- "This apartment was not what I was expecting. To get to it you walk off the street and through a families property. The apartment itself looks like the pictures but is much older in real life. I was concerned about insects etc, fortunately I had no issues at all apart from the odd ant and gecko. Unfortunately there was no air conditioning though there are fans and lots of windows to open. Your space: You are renting a whole apartment unit of 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, kitchen, living-dining in a second floor (yes, there will be stairs to climb). Within the boutique resort complex, you can take benefits of swimming in a large swimming pool with beautiful views. The location is in close proximity to all amenities Ubud has to offer.
Please note: we do not have a lobby; it is paramount that you announce your ETA (estimated time of arrival) at our property so that our staff can wait for you and help you with checking in and with carrying your luggage. However, all check-ins after 6pm will have to be self check-in (step by step instructions with pictures will be provided). Failure to tell us your ETA even though it’s before 6pm, or, arrival beyond ETA will also mean that you have to do self check-in. Don’t worry though, self check in with the pictures instructions is very easy. :)

Interaction/communication:
When my unit is rented, that means I'm not in Ubud; I would be in Arizona, USA. I can communicate with you through this VRBO/HA platform but there is a 15 hours time difference. I will give you my staff's phone number for the local contact. She takes care the apartment and will do her best efforts to make sure your stay enjoyable.

Other things to note:
It might be surprising to learn that although it is the tropics, Bali has actually water crisis. Please help us to conserve water.
Towels are changed every 3 days. There is drying rack, please dry your towels on the porch when not in used. Sheets are changed every 6 days. (Of course, everything is freshly washed every change of guests).
There is no safety box.
There is no DVD.
Check out is at the latest 11 AM. Sorry, we don't have a space to store your luggage upon checkout.
Check in is at or after 1 PM.
Another important note:
Not just this property, but there are many stairs on the entire island of Bali.

- "Photos don’t do this place justice. It’s very spacious , high ceilings, great sized kitchen and living room space and work table or dining. Bed was very comfortable, air con worked great. Daily cleaning was a nice touch. There’s a pool but it’s chlorine so we didn’t swim but it was kept up. You can walk out the back of the property into the rice fields and explore the village. It’s a bit further than central Ubud but we didn’t mind as we love to walk and experience the city at a slower pace. Yoga studio right beside the home. Construction was happening adjacent but didn’t disturb us at all. Would come back in a heart beat!"

The apartment is great, spacious enough for us (2 people). Although we did eat out a lot (eating out in Bali is quite inexpensive so you gotta do that. Lol) we also found the kitchenette to be a great feature, enabling us to boil hot water for our tea at any given time, boil an egg and toast our bread for breakfast. It really served us well and at the same time its small size made it fit perfectly in a dining-living room situation. The house keeper was really nice too. We loved the garden, definitely. The spacious lawn behind the house is a genuinely unique option for Ubud where houses and villas usually have squeezed between other buildings and have just symbolic territory. The azure light pouring from the suspended ceiling and pictures with sea themes gave us the idea for the name of this house.
The space
The light fresh wind sweeps over the territory. The birds are singing around. Tree crowns are barely sway. You are going through the gate and then along the small paved stoned path to the house. The colors are surprisingly bright and saturated: the grass is so green and the sky is so blue! You are on the holiday finally!
For your disposal: two spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a living room with a kitchen zone. The house is well-equipped with a sofa, dinning table, work table, bar, 2-doors fridge, water dispenser, air-cooler, etc. Both bedrooms are air-conditioned. The sliding doors look directly to the pool - so your bed just in a few meters from the luring water!
For your information: my family lives upstairs, so despite that house consists of four bedrooms just two bedrooms downstairs are for rent. There is a separate entrance to the second floor from outside and that means you will have full privacy. Also, pay attention we don't use the pool for ourselves; the pool is just for guests. Thanks to our proximity we are always ready to help you in a fast manner. If you have any difficulties feel free to ask us.

- "It was so bad. We came in late afternoon and prepared to leave immediately the next morning. The smell of mold and mildew was so heavy that they used many fragrance devices to cover the smell but that only made us worse. The bathrooms were seeping sewer gas smells and we opted to urinate outside as you couldn’t breath in the bathrooms, the sewer smell filled one bedroom and the other was full of mildew and deodorizers so we all slept on the floor and couch in the main living space until we could get out of there. Also the plot next door was burning trash and compost so for several hours the house was filled with smoke. It was pure poison. We left as soon as we could and they refused a refund and just ignored the messages explaining why we left. The painting in one bedroom was pretty and the couch was comfortable…. Although it was filled with ants on the side my husband slept."

The 2-story building is nestled within a traditional family compound in Ubud. It's a captivating scene on ceremonial days to watch the family engage in prayer, offer tributes, and adorn their temple, offering guests a genuine glimpse into Bali's culture. The family also owns a small restaurant, 'Warung Makan Ibu Nyoman,' in the front, catering to locals.

The apartment is at the back, far away from the busy road, on the bottom floor of the 2-story building, with its own lockable separate entrance. Newly fully renovated, it comes with all the amenities you require. The AC is new and will be serviced quarterly. You can access all you see in the pictures, of course. There is a small garden right in front of the building, where you can also park your motorcycle and some roosters in the back.

Our cleaning lady, Ibu Wayan, will come twice per week to clean and change the bedsheets and towels. If you have laundry, please let her know that you want it cleaned for 15,000 IDR per kg. She will bring it back next time or, at the latest, after a week. If you need faster laundry service, there are several laundry shops in the same street.

You can check in without hassle, as the keys are in lockboxes just outside the door. We will let you know the code just before you arrive. This is also where you place the key when you check out. If you need anything else, just send us a quick message.

Roosters are a common feature in Bali, contributing to its unique charm. For a bit more quietness and mosquito-free evenings, we enclosed the living room and kitchen area.

Smoke-Free Policy
As we have smoke detectors and want to keep the apartment free of unpleasant smells, please do not smoke anywhere in the apartment.

Pets
While Yoga (our neighbor) and his wife have adorable pets - Molly (a fluffy dog) and two cats (Ciro and Ucik) – we ask that you, please do not let them into the apartment, even when they look at you with their super cute eyes. This helps us keep the space clean and allergen-free for all guests.

Penestanan is the place where Bali long-term residents live. Many bars, restaurants, yoga places, spas, and nature activities are nearby. The best part is, you do not have to hassle with traffic as everything is nearby. However, if you still want to go to the center of Ubud, it's just a few minutes away.

Pets
While Yoga (our neighbor) and his wife have adorable pets - Molly (a fluffy dog) and two cats (Ciro and Ucik) – we ask that you, please do not let them into the apartment, even when they look at you with their super cute eyes. This helps us keep the space clean and allergen-free for all guests.

Tropical Bali
Bali, being a tropical island, is home to ants and various other insects. Just keep that in mind. We've taken measures by installing fine mosquito mesh in the bathroom and some windows.

Electricity Usage
Electricity's covered in the price, but we do have a fair use policy when it comes to cranking up the AC a lot. Thanks for being cool about it!

The space
1) Amazing location. Central but quiet with a view
In a busy part of Ubud, Samastiti's residence is located at the bottom of Jalan Hanoman.
There are over 50 great restaurants within walking distance. ( we will provide you a list of our favorite ones)
You are a few minutes' walks from the famous Yoga Barn, the shopping of Jalan Hanoman, the HUBUD coworking space, the Arma museum, and the monkey forest. Forget about driving and getting stuck in the heavy traffic in Ubud. Here, you can do everything on foot.

Yet we are at the back of a hotel so the house is very quiet and surrounded by nature but you need to walk 100 meters through the hotel pathway to access the house.
We are perfect for people looking for quiet in the center of Ubud BUT our house is not great if you have mobility issues.

Coco and Pepito supermarkets (are located within 5-10 minutes walk which makes it convenient to stock up on whatever you need.

We are one of the only private pool villas in the area and most of our neighbors are hotels which means we have limited noise from dogs or rosters in the morning

2) Great internet - the perfect place to work from home
While 100% internet reliability doesn't exist in Bali (sorry), we are connected to Biznet, one of the fastest and most reliable internet providers on the island.
We have wifi at 100mbps so you can stream and do video calls easily.
Despite having the best provider on the island, we still experience an outage from time to time as 100 percent internet reliability doesn't exist in Bali.
We have installed an extender near the pool so that you can access the internet in your rooms but also near the pool.

3) An private infinity pool
The private infinity pool overlooking the small river and the ricefield is an amazing place to relax. You can spend an afternoon watching dragonflies, birds, and squirrels, ...

4) An infrared sauna
NEW: we have just installed a far infrared sauna that is shared between the 3 residences on our property. It is great to relax your muscles after a yoga class or a day of hiking around Ubud. Far infrared saunas have great health benefits and are more relaxing than traditional saunas

5) A Balinese artist's house
The house was built by Dewa Nyoman Batuan. He is a famous Balinese artist and you can find his paintings in museums like the Arma or Neka museums. We are lucky to still have many of his art in the house. You will find his amazing mandala paintings on the wall and frescoes on the terrace.

Samastiti residence is one of the oldest houses in the area and is full of characters. We are following Balinese traditions, have 3 temples or altars within the house. You might be lucky to witness a ceremony in the house as they usually happen 4 times a month

6) Eco-Friendly
We designed this house to be as eco-friendly as possible and we look for guests who share our respect for the earth. We recycle trash, do composting, have a solar water heater, use natural pest controls as much as possible, and have a permaculture-inspired food garden. If you are lucky, you might get to try our homegrown fruit and vegetables. In the garden, we have planted avocado, mangosteen, coconuts, papaya, banana, durian, passion fruits, strawberries, and pineapples

7) western comfort.
The house has been totally renovated to western comfort. New plumbing, electricity, bathrooms, mosquito nets in all bedrooms...

The 2 bedrooms have windows fenced with mosquito nets which allows you to sleep with the windows open. We also have automated windows that you can close should you wish to use the air conditioning in the room.
One of the 2 bathrooms is open and has a fishpond inside (!) while the other one is enclosed. Both bathrooms have a bathtub.

We have a washing machine that you can use if you stay with us for a few days and need to do laundry.

8) Free water, Tea, and Coffee
A gallon of Nestle drinking water is provided free of charge. As well as tea and coffee.

9) Help you plan your trip to Bali
There is a lot to do in Ubud beyond yoga and relaxing so make sure you book a long enough stay. Most of Bali is accessible on day trips.
We can recommend a great driver and help you book activities like bicycle tours, volcano hikes, rafting, or even Gili and Penida boat transfers.

You get full access to the residence at the lower part of the house.
There is an apartment upstairs with its own entrance but the 3 residences are very independent.
The residence has an independent entrance, a private terrace and lounging area, and an amazing private infinity pool with a view of rice fields. It also has a private kitchen, an open-air living room 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and a fishpond.
Only the far infrared sauna is shared between the 3 residences
Other things to note
1) While we are at the end of a path and next to the river, we are located in between 4 et 5 stars hotels. The hotel to the left is quite tall and guests from the hotel can view our garden infinity pool.
One of the yoga barn studio is located at the bottom of the garden beside the river and we can sometimes hear them "Oming"

2) We ask our guests to avoid parties and loud noises to show respect to our neighbors. This is a quiet neighborhood and we would like to keep it like this. No outside guests are allowed in the villa

3) the house can be hard to find on your first trip. We recommend using one of our recommended drivers to make your arrival easier

4) we can accommodate late check-in but we ask that if you arrive late from the airport, you book one of our recommended drivers so that we can organize the keys with him.
5) If you want to arrive before our scheduled check-in time or leave later, we have a storage room where we can store your bags while you go and explore Ubud. You just need to inform our housekeeper so that she can open the door of the storage room for you.

6) For your safety, we have installed CCTV cameras in the outdoor areas. We aslo provide safety boxes in the bedrooms

7) Cancellation or refund is not possible for the following reasons:

Please note, at the moment across from our house is a house renovation. Sometimes noise happens. Usually they start working so 8:00am - 2:00pm.

It's only ten minutes drive into Ubud Central, just far enough out to enjoy the peace and serenity Ubud has to offer.This once in a lifetime opportunity will give you the chance to experience local Balinese culture. You will wake up to the sounds of nature, local farming and explore life in a real village, meet locals and buy fruit from local stalls. You can also make your own Canang (offering) and participate in the daily ceremonies

The space
The upstairs rooms with private access and spacious space provided a king size bed and a single bed with private bathroom and separated kitchen along with the basic cooking equipment, Very suitable for small family, couple or group of three.
First filtered bottle water (20 liters) is provided and the fridge is also ready to store your kitchen supplies.
Seating that is good inside and at the balcony will allow you to relax, enjoy the semi jungle, read a book and listen to the sounds of nature.
Bed side tables, working table, air conditioning, ceiling fans, wardrobes and hot water will make your stay easy and comfortable.

At the family compound :
You will go through the traditional family compound and meet one of my family who will only show your room upstairs.
Please feel free to walk around the garden, see the family temple any time during your stay.
Available a parking space for your scooter and car but car parking is semi open air beside of the Compound.

My family are available and happy to assist whenever you need help. We live on site and you are welcome to come and chat or ask for help.

Other things to note
1.We would like you to enjoy our local village/community and environment, please be aware we live in a rural community and you may hear my family activities at the compound, chickens, dogs and animals as well as see little bugs, lizards, butterflies and local business sometimes.

2.Breakfast are included in the first night only, because we serve traditional Balinese breakfast, the next breakfast will be charged 5$/person and please inform us to order beforehand.

3.Cleaning service :
- 1 to 7 nights you wont have cleaning service because we provide weekly only but you could order at an extra fee of 100$.
- 7 to 10/15 you will have one time cleaning service on request.
- 7 to 20/28 you will have two times cleaning service on request and so on.

4. If your trash is full please tie it up in plastic, take it into the main bin located near the family compound door gate.

5. Washing machine is to share but you still need to dry it under the sun to get dry properly and please don't hang it at the front of your Balcony as facing the Hindu family religious temple just to be respect with the spirit.

6. I offer a scooter for rent as well as Tour and Transport business so i could organize any day trip and activities during your stay in Ubud, as well as airport pick up/drop off and private sightseeing to suit your need.

my place distance from the road is about 50 metress. Just next door, there is a balinese vegan food named siboghana warung. Only 300 metress from pepito supermarket and ARMA museum. Many restaurant, laundry, a gym arround the place.
