This is a simple house with a semi-rural outlook. It does not have a sea view, but the closest beach is a 5 minute stroll away. The cottage has its own off-road parking and sits on over half an acre of landscaped grounds, approx 30m from the main residence. A great base for a short stay or extended holiday on the island.

The Settlers Hut has a wonderful historical past. It started life as an Army Hut, located at the aptly named Man O War bay during the last world war, where it housed Soldiers keeping NZ and Waiheke safe from invasion.They were very small modest huts, only 9m long in fact, and 2.5m wide. In this day and age, you would call it a Tiny House.

After the war ended, people were very poor, and many did not have enough money to build homes. Many of these tiny huts were relocated all over the island to form homes for many of the early settlers on Waiheke Island.

When Robyn first saw the little hut, nestled into the hillside overlooking a beautiful seascape, she fell in love. It was just so cute, but it was so derelict. Initially, Robyn says I decided the only thing for it was to demolish it, and build a lovely new home on the beautiful site overlooking the sea. But somehow or other, it seemed such a shame to pull such a slice of history down. I never quite pulled the new plans together, and one day, I just thought.the little Army Hut is so full of history, and it wants to stay put, and be lovingly restored something thats my passion and what I love to do in life. Some people rescue people, some people rescue animals, some people rescue cars.my passion is rescuing houses, and bringing them back to life, and having people fill them to enjoy blissful, happy times.

I call it my `playhouse for grown ups as it reminds me of the hours I used to spend in my playhouse as a child. All those cups of tea that I served to my teddies! Memories are fun to look back on, but my motto is to keep making them, to my dying day.

This Hut is an old fashioned holiday. I have created this little tiny house as a getaway for a couple, two couples, or a couple with children, to enjoy a holiday or a weekend that will make the best of memories.

It has a large covered deck, and this space is very much the living room. It has comfy outdoor seating, and a bbq on the deck, and that deck is designed for pure relaxation. I have put packs of cards in there, board games, books hoping that you wont connect to wifi the whole time you were there imagine that, spending all weekend with your loved one or friends, taking walks to Oneroa, visiting the restaurants, and then on your lay day, playing cards and board games, sipping your favourite tipple on the deck, sharing stories cooking a simple meal on the bbq, and watching the sunset. But don¿t worry, its got ultrafast broadband, everybody is catered for Snuggle on the bed, watch a movie and chill to your hearts content its about getting away and doing exactly what you find relaxing.

It has two bedrooms, but only one is inside the hut. The other one is a sleepout on the deck. The sleepout has a little window with a seaview.

- "Visiting Waiheke island for the first time and was happy I chose to stay at this property. My children enjoyed running up and down the vineyard. Beautiful flowers surrounding the home, was nicely decorated, clean, comfortable and private. Only negative was that there was no oven to cook but used outdoor grill. The parking and driveway was a bit narrow and would avoid bringing a large vehicle. Also home backs up close to the road with occasional loud car sounds. When sleeping at night there was a lot of wind the night we stayed. The wind caused the bedroom window awning sun shade canopy to bang all night which kept myself and kids up. Otherwise a fantastic place."

The perfect holiday house - a cute cottage, which has been freshly renovated, peaceful and close to the beach, with great outdoor living. It is perfect for a small family or a romantic break.

Sunshine Cottage has open plan living, kitchen & dining areas, which open onto the large deck from the dining area, and onto the front balcony from the living area. The large deck has outdoor dining as well as a comfortable outdoor seating area. There is a further deck out the other side.

The first bedroom is by the entrance hall, and has a bathroom beside it. This bedroom is light & bright, but note that some windows do not have blinds. It opens onto teh main deck. The second bedroom is off the living area, it also has an ensuite & opens onto the front balcony.

Putiki Cottage is a private, self-contained studio which is semi-attached to our family home, Putiki Retreat (see listing for full setting photos - https://www.homeaway.co.nz/holiday-accommodation/p20032433?uni_id=4428378).

This is usually tenanted full-time but as our tenants have recently vacated, we are making it available to holiday-makers looking for somewhere unique, and truly ‘Waiheke’ to stay.

The cottage has it's own entrance with a sunny, north-facing deck. It is fully equipped with everything you will need for a city-escape including the bean-bags to lounge in and kayaks waiting by the waters edge at the end of the road.

Wifi and off-street parking for one car is also available.

A one-off fee of $65 is charged per booking for cleaning and linen (bedsheets, bath towels & tea towels). Beach towels are not provided.

Additional features (which can be arranged privately) are a full B&B service and organisation of speciality picnic hampers and/or shopping prior to arrival. Please enquire for rates.

Enchanted Valley is a gorgeous cottage plus cabana in the heart of Waiheke Island. Located in a peaceful valley section, the sound of the birds is your constant companion.

The property consists of two buildings which are always rented together, giving a combined two bedrooms, two bathrooms a full size kitchen, dining area and wonderful woodland section to explore.

The main dwelling is a beautifully renovated A-Frame cottage.

Upstairs you will find the bedroom with a comfortable queen bed and two built in single beds perfect for the kids. There is an upstairs sun-deck with French doors providing a wonderful cooling breeze in summer. During the colder months the heat from the downstairs woodburner keeps the whole house toasty and warm.

Downstairs is the main living area, with open plan kitchen diner. The kitchen is fully fitted with everything you need to cook up a storm, including full size oven and hob, dishwasher and fridge freezer. There are basic pantry items to get you started.

Downstairs you will also find the family bathroom, a newly renovated and luxuriously appointed bathroom with large shower, toilet and plenty of space to get changed.

The lounge area has comfy couches and smart TV connected to the internet, so watching the big came or relaxing with a movie is easy. There is high-speed WiFi throughout the property.

The downstairs area is also airconditioned allowing you to keep the perfect temperature throughout your stay.

If you want to feel even more relaxed, there is a lovely sun room downstairs complete with comfortable seating and even a hammock. There are a range of games and books to enjoy for family fun.

There is also a laundry area with washing machine, dryer and an area to hang clothes and do some ironing.

Outside the entrance is a firepit, which is safe to use during the winter months and gives you a great reason to stay outside and gaze at the stars.

A little further up the section you will find the cabana, a one-bedroom stand-alone unit, fully air-conditioned, with its own luxurious king sized bed, private en-suite bathroom, kitchenette and smart TV. This is great spot for a couple to stay and the bed can be split into two singles making it equally good for friends to share.

Please note that due to the nature of the A-Frame building, the staircase to the master bedroom is extremely steep and is used like a ladder. It is not recommended for anybody with mobility issues or for very young children.

Located in a prime location just across the beach access road at Onetangi you will find Onetangi Beach Cottage a secluded traditional Kiwi cottage set amongst pohutukawa trees. Just steps from the beach, the cottage is set in a large secluded garden with fruit trees , BBQ, and a large flat area for the kids to play in - the perfect set-up for a traditional family holiday experience!

Inside the house the traditional theme continues, but with added modern amenities such as WiFi and Sky TV. The open plan living is cosy and a great place to watch movies or enjoy reading a book.

Bedroom 1 is fitted with a queen bed and has direct access to the bathroom. Bedroom 2 has a single bed plus a singe bunk set and is accessed through the sun room which is fitted with a single bed. When required, a double sofa bed in the lounge is available.

Just a 2 minute walk to Three Seven Two and Charlies's, and just a flat 3 minute walk to the bus stop, so it is easy to get to the ferry at Matiatia, the supermarket, Oneroa, and the many vineyards. And of course Onetangi Beach is only a 30 second stroll away!

Beautiful fully renovated 1940s cottage, in central Surfdale. Light and airy, with original art deco features, a huge flat sun-drenched backyard and two sunny decks, new kitchen with modern amenities - new Meile induction stove, whiteware and american oak benches.

Heart-song cottage over-looks (on one side) an orchard owned by council so very private and thick with native birdsong. Perfect for sipping coffee in the morning and watching the sunrise.

Grab brunch from the french cafe across the road - well loved by locals - or make your own by getting supplies from the grocer a one min walk away.

An easy 5 min stroll to a lovely swimming beach and playground for the kids, or enjoyable 20 minute walk to Oneroa township (the central boutique and cafe area - or 2 minute drive).

A full library of books you are welcome to share. The owner is a popular holistic therapist and mystic so many books on body-mind, psychotherapy, sociology, philosphy, esoteric and mysticism. This cottage is cosy and perfect for a couple with space for a child.

There is a little cottage at the back of the property with a permant tenant, who is just lovely. He is well known on the island as a landscape gardner and will be avilable to help if you need it, but otherwise will keep to himself. His property faces away from this one.

She went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one - fantastic communication and generous beyond compare. Lucy’s home is a peaceful light-filled haven away from the hustle and bustle of Oneroa but close enough you can walk there in 15-20 mins along the esplanade/beach and over a gentle, undemanding hill. We loved exploring the area on foot and also walked to Mudbrick winery and Little Oneroa Beach. If walking isn’t for you, you can jump on one of the frequent local buses to get anywhere on the island - Palm Beach was a favourite of ours for swimming as unfortunately the Surfdale beach (easy 2 mins walk from Lucy’s) had a black algae outbreak so we couldn’t swim there (not a common occurrence we understand)! Lucy’s place is right across the road from a wonderful French cafe where we started our day with a coffee and delicious crepe or pastry. There are also two small supermarkets for picking up any groceries and a pub and restaurant (neither of which we went to so can’t comment on them). So many fabulous places to eat on the island it’s impossible to list them here! White Sands Cottage at Palm Beach is a beautifully presented and fully restored 1950s weatherboard bach located just 50 metres from the white sands of Palm Beach. With 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom this is a perfect family cottage and comfortably sleeps 4 guests.

The house was saved from demolition by the new owners who have lovingly restored the property over the past few years. The interior is tastefully decorated, clean and modern with sparkling tiled floors and new carpet in the bedrooms.

The exterior offers plenty of space to relax in the sun or escape to the shade with a covered area offering protection from the elements.

The large fenced garden wraps around the house offering a safe play area for young children. There is a concrete pad available for boat parking and off street parking for up to 2 cars.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking utensils, crockery, glass ware and cutlery required for family meal-time. There is a gas hob, full sized oven and dishwasher. In the laundry cupboard is a washer and dryer. Tea and coffee making facilities are also provided and our welcome pack includes a selection of luxury teas and coffees to get your started.

Outside is a large entertaining deck with a gorgeous lounge area and large dining table, perfect for Al Fresco meals both gas and charcoal BBQs are available, giving you all the options needed to cook up a storm.

The master bedroom has an adjoining covered deck perfect if you need some peace and quiet or to escape the sun. The room is spacious, with a luxurious king sized bed and a small desk area setup if you need to use your laptop.

The second bedroom is a good double sized room and has a split king bed which can be made up as a double or into two single beds offering additional flexibility for groups.

The bathroom is clean and modern with a large shower and plenty of space to get ready for a night out.

For groceries there is a superb little convenience store just a few minutes stroll along the beach as well as the lovely Arcadia restaurant and bar. Countdown supermarket and a selection of other specialty food shops, bars, cafes and restaurants are dotted around the island and are all just minutes away by car. The area is well served by the local bus service with the main Palm Beach bus stop just 100 metres away.

Palm Beach is one of the best swimming beaches in Auckland, with white sands, palm trees and crystal clear waters giving the area the feeling of a tropical resort. There is a fantastic childrens play area with climbing frames, swings and roundabouts. There are also two public BBQ areas available to use free of charge.

Welcome to our wonderful little vineyard and wake up to the sunrise over the vines. Aroha Karepe Cottage is set on a working vineyard looking to the north across the Hauraki Gulf to Coromandel, and over the established Syrah & Marsanne vines.
Sit quietly in the evening with a glass of wine watching the stars appear after you have enjoyed the many activities our beautiful island of Waiheke has to offer.

The space
The Main Bedroom as a queen bed with luxury bedding and furnishings and north facing bi-foliding doors looking across the vines. It’s a perfect location to spend a lazy morning in bed.

The Second Bedroom boast a queen size bed along with a king single in a nook with room divider. Please note, the room divider pulls across between the main bedroom and the second bedroom. It is lockable and noise proof. You can exit the main bedroom onto the small deck area and enter the house via the lounge room/dinning area when the divider is in use. You exit the second bedroom through the second bedroom door into the living room.

The Bathroom has a deep relaxing bath, separate shower and the bi-folding doors open to a deck.

The kitchen is well appointed, and has everything you need to make a simple or extravagant meal or platters for entertaining.

There is a relaxing entertaining/ lounge area with TV, WIFI, books and board games.

There is a dining area with table and bi-fold doors to the deck and expansive views.

The deck has an outdoor bistro table and chairs, BBQ and outdoor games for your use.

The five person spa is situated for privacy and to take in the views across the vines and enjoy a Waiheke wine under the stars.

Stroll the vines and explore the many secluded spots, enjoy a glass of wine whilst sitting among the beautiful native bush areas or the many areas with outstanding views.

Have a picnic in the vines and relax as you see the native bees, native birds and our extensive native bush in the hidden oasis.

Short walking distance to a bus stop and stroll down the hill to Oneroa or Palm Beach.

The Island is prone to power cuts in high winds and heavy rain, the cottage has an abundance of Candles, and also torches etc for your use in these circumstance, though we would ask that you are vigilant when using candles.
The cottage water is safe to drink it is rain water, the water to the spa is bore water and from time to time there is a yellow orange tinge to it when it has been topped up. It is the higher presence of iron. The spa is available all year round however from time to time maintenance issues may arise so we do not guarantee it’s use with your booking.

Get away from it all at this quiet, private haven off the beaten track. Watch the tuis in the Pohutukawa tree and take in panoramic sea views without leaving your duvet.
It's a good climb up from the road but the views make it worthwhile. It’s a 10 minute walk down to Rocky Bay beach and Whakanewha forest reserve is right on the doorstep. Buses go to Rocky Bay but a car is recommended for further island excursions

Built in 2004, this airy bach is intentionally pared back (no tv, wifi) to the comfortable basics to make the most of the surroundings. Quiet neighbours on one side, a hillside reserve on the other.
There’s a gravel driveway at the bottom of the section to park a car. About 70 steps up the path to cottage.

The spectacular view has a price: it’s a steep climb up the hill - around 60 stairs. A reasonable fitness is required - or will be acquired after a week! Parking is at bottom of section and the gravel drive way is also steep. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

Perfectly located in a genuine Little Oneroa position less than 5 minutes walk to gorgeous Little Oneroa Beach (approx 350 metres away) with its beautiful white sands, a playground for the kids and a conveniently located dairy. Little O Bach is all about comfort, relaxation and feeling at home with all of the conveniences of a great location with lots of sun, big covered decks for entertaining and of course a wonderful view. The ideal couples retreat or family get away!

This is a free standing two bedroom home set on a quarter acre section with a good flat lawn area and huge wrap around decks. The rear deck is fully enclosed and safe and secure for children, it also has wind down blinds and is covered so is suitable for outdoor entertaining in any weather conditions. Our great location allows for easy access to vineyards, fantastic restaurants, beaches (Oneroa beach - 10mins walk and little Oneroa beach - 5mins walk), shops and bush walks.

We are a 5 minute taxi ride away from the ferry terminal or you could catch the bus (10mins journey) to the bus stop, which is located 100m away from the cottage.

This cute 1940's Waiheke cottage has two bedrooms, both have Queen sized beds.

French doors from the lounge open onto a deck area that looks out into a garden with native trees and native birds including Piwakawaka, Keru, Kotare and Tui's.

The Cottage at Weka is a self contained original home. It is set to the back of a gently sloping 1/4 acre section complete with fruit trees and lilly pond. There is ample off-road parking for you and your guests. Constructed in 1945, the bungalow style cottage has native wood floors and is furnished in a simple but stylish fashion with quality chattels and appliances. Although the cottage itself is compact, an attached large and airy conservatory and generous decking means plenty of choice for where to lounge, eat and play.

Guests have exclusive access use to the whole property other than a locked store room which we use to keep spare linen and cleaning supplies. The garden herbs, fruit and vegetables (in season) are all available for our guests to use.

Here, you’ll find an array of fantastic wineries and breweries, including Wild Estate, Stonyridge Vineyard, Soho Vineyards, Te Motu, Tantalus Estate, and Alibi Brewery. Bach Vineyard is also in the neighbourhood. Wine lovers, rejoice!

When you’re ready to hit the beach, you’re spoilt for choice: Onetangi Beach is just a 10-minute drive away, while Palm Beach is only 12 minutes by car. Both offer pristine white sand and are perfect for a full day of swimming and relaxation.

The Cottage:

Rocky Cottage is a charming, light-filled home featuring two double bedrooms. The layout has been cleverly designed to soak up the morning and afternoon sun, with a good sized deck running the length of the house.

The bedrooms and living area all open onto the sunny deck, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Enjoy the tranquility of the surrounding native garden, where you might spot Tui, Kaka, Kereru, Piwakawaka, and other beautiful native birds.

• Main Bedroom: Drift off to sleep in a luxurious queen-size bed with an organic latex mattress to keep you cool. It’s perfect for lounging and reading by the large picture window, which offers serene views of the private valley. Sleep with the blinds open to wake up to the sunrise through the trees and the gentle calls of Ruru (native owls). Clothing storage (hanging and drawers) is available in the walk-in wardrobe.

• Second Bedroom: This flexible light filled space can be set up with a single bed or converted into a superking-sized bed, depending on your needs. It also features a workspace if you need to catch up on emails, or enjoy a yoga/workout session with the help of the large wall mirrors.

Each bedroom has a bedside fan to keep you cool if needed.

Living & Dining:

Lounge area is small with an extremely comfy sofa, with an Apple TV you can easily log into to access your preferred channels. There is a UE Boom you can connect to for music and the dining area seats six comfortably.

Bathroom & Kitchen:

The stylish bathroom is equipped with a spacious walk-in shower, offering both a luxurious rain shower and a standard showerhead. Fluffy towels, heated floors, and Aesop and Ecostore toiletries and hairdryer are all provided for your comfort.

In the fully equipped modern kitchen, you’ll find modern flatware, vintage silver cutlery, a full oven, induction cooktop, and dishwasher. There's a chilled water dispenser, ice maker, and SodaStream for your sparkling water needs. While there’s no microwave, we do provide a NutriBullet and an Aeroccino milk frother for your perfect morning French Press coffee!

Things to Do:

• Enjoy nearby nature walks and secluded bays, perfect for a peaceful wander or a more energetic hike through Whakanewha Regional Park.

• Wander down through the Nikau Palm reserve (a short 10-15 minute walk) to the local weekend pop-up cafe in Rocky Bay Hall or relax on the tidal beaches of Rocky Bay. While these beaches are more pebble and shell than sand, they’re still a lovely spot for swimming and lounging. Check the tides though as low tide is no good for swimming.

• If you’re after more activity there is a local Pickle Ball court in the Bay and the nearby Onetangi Sports Park has tennis courts, sports fields, golf, and disc golf.

Parking & Transport:

There is carport for one car, with a short, but steep driveway so in case that proves tricky, there is additionally one street parking space available.

We highly recommend bringing or hiring a car to explore everything the island has to offer. While public transport is available (15 minutes walk downhill or uphill), the hilly, unlit roads aren’t ideal for walking at night, or carrying luggage.

Please note:

The cottage’s native bush setting offers lovely views and fantastic bird-watching opportunities, but it also means the bugs come out at night. We suggest applying insect repellent or moving inside as the sun sets.

Rocky Cottage is in a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood. While it is a private location the immediate house next door is quite close, but are usually quiet, hardly there neighbours.

Rocky Bay/Ōmiha is a large valley and has spotty cellular coverage. Rocky Cottage has very limited coverage and you will be relying on WIFI for connection. You will need to set your phones on Wifi Enabled Calling. There is a landline at Rocky Cottage if you need it.

Small dogs are welcome if fully house trained, noting that the property is not fenced and there is no outside area able to be enclosed.

Rocky Cottage is not suitable for small children due to the open decking, and there is also an unfenced creek at the bottom of the adjoining property.

You’re close to everything at this centrally located place. Equipped with sauna, ice bath and spa pool (while watching the rising sun), it really is a health retreat. Stunning views of Oneroa Beach/Great Barrier to the north and Surfdale/Maraetai to the south, you’re ideally perched up to take it all in. A short stroll to the beach/village. The space
2 bedrooms inside the house and a sleep out. Master bedroom and sleep out have their own en suite bathroom. Hot tub, sauna, ice bath, seating area and a BBQ on the deck make for a great outdoor hang out. Large, fully fenced grassed area perfect for dogs to roam.

Our little cottage by the sea is a peaceful escape from the usual speed of life. Glance back at the busy Auckland lights from the deck, or wander down to enjoy the sea. The cottage is newly renovated with all the modern amenities but still has the charm of an kiwi holiday home by the sea. It sleeps 5 people in 3 bedrooms. Oneroa township is a 10 min walk away. Popular vineyards Mudbrick and Cable Bay a $10 taxi fare.

The space
This is a 3 bedroom house however the 3rd bedroom is a small single and is approx 7ft x 6ft and is more suited to a child. We have had adults stay comfortably in this room but as noted it is small

This is our personal holiday home so our car will probably be parked in the drive, and some of our stuff will be in the house. If you are expecting a place set up solely for AirBNB this is not that place for you. If you want to feel like you are staying with friends then you should be fine here 😬

Guest access
The garage is locked because it contains our family stuff. Access to this is not available generally

Other things to note
There is a Maori burial ground between the house and the beach, please respect the cultural significance of this space and the spiritual significance to the local Maori and do not under any circumstances go into the cemetery or use the cemetery as any sort of thoroughfare.

Water is very limited on the island, so please take short showers, or better yet, share the shower with a friend :) Only flush the toilet when you have to, and don't run the dishwasher if it's only half full.
