Only 4 rows of homes between you and the beach! A short walk to the beach boardwalk located only a football field and a half away, (150 yards), at the end of 8th Street! Enjoy the lush & knarled coastal oaks on our 2nd floor covered porch or screened porch! When we have 10-15 knot winds from the south you'll enjoy listening to the ocean waves. Complete privacy from neighbors!

Our fully stocked kitchen offers stylish quartz solid-surface counters, under mount sink and white bead board cabinets!

The kitchen, dining, and comfortable living areas are all open to each other and overlook the deck & island vegetation.

Each room in the house is a fun coastal color! You're at the beach on an island and on vacation! Bead board ceilings too for that cottage feel! Two bedrooms and one bath are upstairs along with one bedroom and one bath conveniently located downstairs on the ground floor with a separate entrance. Perfect for two couples wanting a bit of privacy or adult children! There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer located downstairs too!

You have a extra large private hot/cold outdoor shower, park style charcoal grill and a large swivel charcoal grill, along with a fish cleaning sink & table located downstairs. The property entry at the street offers a 16' wide gate and a fully fenced yard! Yes, we love your 4-legged children and are pet friendly! You'll love the securely fenced & gated property for your dogs!

A short walk away is Regatta Park! This is a bay front park that offers parking, covered picnic tables, park style grills, a white sandy beach nestled on a cove, and a kayak launch site!

If you bring your dog, unlike most vacation rental homes, we DO NOT charge you extra for your 4-legged children, and we DO NOT charge you a pet security deposit. IN EXCHANGE, we simply ask that they'd be well behaved & trained, supervised at all times, current on flea/tick meds, non-scratchers on doors/windows/furniture, to keep them off the new Lovesac couch, (or bring blankets for the couch), & off beds, keep off the fence, avoid digging in the yard and that you'd pick up after them in the yard & tidy up. Due to the fact that your pet is not familiar with his/her surroundings at the house, PLEASE bring a kennel in case you plan to leave him/her alone so that your dog does not scratch our doors, door frame and sliding glass doors.

*We cater to family groups and cannot accept reservations for vacationing students or house parties. We do not rent to students or to groups under 25, even if one or more parents or legally responsible adults accompany them.

In the event that you need to cancel, we provide a full refund 60 days or more prior to arrival. Within 60 days there is no refund. Trip cancellation/interruption insurance is strongly recommended because you never know what unexpected life event or weather event can occur.

Up to a $300 damage option will be automatically charged to your credit card within 14 days of check out if any damage occurs.

Downstairs next to pool. Very Private romantic Studio apt with King bed, private bath, full modern kitchen, laundry... all amenities. Recliner loveseat sofa for viewing the large flat screen TV.
Tastefully decorated. Perfect for a Couple’s getaway . We do not allow more than two people in this studio cottage. Ample parking for a small Boat and trailer. There is a fish cleaning station on the side of the building and a great outdoor area in front of the studio for early morning coffee and afternoon lounging. We made friends with the people in both other units which made the week even that much better. This was the first vacation for our lab mix who loved the beach and the ocean. This is a very nice downstairs cottage facing the beach. Great screened Porch facing the water. Walk across the beach access path just twenty yards from the driveway to fish or sunbathe at the prettiest beaches in the state! Rinse off in our pool just outside the kitchen door. Perfect for one or two couples or a small family. Pets considered, so please call before booking. We do charge a Pet fee for acceptable dogs.
FOUR PERSON MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY, no exceptions. Trout is certainly a bargain and a favorite of many couples who return again and again. Brand new bathroom 2020 as well as new porch and living room furniture as well.

- "The location was perfect across the street from the water. The unit was clean, as were all the linens and housewares. The screened in porch was perfect for our two small dogs to come into and be wiped off. The neighborhood was quiet. The rooms were spacious. The pool and pool area was clean. The only concern was you could hear and feel the people walking around in the second floor apartment. But not complaining just observing. They were great people. Enjoyed our time there and would recommend to anyone."

This low key retreat is a traditional old school 3-bedroom cottage w/direct access & stellar views of the Gulf. It was built in the 70's & is available for rent at a very affordable rate. St. George has been voted The #1 beach in the USA several times over the last few years!!

LOCATION, LOCATION! We’re ideally situated - directly across from the Gulf w/easy access to the beach.Near the center of the island (309 W. Gorrie Drive). There is little traffic in front of the house (more bicycles & golf carts pass by than cars).We love the ability to walk/bike back after an evening at The Blue Parrot or Paddy's (Harry A's is 4 blocks away. Weber's donuts is a block away).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This is an older property; a 'lived in, traditional, Florida beach house'. THEREFORE, we are pleased to be able to offer The Whale as a fun/enjoyable option for your family vacation at a reasonable price! This cottage is NOT a fancy, new or pristine 'beach house’ or luxury resort (although it's safe and obviously structurally sound. Some guests have expressed the following as ‘negatives’: The spiral staircase to the loft is tight, some finding it difficult to climb. The furniture, appliances etc are not new (although everything is comfortable, clean and works well), not all the windows open (although at least one fully functional window, with screen, is available in every bedroom). If you put a marble on the floor, it would probably roll. Although our housekeeper is fantastic and everything is clean, you could probably find some things that weren't perfect. The surrounding grounds are natural... NO fancy landscaping,

The beds however, ARE all TOP QUALITY and very comfortable (less than 3 years old). Please feel free to reach out in advance so that we can fully describe The Whale. We try to manage expectations and want to make sure there are no misunderstandings and that you're happy when you arrive.

ON THE UPSIDE: The '70's interior has been upgraded and refreshed (after minor damage from Hurricane Michael). It's now much more contemporary. Please read our reviews, they provide a good objective perspective of our place (also see our pictures and video).

AWESOME DECK FACING THE GULF: The front deck is spacious. There is plenty of outside furniture (hammock, table, umbrella chairs and reclining lounge chairs).

The 4 person hot-tub is the highlight (2-speed jets, bubbles and temp up to 104)!

FUN TIMES: Super entertainment system (powered speakers inside w/sub & separate sound system on front deck). Bluetooth receiver.Flat screen TV w/HD Dish Network satellite (including Sirus/XM radio). ROKU streaming box with Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Max, Apple TV & more. There is also an auxiliary HDMI input cord if you would like to bring your own Fire or ROKU stick.

DVD/CD player on hand that connects to in & outdoor speakers.

High speed 5G Wi-Fi provided to power many devices. A collection of games, books and DVDs are on hand.

BEACH: There are also normally several beach chairs, boogie/skim boards, beach umbrella, beach canopy & kids toys (although what's available is not guaranteed and varies).There's even a 'Gorilla Cart' to transport everything to the beach!Our personal bikes are in the carport. They're a bit old, but work great and you're welcome to use them.

KITCHEN: No luxurious granite countertops or Wolf range, but the kitchen Is maxed out (we love to cook)! Dishes, cookware and an extensive selection/variety of utensils are available. K-Cup coffee maker (along with standard filter/drip coffee maker), ice maker in fridge + Frigidaire counter top ice maker, top of the line KitchenAid blender (for perfect margaritas), 4 slice 'extra wide' slot toaster, microwave, dishwasher, glass top stove & more.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS: The home sleeps 6 comfortably (maximum occupancy) with 3 bedrooms (upstairs loft with Casper memory foam king pedestal bed and sitting area, primary BR with Serta Signature queen & 3rd BR has Linenspa twin beds for kids/teens). All mattresses are less than 3 years old! All linens are provided (w/extra pillows & blankets). There are fans in all rooms.

BATHROOMS: There is a full bathroom with a large walk-in tile shower on the main level. A half bath is in the loft & outdoor 'open-air' shower on the side of the cottage (with a soap/shampoo/conditioner dispenser).

NEED MORE SPACE: Add the “Wreck Room” below.... our optional expansion on the ground level. There’s a lounge area with an L shape sofa, smart TV (with all our streaming services activated). A bar, small kitchenette area & additional full tile bathroom.This would be good for teens who want to stay up later (watching movies/playing games), or for a guest to nap or relax during the day. It's nothing fancy, but does provide extra space and privacy (and the extra bathroom)!

Please note: This is a separate space... It's NOT connected internally to the the main house above and is accessed from the carport below only.Although we've slept many nights on the sofas downstairs (twin bed size), it wouldn't 'technically qualify' as an additional bedroom (or increase occupancy). Contact us if you’d like to add this space to your reservation ($300 for the week). The Wreck Room is NOT rented separately from the main cottage. (It can only be added by the guests renting the cottage above).

WELL STOCKED W/THE BASICS: Dishwasher/laundry detergent, bathroom tissue, paper towels, garbage can liners, hand soap, shampoo, cleaning supplies, coffee filters, herbs/spices/basic staples... You would normally have to purchase these at other rentals, but we are happy to share/provide them for you (while they last).

HVAC: We've just installed a brand new TRANE central AC/heat system (April 2023). There are also individual wall mounted AC units in each bedroom for personal climate control. The cottage stays quite CHILL !! :-)

PETS: The home & island/beach are 'pet friendly' (pets require a non-refundable $120 pet fee). Maximum 2 pets. It's HIGHLY recommended that dogs be kept in a kennel/crate if left unattended in the house. We respectfully ask that pets are kept off the furniture (especially beds) and that you clean pet hair when you leave (lint rollers are under sink).

IF YOU'RE BRINGING A PET YOU MUST 'CHECK THE PET BOX' ON VRBO WHEN MAKING YOUR RESERVATION (VERY IMPORTANT).
(undisclosed pets would violate your rental agreement).

NO EXTRA FEES: There are no cleaning/service/extra fees except those assessed by VRBO. All bookings & payments MUST be done through VRBO.Per Florida law... We are not legally able to rent directly.This home is owner managed (not by a rental company).

HOUSEKEEPING: Although our maid in Eastpoint comes over between reservations to change the sheets/towels, clean the bathrooms, vacuum/mop, wipe surfaces, etc. to make sure the house is ready; we do ask that guests make every effort to leave the cottage in good condition when you depart (see rental agreement). We can send our housekeeper over, at no charge if upon arrival you discover anything unsatisfactory (which you should report to us immediately).

RENTAL OPTIONS: This cottage is available for WEEK LONG STAYS (5 day bookings are sometimes possible). Month long stays are available 'off season' (with a discount).We personally use the house a lot, but do enjoy sharing our place.The rates are also NOT NEGOTIABLE (please do not 'make us an offer').Download & read the rental agreement; Guests will be obliged to all terms. If there is anything that you do not understand or if you have any questions, please contact us.A week prior to your arrival VRBO will send you instructions on how to access the house plus additional details that you'll need during your stay (we will also reach out by phone).

Siesta Key offers an affordable St. George Island vacation experience. Enjoy relaxing in the 2nd home to be built on St. George Island. Siesta Key is a true Florida cottage built in the 50's the home offers the comfort that can only be found in a quiet beach cottage.

Siesta Key is a short walk from the sandy beaches of St George Island and a stone's throw from the lighthouse and Blue Parrot restaurant. With easy access to the town and the water, there is always plenty to do while staying at Siesta Key. If you are in the market for something fancy this is not for you. Siesta Key is a great place to kick back, do some fishing-beaching and enjoy the simpler things in life.

The home has 3 bedrooms- 1 king, 1 queen and 2 twins. In the living room enjoy the sofa and flat-screen TV. Enjoy a warm cup of coffee in the comfortable kitchen or take it on the rooftop patio while watching the waves.

In the evening enjoy the deck off the front of the house and grill the catch of the day.

- "We had a wonderful week at Key West!! Walk to the beach was so easy and the pool was great to have. House was well stocked and our family enjoyed the screened in porch. There were even floats and beach toys there. Siesta Key offered all of that and a little more! It’s a quaint and comfy cottage that had the guests in our party feeling like they were on vacation the moment they stepped inside. We really enjoyed just how close everything was— the restaurants, the lighthouse, the stores and most importantly the beach! The pool was clean and perfect for when you wanted to cool off after a day sat the beach. The kitchen was nicely stocked, bedrooms were comfy, we even walked up onto the observation deck to try and catch a sunset. The only issue we ran into was the toaster over door coming off of a hinge on day four, BUT we quickly told management and they came by that very same day and brought us a toaster for the rest of our trip! :) By the end of our trip, everyone was feeling nice and relaxed and even hesitated on wanting to leave. We don’t come to SGI often, but it has quickly become one of our favorite vacation spots and we will keep this property in mind for the next time we visit! We and our entire party had a great time! :)"

For the children, a bunk area off the hallway is also available. Additional space is located on the ground floor with queen bedroom, bath and living area with wonderful views of Lily Pad Cove.

Since the owner is constantly creating and collecting new pieces if an art piece interest you with a tag on it, please let us know as it is for sale.

For added fun, take on the scavenger hunt for little frogs and sea creatures scattered around the home and try to find the magic palm tree. Hint: it can only be seen at night. The community is fabulous; all the stores, restaurants you need but no huge development. Beach Bum Cottages were small but comfortable and well-equipped. The beach was across the street for swimming, walking and star gazing. The pool was heaven. A great value! Property manager, Laura, was always available and helpful!"
