- "Great stay, thank you so much!" - "Thank you, great experience!" - "The hotel is a located inside a converted house. Everything looks very traditional, complete with low ceilings, sliding doors, mat covered floors and futons. The dorm slept four, which I though was tight, but it seems to work well enough that I slept quite well both nights. My futon had two layers and although I like a firm mattress, I did think it was quite sore on my back the 1st night. Common areas include the kitchen, cafe and lounge. The sink, shower room and toilet were separate and I never had to wait to use any of those. Most importantly, the shower and toilet were Japanese standard of cleanliness. The staff ere are fantastic. After check-in, they have ready made advice and detailed for how to see the main attractions around Nagano. I had a car, so they offered great advice to see the Kaminari Falls, scenic Route 66 and onsens. The hotel is very social and the staff do everything to make the guest feel welcome and even join in with shared meals. Overall, I had a fantastic stay and I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in a traditional buildings with friendly host and staff."

The hostel also has two bikes that can be borrowed free of charge, and although unfortunately one of the bikes were broken, we were able to borrow bikes for free from the city - Nice! The interior of the hostel is super nice and cozy, and the hosts are very kind and always helpful. Only downsides were that it was quite cold in the house and the bar seemed to be closed (so we could not use our drink discount tickets) but it is also quite understandable as we were the only ones there our first night.
