Coalface BnB is a purpose-built, private, light and airy space. It is tucked away on the Illawarra escarpment near the patrolled beach of Coledale and the dog friendly (off-leash) Sharky's beach, (named after a man, not a fish). The yard is fenced for furry friends.
Coalface is special as you feel miles from anywhere but it's just minutes away from surfing beaches, ocean pools, bush-walks, good coffee and food. When you are here you could be a million miles away, with none of the inconvenience of distance.
On the property itself, there are 7 acres of land for the adventurous to explore.The vegetation ranges from Eucalyptus to Rain-forest, with iconic Red Cedars, Sandpaper Figs and towering Turpentines. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of Lyre Birds, Wallabies and a vast amount of bird life, from tiny Blue Wrens to the matronly Wonga Pigeon as it waddles around foraging on the forest floor before reluctantly getting airborne.
Coalface B & B has been purpose-built for luxury accommodation. This means that convenience and comfort is built-in with parking right at the door, a private outdoor terrace separated from the family home by a brick courtyard wall, a hot &cold outdoor shower and bath, solely for guest use, a large indoor bath with views, a kitchenette and a separate entrance. You have a small orchard to wander and relax in and at night you can settle round the sandstone fireplace and enjoy an open fire under the stars.
Coalface BnB is an open plan studio style accommodation with a kitchenette and a private bathroom. The large bath comfortably overlooks garden and ocean views -lovely at dusk as the sky turns pink.... There is a large stacker sliding door opening from your room onto a sandstone terrace separated from the family home and garden by a brick courtyard wall.
When at Coalface, you are provided some cereals and 'pod' coffee or tea and eggs, when the chickens are laying, that you cook at your leisure. One of our favourite things to do is a refreshing morning swim and a late cooked breakfast in the garden.

There are wonderful walking tracks nearby, with the Royal National Park and the Wodi Wodi track to the north and Gibson's and Sublime Point tracks to the south. A 30km coastal cycling track is also nearby.
Coalface BnB is situated on the site of the historic No. 2 Bulli Coal Mine which opened in the 1890's.
Coledale is just over the Seacliff Bridge nestled between the magnificent Illawarra escarpment and a string of glorious sandy beaches. Coledale has a lovely new general store / newsagent, and an R.S.L. providing lunches and dinners Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun. There is a popular restaurant, as well as 2 cafes and a bottle shop.
Give your dog some 'holiday time' as well at the leash-free local Sharky's beach. (Pets by arrangement on booking).
Enjoy a beach-side BBQ at Coledale Beach, patrolled 7 days in the summer, with free BBQ's under the stately Norfolk Pines. Coledale hosts a vibrant monthly market (4th Sunday each month). Great food and crafts to be found.
Surfers will be glad to know we are a stone's throw from Tommo's, Sharkys and the Boiler room. Not much further to Peggy's, McCauleys and Sandon Point.
There is great snorkelling to be had around the rocky headlands and bays. For a small fee some gear is available.

Hidden away in a small and quiet complex is this first floor holiday pad. Very comfortable and well equipped, it will provide you with a perfect young family accommodation.
There are two bedrooms, main has a king size bed. Second bedroom has bunk beds that sleep three. You can put the kids safely away to be entertained with their own TV, stereo and a DVD player (selection of DVDs supplied).
There is a sofa bed in the living room, which can be used by prior arrangement for a larger family.
There is no need to drive anywhere once you make yourself comfortable, as everything you need is at your doorstep. Step out to the patrolled Thirroul Beach, Olympic size swimming pool, surf club, state of the art kids play park, and a recreation park just across the street.
In addition, there is the newly refurbished Thirroul Beach Pavilion, with a café on the promenade overlooking the beach. Thirroul village is approximately 100 meters away with its fine eateries, Anita’s Theatre, shops and pubs.

About the property:
Perfectly located by one of the most sought after holiday landmarks, this beautiful lodge is perfect for a weekend gateaway or a family holiday.
Extensively refurbished and newly furnished, this property consists of the upper level of a two storey home, completely separate as an independent dwelling. One of the bedrooms has its’ own separate access and ensuite, which would be perfect for an extended family or elderly parents.
Please note that the back yard is not available for guests use.
The lodge is very comfortable and well equipped for a perfect holiday or a weekend away. But you won’t want to spend too much time indoors, with expansive Paul John Reserve, Sandon Point Beach and tidal rockpools right on your doorstep.
The scenic views from the lodge extend over the ocean to the east to the escarpment to the west. Just relax on the north facing balcony to soak up the breathtaking vistas, while you enjoy a BBQ and drinks with your friends and family.
If you are looking for accommodation for 10 people, there is a separate, self contained studio on the ground level, but you need to check availability, or contact us for more information.

Quiet hours for outside noise from 10pm – 8am. There is plenty of room to socialise inside.
To maintain a high standard for tenants the following conditions of occupation apply:
(a) Use of premises – the premises are let for holiday purposes only and for the period stated on the receipt.
(b) Smoking is not permitted inside the house.
(c) Number of guests should NOT exceed the number stated in the Confirmation Notice unless subsequently agreed in writing or email. Additional fees will apply for excess guests not agreed with the Owner in advance and these will be deducted from the bond.
(d) Parties and Functions are strictly prohibited. The premises are located in the residential area of Thirroul and have a strict no party policy. NO weddings, parties or large gatherings are permitted.
(e) Noise – Noise to be kept to a minimum. With NO outside noise from 10pm. In the event of noise complaints which result in Holiday Letting Organisation or Police call out, or should a noise order be issued, the Owner reserves the right to immediately evict the Tenant and retain the whole of the bond.
(f) Damage, Breakages, Theft and Loss – the Tenant is responsible for the tenant’s personal property. The cost of repair or replacement of any item in the premises or the premises itself due to damage and/or breakages will be deducted from the bond and may include additional charges.
(g) No pets are allowed under any circumstances.

GETWUNTOO is the entire top floor of a two story home, situated on beach frontage of Trinity Row on the beautiful Sandon Point beach at Bulli NSW. Located between Thirroul and Bulli beaches with the most amazing views and immediate beach access. This property is all about beach side living. Back yard can be secured for small children. Would suite two families or larger group with booking for up to six then additional cost per person for extras above six. Now with fully ducted reverse cycle air conditioning. 4 bedrooms,2queen beds,3singles,1 queen fold out sofa bed. Suits 6 comfortably but can sleep up to 9 sharing at extra costs per person above 6.

The beach is patrolled in summer with flags located 200 meters to the north for safe swimming and a fifty meter pool south at Bulli beach. Fishing, cycling, walks, whale watching from the balcony when migrating, dolphins cruising the beach. Check out the locals kite surfing out the front when windy or just relax with a drink, its up to you. Get up early and watch the sun come up over the ocean for an amazing sunrise or have breakfast at the breakfast bar or balcony and watch the joggers go by. Maybe just lie in bed and watch the sun rise over the ocean then hit the beach for an early swim or walk on one of the safest beaches on the east coast. We have some awesome surf breaks including Sandon point, Peggy's and various beach breaks. The cycleway/walkway is immediately out the front and is a fairly level to Wollongong and further. A massive mowed soccer/park is just steps away for those cricket,soccer or outdoor games. Three coffee/restaurants are within a few minutes walk. Woonona to the south and Thirroul to the north having some fine eateries. A small shopping complex including Woolworth's is just up the road for all your supplies as only minimal items supplied. To the west is the Illawarra escarpment with a variety of walking and bike trails to explore. Other attractions include: Seacliff bridge, Symbio wild life park, Illawarra fly, Wollongong City10 minutes away, Golf courses, Royal National Park, hang gliding at Bald hill, Sky dive the beach. Deep sea fishing, Sunday forages market at Bulli Greyhound track.Easy day trips to Sydney, Kiama and the Southern highlands. If you love camping and love the bush, but want comfort as well (without the colourbond fence!)
- The shack is for you!
The Bower Bird Shack is a cosy apartment built from new and recycled materials and with an ecologically sound waterless toilet. It is nestled in the bush near the popular Sharkey's and Coledale Beaches. It is up and away from the blustery nor-easters that come through in a cool, bush setting. So relaxing and private, yet close to shops, restaurants, clubs, cafes and of course, beaches.
From the comfortable queen bed, you may see, if you are quiet enough, a Bower Bird hopping about its business in the green foliage. There is also single bunk beds in the generous sized family bedroom and a sofa bed in the sitting area.
The Bower Bird Shack is a hidden treasure. It has the comforts of a queen size bed with a top quality latex mattress. The family bedroom is separated from the rest of the apartment with a door, it has 1 queen and a set of single bunk beds in the bedroom with fantastic views out the large bedroom windows into the natural bush garden.
A fully equipped kitchen (quaint early 80's style in great shape) with stove top, oven and grill. The kitchen and lounge are one cosy space, with a raised bench to enjoy a coffee and the peaceful bush.
The bathroom is equipped with a separate shower with a large rain shower head and separate bath. A unique feature of the shack is its ecologically sound waterless toilet. This is a state of the art Canadian designed composting toilet system certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 41.
You will find, however, that you want to spend most of your time outdoors. The outdoor area has a dining table under the trees and is pleasantly private.
If you love the relaxed atmosphere of camping, but want a comfortable bed - This is for you! Bring your own linens to take advantage of our low advertised rate, or ask us to supply them for $25 per person per stay.
Enjoy privacy, bush and why not have a campfire at night!

Pet-sitting is available by arrangement when suitable, however, pets are not to be left in accommodation unsupervised.
CHILDREN are also welcomed at The Bower Bird Shack.
Please Note, however: The property is NOT FENCED. There are potential hazards for unsupervised children as you would expect in a bush setting adjacent to a furniture workshop and with creek nearby. Conveniently located in the heart of Coledale village, you will find everything everything practically at your doorstep - the village shops and cafes, two beaches and a rock pool.
The apartment is pet friendly, by prior arrangement. There is a wrap around balcony with a safety gate and a dog flap for your pets to use during your stay. Off leash dog friendly Sharkey Beach is 100m away.
New double glazed windows and doors have been installed for the guests comfort.
The apartment is located above the “Saltie Dog" crapes & coffee shop, so you can drop in for a bite to eat or a great coffee any time.
This solid double brick apartment is spacious and comfortable, you will enjoy your stay any time of the year. The kitchen is well equipped and you get some thoughtful inclusions like an air/con unit, a portable BBQ and a chest freezer for your ice packs.
Cross the street and you are at a dog friendly "Sharkeys Beach" to the right, often frequented by the locals. Walk along the rock platform to the Rock Pool and patrolled Coledale Beach to the left.
The access to the apartment is from the back, you can drive through the side lane off Northcote Street. Additional street parking is along Cater Street or Northcote Street.
Coledale train station is just up Cater Street, so you can leave the car at home and have a relaxing gateaway by the beach.
You can catch a courtesy bus from Coledale Beach to the newly refurbished Imperial Hotel in Clifton, offering amazing food and drink all day long, with amazing views and unforgettable atmosphere. Afterwards a walk along the famous Sea Cliff Bridge will take your breath away with the unique scenery, where the mountain meets the sea.

The Location
Coledale is a small but vibrant community perched on the sea under a towering escarpment. With only a few streets and a scattering of shops it offers a chance to get away from the ‘rat race’ to a place where people still greet you in the street.
There are a variety of food options from "Earth Walker" and "Saltie Dog", to the RSL and “Sharkeys” takeaway, all within two minutes’ walk. The “Coledale Cellars” stocks an impressive range of wines and beers and there is even a hairdresser and a beauty salon part of the village precinct.
Wander or swim in the cove and enjoy the simple pleasures of life; rock-pools, scuttling crabs, mini-aquariums, algae and sand underfoot. Dive or fish from the rocks, or swim in the 50 metre pool carved into the rock platform. Take a five minute walk to Sharkey Beach or head north along the sand for five minutes to the patrolled Coledale Beach.
There is plenty to do and see around. Stop for lunch at the iconic Scarborough Hotel and tuck into the gourmet pub food, followed by a walk along the famous Sea Cliff Bridge and a meal at the newly refurbished Imperial Hotel in Clifton.
Drive to Austinmer for coffee and cake in the afternoon, the famous Headland Hotel offers great food and drink options. Try one of Thirroul’s fancy eateries for a special dinner, or treat yourself to a spot of shopping. This location really does have it all.

Perfectly located by Thirroul’s most sought after holiday landmarks, this 2nd floor apartment is perfect for a weekend gateaway.
There are two bedrooms, one has a king size bed and the other one has bunk beds that sleep 3.
All linen is provided, just bring your beach towels.
There is no need to drive anywhere once you make yourself comfortable, as everything you need is at your doorstep. Step out to the patrolled Thirroul Beach, Olympic size swimming pool, surf club, state of the art kids play park, and a recreation park just across the street.
In addition, there is the newly refurbished Thirroul Beach Pavilion, with a café on the promenade overlooking the beach. Thirroul village is approximately 100 meters away with its fine eateries, Anita’s Theatre, shops and pubs.

Completely separate from the main dwelling, the property has its own entry and it is fully self contained. But you won’t want to spend too much time indoors, with expansive Paul John Reserve, Sandon Point Beach and tidal rockpools right on your doorstep.
An ideal stop over when your attend a wedding or visiting family or friends, yet providing a relaxing break by the beach.
Location:
Sandon Point with its Surf Life Saving Club is known as one of the best places to surf in the area.
The 13km Bike track that is a walking, jogging and bicycle track runs from Wollongong to Thirroul, follow the coastline with magnificent views of the beautiful beaches and the Pacific Ocean. You can stop for a coffee at one of the great cafes located in Bulli.
You can stock up on your provisions at Woolworths in Bulli, as well as visit fabulous street cafes and specialty shops and aboutiques.
Bulli Foragers Market is open every Sunday 9-2 and is a great place to visit, offering great atmosphere, fabulous food, music and loads of stalls to browse.

Wanganella at Coledale is a well appointed fully self contained holiday apartment located up the road from Sharkeys and Coledale Beach and Rock pool & nearby the monthly Coledale market known for its food and artisan stalls and a variety of entertainment. It is a cool in Summer and warm and cosy in winter with the fireplace to relax in from of. Is located on the ground floor with your own rear deck to sit back on and take in the expansive beach and ocean views. Private access, spacious open plan living with fireplace, equipped kitchen, dining table and large bedroom with Queen Size bed. There is an office desk and safe for those needing to work away from home. Ideal for Couples or Solo travellers. Guests can explore bush walking trails, fishing, snorkelling, cycling, surfing art and culture and wonderful fresh dining options all located nearby.
Conveniently located within easy walking distance from Coledale Train Station and bus stops are also nearby.
There is a graveled level area just beyond the lawn and in front of the view – this is a Petanque Piste for a game like boules played mainly in Provence. There is a set of boules (together with the rules) provided. The bottle of complementay Prosecco in the fridge - might aid the aim!!!!
If guests are self-catering they are welcome to help themselves to the herbs in the garden – Basil, Thyme, Parsley, Oregano and French Tarragon. If lucky there may be some tiny forest strawberries ripe. Depending on the season there may be rocket or perpetual spinach.
Beach umbrella, esky, beach towels and beach chairs are provided as well a large umbrella for the terrace.
Neighbouring Thirroul has supermarkets, a fish shop and a couple of green grocers. There is a collection of cook books in the flat to perhaps provide inspiration.
Within walking distance (down the hill) are cafes and the RSL and a bottle shop (a tip – walk up the hill on the other side of the street, it is less steep).
WHY WANGANELLA
There is a porthole from the MS Wanganella in the front door of the house- hence the name for the holiday flat.
The ship was built in Belfast and used as a passenger ship between Australia and New Zealand from 1933. After World War II it was turned into a hospital ship (1941-1946) and brought back Australian POWs from Borneo in September 1945.
One of the POWs wrote of her: “the Wanganella, she rode quietly at anchor unperturbed by wind or tide…..”

- "This is a great property. My sister and I had a supremely relaxing time here. The beds were excellent, comfortable, large with quality linens. The dishwasher, washing machine and dryer easy to operate and efficient. It's a beautifully presented apartment, a couple of terraces to enjoy and close to many amenities. Instructions we received were very clear. We were a little concerned about the noise 'bleed' from Anita's Theatre below and the live music from the pub across the road, but there was little, nothing to keep us awake. The stairs are many and slightly problematic, but then we are in our 60's and 70's, so thought ahead and organised for some youngsters to take our luggage up and down. There are railings on both sides of each of the three staircases. It's an easy walk to the beach where there is a lovely park and ocean fed pool - perfect. We ate at the Beaches Hotel just across the road, Madam Choi, the Thirroul Beach Pavilion, Headland Hotel in Austinmer all of which were very acceptable. The absolute standout in our opinion was the Austi Beach Cafe also in Austinmer - almost perfect dishes! All in all, we loved this place and had an extremely relaxing and enjoyable 5 days in seaside Thirroul. Highly recommended"

Stylish studio close to gorgeous beaches and beautiful tropical rain forest . Short walk to great cafes and restaurants. Visit the local micro brewery Resin for a pint or check out some live music at the many local music venues. Woolworths and other convenience stores are just a short stroll.
Our very spacious, funky self contained studio is complete with its own lounge, TV, kitchen, bathroom, laundry and courtyard. A split level staircase creates a perfect balance of space and connection between this and the bathroom / laundry area. Comfortable Eva sofa can allow for a relaxing evening in on the couch and with blockout blinds you will ensure your sleep ins. Separate driveway for easy parking and level access and the studio comes with a split system air-conditioning unit for your comfort. Spend your days relaxing on the beach or explore the tropical rainforest with the numerous walking tracks throughout the escarpment.

It is situated only a short walk to several beaches and ocean pools, Coledale RSL and local cafes, a bottle shop, tennis courts and oval, and the train station - our studio is located right in Coledale village on a quiet lane.

The studio has rear lane private access via a few stairs. When you enter you head downstairs under a gorgeous skylight to a lovely queen bedroom or upstairs to the living room and deck.
Guests have the whole studio and patio to themselves. The Studio is situated in the back yard of the host house.
The space could accommodate a baby or small child in a portacot but take care on the stairs. There is a kid safe gate to use at the top of the stairs.

Our coastal village of Wombarra (meaning Black Duck) is set between the sandstone cliffs of the Illawarra escarpment and the blues of the Pacific Ocean. It is about an hour drive from the Sydney CBD, along the coastal road. When you cross the now famous Seacliff Bridge and pass by the popular ocean facing Imperial and Scarborough Hotels, you will know you are only a few kilometres away.
On arrival, you will find a large, sunny deck facing towards the ocean, across the tree tops. The apartment is decorated in an eclectic vintage style with light filled spaces and high ceilings. There is a fully equipped kitchen featuring a 6 burner gas top stove, full oven and fridge. The fireplace provides a warm ambience for those chilly, winter nights.
You have a private entry and your own designated parking. The keys will be in the lock box conveniently located on the verandah where you walk into the apartment. We also provide condiments, coffee and tea and other essentials to get you started on a relaxing break.
Wombarra beach retains a wild, pristine beauty, constantly changing with the seasons and tides. It is an easy 5 minute stroll away, with an ocean pool great for swimming. It has a patrolled section at the north end of the beach, in the busy times.
The local 1950's Bowlo is at the bottom of the garden, where you can enjoy a quiet drink and sometimes enjoy live, acoustic music, or grab a thai meal to dine in or take away. There are great walks along the coast in both directions, including the Royal National Park, just 15 minutes up the road.
The nearby villages of Coledale, Austinmer, Stanwell Park and Thirroul all host a variety of shops and great places to eat.
