a king size bed, enabling each bungalow to comfortably sleep 4. In addition, we have infant cots available. Every suite opens to an ocean-view private veranda overlooking our gorgeous bay.

8 ACRE PROPERTY + VILLA ACTIVITIES
Wander the organic garden and edible landscape. Harvest fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables. Frolic on a playing field with volleyball, bocce ball, croquet, footy and the like. Atop the property is the helipad, which doubles as the perfect setting for sundowners with its spectacular view of Savusavu Bay. You'll feel on top of the world here.

In the villa lounge is a TV and DVD player, with a collection of movies. You will also find free weights and yoga gear consisting of mats, blankets, blocks and straps. Truly, there is no more inspiring place to revive and get into your yoga groove than our native hardwood decks overlooking Savusavu Bay. By the sea, explore nearby vibrant reefs with kayaks included for use during your stay.

FIJIAN HOSPITALITY

The villa is strictly non smoking. We welcome children and have 2 infant cots and 1 high chair available. The tropical breezes and overhead fans are delightfully cooling — nonetheless, please note that the villa does not have air conditioning.

Check in is 4pm and check out is 10am. Maximum group size is 10.

- "The property was great and accommodated our family of ten very well for over 2 weeks. There were large decks with adjoining swimming pool that provided lots of spaces for sitting out and enjoying the sun. From the decks there were fantastic views during the day of Savusavu Bay and at night of the stars. The interior of the main house also had lots of space for cooking, eating and relaxing. Our host, Monica, was very helpful in arranging tours, finding restaurants, car rentals and, on our last night, procuring a band for entertainment. Her loyal staff was always ready to help in any way they could. Our family which included our grandkids, children and their spouses felt that Tavola and Vanua Levu provided the best holiday ever."

- "My stay on Wavi Island was EPIC!! The staff is amazing. They handled all of my arrangements in regards to excursions and travel to Wavi Island. We had a personal chef and a housekeeper that felt like friends. The setting is very tropical and well maintained. The villa is extremely nice,clean,and modern with authentic Fijian design nestled in between lush landscaping. The way the villa sits in the island with the view of the ocean is pretty amazing. There is a cool Lagoon where I collected sea shells and another area where you can meditate by the ocean and do yoga. Island is still under some construction and the staff did a very good job at accommodating all of my needs. Very exclusive island but close to everything in Savusavu."
