There is also a roofdeck with a spectacular view of Ponta Delgada. The property is a renovated multi-storey 1930's townhouse with a central mahogany staircase (and elevator) that has been in the same family since 1961.The grandson manages the place and is very knowleadgeable about tours and very responsive to requests. I understand that people steal stuff, but it needs to be replaced. Great little corner shop just outside. BUT don't buy much food in one go - there is a single fridge for everyone staying, and no cupboard space. Breakfast food is yogurt and sliced bread, ham, cheese and jam. Wobbly banisters and broken picnic table.... but maintenance guys doing other stuff - why not fix all on one go ???"
