- "We arrived rather late after a long drive from Cape Town, and were dismayed to find that the buzz boxes weren’t working. Thankfully we followed in a truck and they could hear the honk at the closer gate. The receptionist was very nice. The lodge that we stayed in was spacious but the floors were dirty and the bathtub needed to be run a while to get past the dirt in the pipes. Be aware that they don’t have dinner options, regardless of the first picture, and town is about 15 min away and restaurants close early. We ended up with road snacks for dinner. Breakfast was good and filling with a great view of the giraffes. Wish I would have sent a message to the hotel about our arrival and food options ahead of time. "

One of shower rooms was a little tired and could have been spruced up. Clean towels every day was much appreciated. We felt safe and secure which was very important to our overseas companion, who had concerns about safety in South Africa. The use of free Wifi was essential to us to keep in contact with family and friends abroad. It was great to have a decent fridge even though it was only used for cool drinks and wine. The BBQ was large enough for both vegetarian and meat BBQs without upsetting anyone. I will go again."

It offers limited space for self-catering and we suggest that everyone joins in for the Freedom O Clock dinner of the day. We serve delicious home cooked dinners daily (vegetarian options available) as well as breakfasts and lunches.
ABLUTION
Ablutions are communal with flush toilets and rocket shower. The shower runs off paraffin and takes only 30 seconds for the water to heat up.
OUTDOORS
Enjoy chilling on the deck with insanely beautiful views of the river, beach, ocean and Tshani point while watching dolphins and whales play. Freedom O Clock boasts a beautiful indigenous garden with loads of trees and nooks and crannies to explore. Find a tree to relax under and enjoy your book or a quiet afternoon nap.

*The roads are doable in a sedan vehicle. You do not need to have a 4x4. The last hour of your journey will be travelled on a gravel road. Conditions of roads change frequently, especially after heavy rains. The last 200m to our driveway is an off-road track and gets a bit muddy when it rains, but help is always near by.

*We rely on rainwater only. Please make sure to use water sparingly.

*We use solar powered batteries for lights and charging of electronic devices.

*Fridge, Freezers and Stoves run on gas.

*No crayfish out of season (1 November – 1 March)

*Do not throw sweets out your car window or just dish them out on the side of the road to the children shouting for sweets. It only encourages the local kids to beg plus there are no dentists in the rural areas.

*Please try and limit your refuse and use of non-refundable bottles.

*We suggest you bring along your own firewood / charcoal, as wood sold locally are mostly indigenous trees from the forest.

*Charging of cellphones, cameras, tablets etc charged at R10 per hour. Speak to Lu or Otto ONLY! Proceeds go to our local school Mngcibe Junior.

*We have 3 friendly big dogs. If you have dogs, please make sure they are kept under control. You will be held responsible and liable should your dog hunt / kill livestock. Unfortunately we won’t be able to assist or get you out of this one.

*If you would like to assist the community in some way, you can bring along old clothes, toys, soccer balls, dog food, fishing gear and tools or anything else you might think the local residents could benefit from.... even fancy sweet wrappers are used in the decoration of their woven grass mats

The house place is a few blocks away from Downtown, and all restaurants, bars and shops! We are also a mere 100 steps from main beach (across the street) which is a long perfect sandy white beach for swimming, fishing and surfing. Very family-friendly. You’ll love my place because of the location, the people, the ambiance, and the outdoors space. We do have 3 dogs and 2 cats so be prepared to have instant extra friends.
Unfortunately due to water crisis we are unable to do laundry.

You park safely in the garden and have your own private access to your room, where you can sit on the verandah as well.

The Den is a cute cottage filled with sunlight. It is wheelchair friendly. It had its own entrance and next to 2 other cottages we also rent out. 1 has an interleading door for a family rental. 2 single beds, ensuite, lounge and kitchenette area. It is situated in Summerstrand across the road from Pearson High school, the varsity is 1 km away. There is a beach and shopping centre nearby.
We have free parking on site, behind an elec gate. Fibre wifi and borehole water keep our guests happy.

The space is a room, ensuite, small lounge and kitchenette area. The area just in front is paved and easily accessible. We are 💯 wheelchair friendly. Everything is on one floor.
We are a huge corner house across the road from Pearson High School. Our Air bnb units are on the side of the main house. We have 4 Units that are next to each other. The Loft, The Den, The DIGS and The Cottage. Great for privacy and group bookings.
