Donner Lake's West End Beach is a two-minute walk away offering family beach play, swimming, and pickleball. Historic Downtown Truckee is 10-minutes away to access restaurants, boutique shopping, and town events and nightlife. Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, Donner Ski Ranch, and Donner Memorial State Park are less than 10-minute drive. Soda Spring Ski Area and Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Area are 15-minutes away. Palisades (formerly Squaw) and Northstar Ski Resorts are 20-minutes. Donner Memorial State Park is just down the road and offers a historical museum, hiking and snowshoe trails, and exceptional mountain biking. Legendary Lake Tahoe is a 25-minute drive!

There is no AC in most homes in Tahoe. To keep the property cool, open the windows and sliders at night to let cool air in, then close the windows, doors and blinds when you leave for the day.Please remember that living in the mountains and staying in a private home means that there are some things we cannot control. For example, weather and harsh conditions have knocked out Wifi and the power before. While these instances are rare, we please ask that you are patient as these are things that we unfortunately cannot control. While we will try to accommodate all requests, we handle refunds for situations like this (power outages, appliances breaking, etc.) on a case by case basis.

PLEASE NOTE: The Town of Truckee has implemented new short-term rental guidelines that limit the number of guests to 2 per bedroom. Since the cabin has three bedrooms, plus the sleeping loft, that limits the number of guests allowed. However, the ordinance does allow for the addition of 2 children aged 12 and younger, which brings the total number of guests allowed to 8.

Enjoy the views of beautiful Donner Lake and Schallenberger Ridge in the Central Sierra Nevada Range from our cozy cabin's large deck or front windows. Our cabin is located in the middle of snow country. Northstar, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Donner Ski Ranch, Sugar Bowl, Royal Gorge and Tahoe Donner are all within 15-20 minutes from our door. Ice fishing up the hill at Prosser Lake. Donner State Park, which is just a mile and a half from us at the end of the lake, has trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing.
As our cabin has direct access to the lake; in summer, fish or swim off the dock in front of us, enjoy the many water sports possible on the lake, or take a 20 minute ride over to North Tahoe to enjoy the 'big lake' on the mountain. There are 7 golf courses within 15-18 minute drive, historic Truckee and the Transcontinental Railroad to explore. Rock climbing, hiking, shopping, live music /concerts, mountain biking in the area, are all possibilities. Gambling/Casinos in Reno about 35 minutes up Interstate 80.
Our cabin is approximately 1400 square feet in size with space for two cars to park right by the back door. The main entrance to the cabin is from the back. As you enter, you have the kitchen on your right and a door into the main level bedroom and bathroom on your left. This bedroom has a queen bed and the bathroom has a tub/shower combination. Beyond the eating bar is the living area with an 8 foot dining table on one side and a couch and loveseat facing the fireplace on the other. Downstairs there are two bedrooms and a small bath. One bedroom has two twins and the other bedroom has a queen bed. From the downstairs hallway, you can go into another hallway that has a washer and dryer, a wood room that houses the wood for the fireplace and a door to the outside to take steps down to the road and lake. The loft is open to the main level and has 4 twin beds. Three of these beds are very close to each other (best for kids). There is another parking pad at lake level for one car.

Only suggestion is to anchor furniture and put child locks on window upstairs , it was hot and we couldn’t open it for safety reasons. This cabin is perfect for multiple families who want to have a great get-away together. It is not set up for large groups of adults. The two story chalet features four bedrooms and enough beds to sleep up to 10 people. The large deck also has a hot tub to help you relax at the end of your day. Tahoe Donner is a highly desirable, year-round mountain community located in the historic town of Truckee. The area is easily accessible from Highway 80, and just 35 miles from Reno and 100 miles from Sacramento. You can find excellent casual and fine dining as well as unique specialty shops in old town Truckee, which is just minutes away. Groceries, a hardware store, cafes, etc. are also just minutes away.

Tahoe Donner has one of the best ski resorts for young skiers and people just learning to ski. Within minutes are 10 other ski resorts including Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, and Northstar. If cross country skiing is your winter sport, Tahoe Donner has one of California's largest x-country ski parks, and was recently named the third best in the country. Numerous trails for snow shoeing and hills for sledding are located right in Tahoe Donner.

And when the snow melts, break out the golf clubs, mountain bikes, and river rafts. Miles of hiking trails, adventure parks, and miniature golf courses supply endless hours of fun for the whole family.

We are a no smoking cabin. If you are a smoker or plan to travel with smokers, this is not the property for you. . We do allow families that are looking to create special memories together. We do not allow pets due to previous experiences that resulted in damage to our property.

He stayed there until our son was released from the hospital and able to come home. Their kindness helped to alleviate much stress during a really difficult time. And we can never repay them for that."

As a child, I spent winters skiing and sledding in these mountains, and I fell in love with the crisp air and peaceful pine forests. Years later, my wife and I discovered Tahoe Donner while driving home from Reno — and instantly knew this was where we wanted to build family memories.

In 2004, we made that dream a reality and purchased this cabin we now call Baden’s Best. Over the years, we’ve poured our hearts into decorating and updating it to feel like home — adding the back deck and hot tub, upgrading furnishings, and creating a space where guests can relax, laugh, and make lasting memories.

☆ One lesson we've learned about the great outdoors is the frequent requirement to wipe down the deck furniture. Despite our efforts to maintain the utmost cleanliness for your convenience, it seems that nature is working against us. You may need to wipe down the outdoor table, chairs, and any other outdoor seating. The dust and pollen accumulates within a matter of hours.

- Owners will provide a starting amount of supplies (kitchen products, shampoo, etc.) and anything else you may need during your stay will be on your own.

- Rental rate includes deep cleaning at the end of guest's stay.
- Rental rate includes a $500 credit / 31 days for utilities. Guest will be invoiced/charged for each month's utility balance within the next month. Payment of utilities invoice will be due within 5 business days.
- Snow plowing of driveway is included in rental rate. Snow shoveling of walkways, entry, etc. are guest's responsibility and not covered in the rental rate. Snow shoveler recommendations can be provided to guest at the time of booking.

Are you ready for winter? The first snow has fallen and Tahoe Donner is the perfect place to enjoy everything that Tahoe has to offer! This wonderful Tahoe Donner cabin is perfect for families! Located on a quiet street just a few minutes from the Tahoe Donner ski hill and the world class cross country center. Our nearby rec center is open year round including a lap pool with heated deck and hot tubs. For dining and shopping you'll want to explore historical downtown Truckee. Tahoe Donner also has it's own fine dining at the Lodge restaurant.

The Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook family meals. Downstairs you'll find two bedrooms each with a queen bed. The updated kitchen along with the dining and living room offer a great space for families to hang out comfortably. There is also a full bathroom with bathtub/shower and washer/dryer. Upstairs is a huge loft with one king bed, three twin beds and a smart TV. There is also 2nd full bathroom with tub/shower.

High speed WIFI is available. There are two WIFI enabled smart TVs. One upstairs in the loft and one down in the living room. This is a great set up for families. Kids can watch movies or play games in the loft while parents have the lower level.

The property is located in the Tahoe Donner resort area and two guest passes are available for access to the recreation center, pools/hot tubs, and marina (guest fees apply). In winter guest passes give you discount to the Tahoe Donner Downhill and Cross Country centers. Each pass allows up to 4 guests access.

Tahoe Donner is perfectly situated near some of the best ski resorts in Tahoe! This includes North Star, Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Alpine), and Sugar Bowl. In the summer, it's only a 10 minute drive down to Donner Lake. There are also tons of running and biking trails right down the street, in addition to a beautiful golf course. Our house specifically is located on a flat lot with an attached garage, so accessing the property during the winter is very easy compared to other homes.

You are only a short drive (25-30 mins) to some of the world's best skiing, including Squaw Valley and Northstar. You are also close (10-15 mins) to downtown Truckee, a bustling little mountain town with some of the best restaurants and shopping Lake Tahoe has to offer.

Our two-story cabin is located on the 15th fairway in the amazing Tahoe Donner community of Truckee, California. You will love the mountain feel of the cabin and enjoy the warm fire while looking out at the wooded backyard and golf course.

The cabin has two bedrooms as well as a loft bedroom, two bathrooms, and great room. The queen beds are upstairs, one in the bedroom and one in the loft. The twin beds are in the downstairs bedroom. We also provide two fold-out floor mats. All linens are provided. Up to six adults and two children (under thirteen) may occupy the home, with a maximum of eight guests.

We have provided kitchen essentials needed to prepare meals during your stay.

Outside the great room, there is a deck that overlooks the forest and golf course, as well as a deck off the upstairs bedroom – perfect for enjoying coffee on a summer morning. During the warmer weather, take a nap in the hammock or enjoy a game of horseshoes.

New to Truckee? Friendly heads-up: it`s a local norm to avoid leaving food or fragrances in your vehicle, including pet food. If you`re familiar, just a quick reminder. We want your stay to be fantastic!

Important Note: While we hire pros for driveway clearing, there`s a slight chance you may need to shovel on arrival. Shovels are in the garage in case of any snow berms. For 2WD cars, consider bringing chains due to our sloped driveway.

Furthermore, as pets aren`t allowed on our property, there`s an excellent pet lodge only a 10-minute drive from here.

In line with Truckee town regulations, we kindly ask guests to keep noise levels down between 9:30pm and 7am. This ordinance aims to maintain a peaceful atmosphere for both residents and visitors alike. We ask all guests to respect this ordinance during their stay.

- "Our reservation was during the Blizzard of 2021, and I-80 was closed for 2 days of it. Crystal at Donner Lake Realty went over and above to keep us informed of when we could come, the situation at the cabin, and even getting us refunded for our missed days without us having to ask. Super cute neighborhood by the lake, pretty good pub food down the street, and roads were plowed each morning in time for us to head up to the mountain for skiing. The Buchell cozy cabin is 1 bedroom plus loft, 1 bath, sleeps 4. As you walk into this cabin, you enter into the living room with the kitchen on the right. This intimate living area has a wood burning fireplace and flat screen TV. The kitchen has all of your basic needs to cook for your family/group of 4. Off of the living area you will find a door to the bathroom with a shower stall only. The bedroom is located downstairs as well featuring a queen size bed. Upstairs you will find the loft perfect for the kids with two twin beds, a TV, and area to play. It is a summer short term vacation rental and a winter ski lease. Check in time is 3pm and check out time is 10am. **Nightly Minimum Subject to Change for Holidays** 4 night minimum for Thanksgiving, 7 night minimum for Christmas/New Year's, 3 night minimum for Martin Luther Holiday Weekend, 3 night minimum for Presidents Holiday Weekend, 7 night minimum over the 4th of July, 3 night minimum for Labor Day holiday Weekend.
