The Patio Houses are in the heart of the historic center of Coimbra, on an unexpected courtyard located on Rua Fernandes Thomaz, inside the old Coimbra wall, just a few meters from one of the doors of the medieval city, the Arco de Almedina, the picturesque Coast breaker and the monumental Sé Velha.
The Houses result from the restoration in 2022 of the building of the old Correio-mor, the first postal service in Portugal, created in 1520 by King D. Manuel.

The Houses are the result of the restoration in 2022 of the building of the former Correio-mor, the first postal service in Portugal, created in 1520 by King D. Manuel I. It was maintained the facade of the building, and the interior was completely renovated and created several modern spaces and completely equipped for 2 to 5 people, having access to a private courtyard inside. Each House was given a name that refers to the old use of the building: Post Office House, Seal House, Letter House, Carrier House, Postal House, Order House and Mala-response House.

A year after getting married in Portugal we managed to acquire Vila Julieta as a ruin to make our common dream reality, turn it into a Guesthouse.
Making our guests feel at home and spoiling them with our delicious breakfast of fresh, seasonal and local produce is what we love to do.

The space
Vila Julieta is a carefully century-old refurbished Vila maintaining its ancient charm inside and out whilst our guests can benefit of contemporary comfort. If you feel like it, you can have your breakfast in our front garden in between orange trees and lots of lovely smelling plants.
After a long day of sightseeing and walking around the city you can also lie down in the shade of our walnut-tree in the backyard and relax.

Guest access
Beside your room you have access to the gardens, the breakfast area, the living room and kitchen, where you are welcome get a freshly roasted coffee or tea.
No cooking is allowed, however the microwave is at your disposal.

During your stay
We are happy to welcome you as of 15h in the afternoon and are present until about 18h, however if you arrive after, you will be able to self-check in with an access code sent to you prior to your arrival.
You are welcome to drop off your bags and visit the city if you arrive before your room is ready for you.
Breakfast is served from 8h30-10h and check-out is until 11h.

Other things to note
Vila Julieta is situated in the barrio Conchada, which is a quiet neighbourhood with all sorts of facilities nearby, like a bakery, small grocery shops, a pharmacy and cafés.
The best of all is that it takes only a 10 min walk to the city center of Coimbra and a 15 min walk to the world heritage university site.
