- "Kona Koa lodge was perfect! The location is peaceful and quiet. There are multiple units on the property but positioned perfectly so you rarely see each other. The units are very clean and look newly built. The bed was very comfortable and unit was beautifully decorated. The family who owns the lodge is so welcoming and helpful even meeting us at the airport with flowers. They provided free transport to and from the airport. We were brought fresh pineapple juice and sat on the porch with the owner upon arrival to setup our car rental and tour guides. Our unit was cleaned everyday with fresh flowers provided on the porch afterwards. They provided recommendations on restaurants and were available via WhatsApp at all times. The owners made us feel like family. It was the right balance of remote and resort that fits Rapa Nui. Added bonus was free drinking water jugs in the room (thankfully not individual water bottles) and electricity from solar panels. We would definitely stay here again!!"

Right next door there is a shop (which accepts cards and is open early/late) that has tons of fresh produce, frozen foods, drinks, snacks, fresh coffee, and bread, so you can easily pick up these items to use in the kitchen. Within walking distance are several restaurants, shops, the seashore, the main shopping area, and the sunset point at Ahu Tahai. You can go watch the sunset and it's about a 10-minute walk back from there. Check out the empanada spot just up the road - delicious large empanadas made to order from scratch. It felt very safe to walk around the area even after dark. Jasmin helped us with everything and was so kind and friendly. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it."

- "This was a clean, simple cabin which was very spacious for a family of four. There was a full kitchen that we could use. Breakfast, which was included with our stay, was delicious and varied from morning to morning. The cabin is also accessible to the town, even without a car. It's about a 20-30 minute walk. However, there are taxis that you can call or hail in the town. Driving back and forth is roughly 5000 Chilean pesos or 5 USD. Most importantly, the hostess was wonderful. She was very clear in explaining all of the amenities and gave us transfers to and from the airport. While taking us from the airport to the cabins, she gave us a brief and useful drive through fo the main town so that we knew where things are. "

It's about a 15 walk to the downtown area in a sort of isolated area, so I tried not walk home late (but taxis are easy). The owner was helpful but not friendly, if that makes sense. She picked me up from the airport and drove me through town, and even gave me a ride to the laundry to bring my clothes. But everytime I went to their (mostly locked) office she acted like I had just interrupted her family Christmas dinner. No heating/cooling and couldn't open windows because no screens and mosquitos would get in. Pleasant enough space, but I would stay closer into town (along the water) if possible in the future."
