At the end of Raphael Semmes on the Gulf Side of the Island there is a public walkover that allows convenient access to the beach. There are beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico and Mississippi Sound from several rooms and the large deck and screened porch.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a view of the water. There is ample seating including a large bar and dining table. The master bedroom has a Queen bed with a private bath with views of the Gulf and the lagoon. The second bedroom has a double bed and access to the second bath. Experience Dauphin Island the way it’s been experienced for a century. This updated 2 bedroom, 1 bath shotgun built in 1916 is in the center of Dauphin Island Village, less than a block from biking trails and a short walk to the Indian Mound, Goat Tree and Green Parks. Sleeps 6: king, double & sofa pull out.

A Central Location: The Whale House is really in the center of 'town'. I use quotation marks because there are only about 1,100 full-time residents and the entire Island is only 14 miles long. You're able to walk to most activities and bicycle riding gets you to the places that walking doesn't. Three of the island's 4 restaurants are within walking distance...not including the Bakery, behind the cottage. The beaches are accessible via bicycle, short car ride, or the town's public transportation (two minivans).

Things We Love About the Island: There is a large bird sanctuary that provides excellent walking paths - you'll see beach, forest and swamp on the walk. We love to go there. There is also a small forested bird watching area that we like to walk through as well (an old Indian mound). The Estuarium is great. They often have fun classes as well as a great tour through their fish/sea life exhibits.

Also 2 rolls of toilet paper and one roll of paper towels were plenty to get us started and finish our stay! Again we brought our own as we are adults and understand how a rental property works. You can't beat the price for this unit. Sitting on the porch every morning drinking coffee and watching the sunrise was just what we needed. Unbelievably quiet the entire stay. The fishing was great. We did have one major issue, the AC was not working. Figured this out within 15 minutes of arrival. John was contacted and was at the property in less than an hour with with 2 window AC units. Window units were more than enough to keep the place cool our entire stay. John is a very responsible owner and quick to resolve what was a major issue."

The village center location affords an easy walk or bike ride to Shell Mound Park, the Goat Trees, beaches, parks, bakery and restaurants. Nestled beneath heritage oak trees, serenity abounds in quiet spaces throughout this vintage home.

A full kitchen adjoins a separate dining room. There are two living room areas with televisions. The larger has a second eating area with a wet bar and ice machine. One bedroom and full bath can be partitioned for privacy. In addition, the cottage has two more bedrooms, a pullout sofa, a second bathroom, and a half bath/laundry room. Outside, enjoy the screened front porch with wooden swing and wicker furniture. In back, the larger screened porch offers a teak table for outdoor dining and an additional conversation area. The newly expanded back deck provides a large space for outdoor activities, including an enclosed outdoor shower, picnic table and grill. A covered spacious stainless steel table and hot/cold water sink double as a wet bar or ample space to clean the day’s catch. On a rainy day, little ones can enjoy the large chalkboard and play area under the back porch.

The cottage has been newly furnished with luxury items and a fully stocked kitchen. The open floor plan allows guests to interact with each other while being in different parts of the cottage. Please do not allow your pet on the furniture or the beds.

You will be able to do a self check in with your own code generated just for your stay. There is ample parking in the driveway, however, The Town of Dauphin Island has limited the number of cars to 3. They strictly enforce this! Absolutely no loud motorcycles or vehicles. The Hummingbird House is located in the Trees on the East End of Dauphin Island. It is nestled amongst the pines and hard wood trees. The area is very peaceful and quite. Take a calming walk around the area, bike the quaint streets of the town, or take a scenic drive through Dauphin Island.

It's been a year and it's been a blast! Cozy get away for small family or couples. You can walk or ride a bike to a lot the Island has to offer. Launch your boat, kayak or canoe from the newly renovated launch within walking distance. Stores, Putt-putt, restaurants, seafood, fishing are all within walking distance as well. Or ride the bikes provided. Access to three public beaches. This house is not on the actual water. A lot of people ask. It is on a quiet street for peace of mind. The perfect place to stay and be close to the beaches and not have to pay the high prices. Full size appliances for the person who likes to cook. Gas Grill provided as well. Parking for up to six vehicles. 9'-6" clearance under house for taller boats. Fire pit in the rear.

The Neighborhood:
The 164-acre Audubon Bird Sanctuary is just a 15-minute walk from Knot Just Fishin on Forney Johnston. This sanctuary is a popular spot for birdwatchers, offering sightings of hundreds of species, including herons and pelicans. Visitors can take a walking tour through the palmetto palms to experience the island's lush native flora and fauna.

The Mobile Bay Ferry, located just around the corner from the bird sanctuary, is only a mile from Knot Just Fishin. The space
The whole three bedroom one and a half bath house, screened in porch and covered porch with plenty of patio furniture is all yours to enjoy! The house is very cozy and comfortable! The outdoor lights on the patio create great atmosphere ! Brand new smart TVs in the living room and master bedroom ! Full size washer and dryer with extra linens, beach towels, beach chairs and even a cooler. Fully stocked kitchen with plenty of dishes, pots and pans and baking pans, big griddle, two crock pots, blender and much more will meet all your cooking needs ! Books and games for rainy days are in the hall closet . Your Superhosts, Karin and John, have provided everything to make your stay great ! Pirates Beach, Bar and Grill, pizza place, public pool with restrooms and a snack bar, tennis courts and golf course are just right down the street!

The whole house, screened in covered patio and yard, is all yours to enjoy ! Very peaceful location ! Charcoal grill ! Also a few beach chairs plus baby pool! We have worked hard to think of and provide you with all you will need for a great stay ! You will love this house ! John and I have been Superhosts for over 10 years and make it our goal to make your stay great ! Plenty of outdoor seating also ! Firepit is in the back yard, feel free to move chairs out there! When we have a heavy rain the back yard gets pretty wet and the back yard may not be useable I’m so sorry in advance!’

Other things to note
Please don’t turn the AC down below 72 or you could freeze the unit up. We have a heat pump like most places in the south and it’s not meant to operate lower than 72. We have several fans that you are welcome to use. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog so we can make sure the $50 feet is applied. We have Comcast Xfinity for internet which is the best the Island has to offer and it works great! This house is in a great location ! Kids can ride bikes around the neighborhood and to A couple beach accesses if they are old enough with no supervision because there is little traffic! During heavy rains the back yard can be a bit wet and hold water for a couple days after a heavy rain because this house is on grade and not on stilts but there are no stairs to climb and there is plenty of outdoor space without needing the back yard . We have a welcome book with attractions and info about the area. Plus guidebooks of the area on the Airbnb website ! We cannot accept cats . You may not be able to use the firepit after a heavy rain for a day or so.

Sit back relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets and breathtaking views of Little Dauphin Island from the covered back porch. Kids love our place ! We now have corn hole and hangout area under house. Board games , and a pool table

March through May is the spring neo-tropical migration where birds from Central America migrate and rest on Dauphin Island. Our home is on the same street as the Shell Mound Park and Goat Tree Reserve. so walk from your home to bird watch .

This beautifully-decorated three bedroom, two bath home sleeps a maximum of six. It includes one king, one queen, and two twins.The open floor plan allows you to prepare your meals in the well equipped kitchen . There is a pool table and DVD’s for rainy days.

We have a video library for those rainy days also books for the avid reader. my mom loves to sit on the deck and read.The golf course is close by with beautiful ocean views. One of our favorite things to do is go to Skinners and pick up some fresh shrimp for dinner. You cant beat the freshness !!!

Bring your bikes its a short ride to the beautiful white sandy beaches.If you have never experienced the beauty of the gulf coast . now is the time. You can load up the car for a 2 minute drive to the pier and beach. We are one block from Bienville Blvd.Not far from the Ship and Shore(the local grocery/hardware store), Grab the flashlight stay until dusk and go crabbing.

Kids love the excitement of crab catching!!Our son spent hours catching crabs in the back yard !! He actually caught 20 blue crabs which we boiled and ate!! Come enjoy the quiet island living and great family fun.We are on a quiet street with lots of singing birds...

You can now rent kayaks delivered to the house and launch right from the backyard.

This historic cottage was built in 1950 on the earliest street on the island. It is fully remodeled with a large addition, screened porch and family friendly outdoor deck. The village center location affords an easy walk or bike ride to Shell Mound Park, the Goat Trees, beaches, parks, bakery and restaurants. Nestled beneath heritage oak trees, serenity abounds in quiet spaces throughout this vintage home.

The space
A full kitchen adjoins a separate dining room. There are two living room areas with televisions. The larger has a second eating area with a wet bar and ice machine. One bedroom and full bath can be partitioned for privacy. In addition, the cottage has two more bedrooms, a pullout sofa, a second bathroom, and a half bath/laundry room. Outside, enjoy the screened front porch with wooden swing and wicker furniture. In back, the larger screened porch offers a teak table for outdoor dining and an additional conversation area. The newly expanded back deck provides a large space for outdoor activities, including an enclosed outdoor shower, picnic table and grill. A covered spacious stainless steel table and hot/cold water sink double as a wet bar or ample space to clean the day’s catch. On a rainy day, little ones can enjoy the large chalkboard and play area under the back porch.

The space
Leave your car parked! You can walk or ride a bike to a lot the Island has to offer. Launch your boat, kayak or canoe from the newly renovated launch within walking distance. Stores, Putt-putt, restaurants, seafood, fishing are all within walking distance as well. Or ride the bikes provided. Access to three public beaches. This house is not on the actual water. A lot of people ask. It is on a quiet street for peace of mind. The perfect place to stay and be close to the beaches and not have to pay the high prices. Full size appliances for the person who likes to cook. Gas Grill provided as well. Parking for up to six vehicles. 9'-6" clearance under house for taller boats.
