One other minor issue, even though the area is up on a hill with a beautiful view, you can hear an ample amount of road noise from cars and trucks. Even with those minor issues, the place was one that I would highly recommend to future guests."

The Space
The Casita was built in 2014 to accommodate visiting family, friends and coaching clients. It is cozy, quiet and luxurious.

Imagine this - arriving at the property you come to a plateau of tropical plants. You will walk past the main house, the ocean to your left. Past the owners' private swimming pool and yoga deck, you will come to a tropical path that leads to the Casita. There you will see papaya trees, helaconias and ginger plants, flowering, colorful bushes and palm trees. The private outdoor patio with its hammocks gives way to amazing expansive views of the tropical foliage below and the ocean.

The private plunge pool at the Casita invites you to cool off 24/7 and enjoy the magnificent ocean views and starry nights in tropical splendor.

The undercover patio offers al fresco dining at a beautiful handmade table and chairs from local wood, and a fully equipped kitchenette. Wide sliding doors open the Casita bedroom with its large, comfy king bed, its small inbuilt desk, and at the far end the bathroom.

*The Property
The property comprises of 2 acres with the Casita set separately at the far end of the property. There are also the owners' residence with its private swimming pool, reserved for them or those staying at their home; a building with lodging for their private guests, and a nursery. The garden has an abundance of tropical foliage.

The entire property is fenced, and a remote-controlled locked gate at the bottom of the driveway offers added security. The structures are not visible from the road, hence very private and safe.

* Nearby
The Casita is located in Delicias, on a cliff above the small bohemian beach town of Montezuma. The immediate neighborhood offers various adventures - the canopy tour, Montezuma waterfall, the butterfly farm, and excellent restaurants are all within easy walking distance. The beach is just down a (steep) hill, and the town is about 1km from the property.

* Other Things to Note
The Casita is a vacation rental and not a full-service hotel with round-the-clock personnel. Guests are responsible for keeping the Casita clean during their stay, and for handling their own luggage. For stays of more than 6 nights, there will be a change of sheets and towels and a basic cleaning service at no extra cost halfway through the week. The private plunge pool at the Casita is cleaned every other day. A skimmer net is supplied so that guests can skim off anything that may have fallen into the pool inbetween pool service times.

The Casita is available for a minimum of 2 nights and a maximum of 14 nights.

LOCATION: You would fly into the Costa Rican international airport in either San Jose or Liberia. From there you have various options to get to Montezuma: from San Jose, a shuttle service costs approx $55 per person and takes approx 5.5 hours; for example with Interbus Online or Zuma Tours. A domestic flight to Cóbano with Costa Rica Green Airways or Sansa (20 minutes) followed by a 10-minute taxi ride to my Casita near Montezuma. Or, a rental car either from San Jose airport (for example with Enterprise), or from Cóbano (with Budget).

From Liberia the transfer takes approximately 3.5 hours by car. Shuttle transport is available with Tropical Tours Shuttle Services.

GROCERIES: There are two grocery stores in Montezuma. They stock pretty much everything one might need. Also, every Saturday there is an organic produce market in Montezuma.

MEDICAL: A medical emergency service is available in Montezuma. A hospital, pharmacies, doctors and dentists are available in the next biggest town Cóbano, about 10 minutes drive away.

'Ginger & Cacao" is perfect for individual vacations, family gatherings, small wedding parties and honeymoons.

The property has large open areas where each house has its own space and privacy, and each one is unique.

The cottage is build under huge trees and next to the pool, facing East for terrific ocean views, and to catch the ocean breeze. Large verandas make this place perfect to relax after a long day at the beach. French windows bring light, and the green of the surrounding jungle inside. Its white interior complemented by teak wood wall and art, truly reflect the owner’s ideas for beach comfort. The open floor layout allows for easy and comfortable indoor-outdoor living. The cottage has well defined rest area with queen size bed and a sofa, and kitchen - dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped, with dishwasher including. The dining area has dining table for 4.
The full bath and the walk-in closet are quite spacious. The cottage is air-conditioned. As an option, and for personal preferences, we have ceiling fans in each space of the cottage. Mosquito screens are installed on every window. Free WiFi and cable TV are included.

The cottage uses a shared parking below the pool area.

The property’s two villas Ginger and Cacao are located at the opposite side of the pool area. High ceilings, hardwood floors, massive wooden doors, and large decks complete the villas’ elegant furnishings.

Villa Cacao has fantastic ocean, and jungle views from all rooms. It has one master suit with en-suite full bath, with indoor and outdoor showers. The fully equipped kitchen has a bar that connects it with the large ocean view deck. The sitting area is beautifully furnished with two individual sofa beds that set for comfortable sleeping. This part of the villa has its own full bath.
The villa shares the parking bellow the cottage. A private path takes you to the beautiful pool area.

Villa Ginger is nested into the surrounding jungle with views of it from every single window and deck. The villa has two air conditioned bedrooms with queen size beds, one full bathroom with jungle views, fully equipped kitchen with dining area, porch and two decks. The large front deck has a comfortable sitting, and dining area under umbrellas. Ginger has its own parking space at the front. A minute walk on paved path will take you to the pool area.

The beautiful pool area, surrounded by jungle and landscaped gardens, includes a pool pavilion with swinging daybeds, and a leisure area with chaises and umbrellas. The pool area is the perfect spot to see large families of capuchin and howling monkeys raiding the treetops, and to observe the amazing toucans on nearby fruit trees.

The property is interesting to explore. It consists of authentic tropical jungle with bromelia gardens added around each house, and plants with lots of colors and fragrance. The numerous cacao trees and ginger plants inspired the name, “Ginger & Cacao”.

The property is maintained by caretakers. For your service and convenience, they reside in a separate cottage on the property grounds by the gate.

"Ginger & Cacao” is perfectly located at just short walk to Punta Uva Beach, one of the most striking in Costa Rica. A rare place still kept as natural as possible, with a minimum negative impact of over-development. Here is where the jungle meets the white sand beach with its emeralds waters and the almond trees to provide a natural shade. It’s not crowded and is safe for swimming, kayaking and snorkeling.

In Punta Uva one feels the complete connection with nature. There is nothing more beautiful than to get on a bicycle and go for an early morning ride to Gandoca- Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. At this time of the day, there is so much life and activity in the jungle. Howling monkeys call from the tree tops, butterflies and birds fly around searching for food.
Punta Uva is a very private area, removed from the traffic and congestion in areas closer to Puerto Viejo. There are a few excellent restaurants, and grocery stores. Within only a 10 min drive, if you choose, you can quickly get to Puerto Viejo.

At night, the action happens in Puerto Viejo. It might look a bit shabby, but give it some time and it will grow on you. At night, the somewhat sleepy village turns vibrant, full of life and music, with the smell of food coming from all directions. Ocean-front bars blast reggae and calypso. Shops stay open till late hours.

The place was clean and comfortable, it looked out on a reserve where we were immersed in the rainforest sights and sounds. Mario was on the beach to meet us as we arrived by boat from Sierpe and he made arrangements with a collectivo taxi to take us to Palmar Norte on our way out. I would recommend this lovely place for a couple or small family, as there is a third bed in the bedroom. And I would probably book 5 nights rather than three. There is so much to see and do here. Wished we had more time to walk the coastline trail to Playa Josecito. The only word of caution would be for those who are interested in snorkelling at Isola Cano. It was the attack of the jelly fish. Wetsuits are highly recommended if you want to avoid the stings."

- "Arriving from the mountains this was a great place to warm up. The beach was virtually ours and was wide, clean and wavy! Location really is superb. The communication throughout some problematic travel and plan changes was first class and understanding. I hate to think how long the hosts rep waited for us but he was there on a delayed arrival. The house is modern and very clean, backing directly onto the palm lined beach. Make sure you take condiments and cooking spices, but otherwise the kitchen is well equipped. You will see bugs during your stay — it’s simply part of life in the jungle. While we thoroughly clean and do our best to keep them out of the casita, they are part of the ecosystem and life here in the jungle. Please be sure you’re comfortable with this before booking.

Power outages happen occasionally in Costa Rica, usually about once a month and lasting 10 minutes to a few hours. If one occurs during your stay, we’ll keep you updated and do our best to make sure you’re comfortable.

One would find us in the tiny and graceful land: Costa Rica. We are at the tip of "Playa Manchas Azules" in the border of Montezuma and Delicias towns, where the sunrise softly awakes one skin when time comes to show. The South part of Nicoyan Peninsula embraces pristine beaches such us: Montezuma, Playa Grande, Cocalito, Cabuya, Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, Playa Hermosa, Manzanillo and more. All beaches with its own character and presence, some with calm and relaxing waters and others no matter what moon shines in the sky, they show their powerful will. Some even well know Internationally for surfing conquest. Delicias and Montezuma's town got bless by its aquifers and waterfalls formations decided to make their presence here, adorning the scenery and refreshing the visitors and the surroundings. According to some locals it could be around 70 waterfalls of all sizes, most of them hidden in the wilderness. We made a guideline booklet for our clientele of the Do's while in the area. They are plenty of activities to engage with. From a bioluminescence experience in Curu, to snorkeling in Tortuga Island, getting Yoga classes, paddle boarding, cycling, kayaking, fishing, diving, horse back riding, Spanish lessons, swimming, hiking, ATV riding, canopying, jumping into the waterfalls, exploring the rivers upstream, photographing, bird watching, fresh see food enjoyment. Our cliff nest has been sculptured with lots of love and patience over the years. First a recompilation of antics: wood, post, doors and windows for recycling purposes took place and then the Restoration of the pieces before taking the challenge to design were and how we wanted them to get alive again. We did all the details, icons and tile work one would find in Montezuma Heights and a well known Costa Rican artist Enrique Hidalgo shows his art imprint as well. If one visits us would get embrace by an outrages sunrises and taking a short cut in 30 minutes would get the ephemeral company of and stunning sunset in the other side of the Nicoyan Peninsula.

My place has fantastic views of the Golfo Dulce where you can find dolphins, humpback whales and sea turtles. You’ll love this simple open structure because of the feeling of being alone in nature with many fruits to pick at from the surrounding forest while watching wildlife pass by like monkeys, parrots and toucans. My place is great for couples and solo travelers with a good level of fitness.

The space
This simple open air hut structure with roof is located in a 21 hectare private wildlife refuge. The experience of this nature living is an amazing opportunity to spend time in one of the most bio diverse areas of this planet.

There are 3 trails on the property which our guests have full access to. The principal trail leads up hill to the main entrance from the tiny village Playa Cacao, which takes 20-30 minutes to walk. One other trail leads to a small secluded swimmable beach, and the last to an area of the refuge which is pure primary forest.

Other things to note
You will be in the jungle so expect insects, bats, geckos, maybe snakes. Mosquito nets are supplied for the beds but if you have a phobia of these animals then you may prefer staying somewhere more closed and less remote. The cold water shower is located less than 1 meter outside the house. There is no electricity at this property nor hot water. For charging electronics you may ask at one of the restaurants in Playa Cacao if ordering a drink or food. The water is drinkable and very yummy! NO CANDLES ALLOWED IN THE CABIN.We provide battery run false candles. Please bring AA batteries incase they run out.

We are constructing a little bungalow for ourselves on the lot behind the container. The construction crew is a really great group of guys, super respectful, pretty quiet, and honest. They plan to start work most days around 8am and be wrapping up in the late afternoon. If that puts a damper on your plans, we invite you to book with us later in the season when you'll be able to enjoy a bit more tranquility on the workdays :)

Our tiny, locally run surf shop (Bodega Surf Supply) is located just out front where you can arrange rentals, lessons, and get info on where and when to surf in town.

Our wavefront location in Punta Banco serves as a meetup point for surf lessons with local instructors, supplies hard-to-find surf essentials, and provides comfy digs for discerning wave hounds. It is also home to Urchin Surfboards - which are shaped right out back in our garden workshop.

Pat & Christie are two Floridian lovebirds who quickly flew the coop to Costa Rica as soon as they finished school. We’ve been living happily in Punta Banco for 15 years.

Wilmer and Becky, both born and raised in PB, and are as pura vida as they come. On any given day they surf, fish, teach, shoot photos, guide, and hustle around Pavones, all while keeping an incredible home and raising a beautiful family.
