- "A great place to stay. Great value for money and great staff. Location wise, it's a long walk to the 'main tourist attractions' of Colombo." - "I think the staff was so kind and they really take their guests seriously. they greeted me with tea upon arrival, which was nice. later they arranged a car transfer to me even at short notice for a reasonable price. I also took the dropoff to the airport at 3 am, and they picked me up punctionally when agreed. The woman doorm had a shower and two toilet solely for women in the room. Most beds offer big lockers, but all included lockers. All beds have own universal charging sockets and a reading lamp. Also towel included. A random guy intruded into the girls room and the staff immediately took action to remove him and bann him from the premises before us even realizing something wrong was going on. So safety is not a worry in this place. You can buy beer and softdrinks at the hostel, and there's places for food just around the corner. Breakfast was cooked upon request. There was construction going on, but it didn't pose any noise. I'm sure the rooftop will be great when finnished. All in all its a chill and calm hostel, not a party hostel. Because of the staff, I'd recommend this hostel anyday for a visit in Colombo. It's not in the middle of the center, but I liked the calmer surroundings. You can easily access the place by tuktuk or bus."

- "This was a really lovely hostel to stay in. It has a nice garden area with plenty of seating, and is only a minute's walk from the beach and about 5 minutes from Galle Road. Both the beach and Galle Road have lots of nice restaurants so it's well-placed, and there are plenty of tuk tuk drivers around which made travelling to and from Colombo really easy. The staff at the hostel were very friendly and helpful - I got a very early train from Mount Lavinia to Jaffna and they drove me to the train station and even prepared a breakfast for me, at no extra cost. I arranged an airport pickup for when I arrived which made everything a lot easier, although it took me ages to find an email (it's laviniahostel@hotmail.com and they replied very quickly). Overall, I would absolutely recommend this hostel, it's in a really nice area with good beach access and friendly staff. I'd go back. "

- "The good: 1. Location is very good. It's close to nice cafes and restaurants. 2. Internet is good for working and meetings. The bad: 1. They advertise the place as co-working and co-living space but at the check-out they surprise you by saying that "You have to pay separately for the coworking space." The coworking space is basically chairs and tables and yes, you have to pay extra for that even if youre staying at the hostel. Most importantly, nowhere in the booking they say that you have to pay separately and extra or using the tables and chairs of the coworking space. I went to 2 other co-living and co-working hostels afterwards and asked if i have to pay separately and they both said no. And their room price is the same as Sugar hostel. 2. There is no hot or even warm water for shower. None. 3. The rooms are extremely dark. The paint on the wall is black and there are very few and small lights that keep the room so dark. You cannot know that it is day or night if you are in the room. Generally, this hostel is too expensive for what they offer and it is very wrong of them to surprise the guests at the check out that they have to pay separately for the coworking space."

I lost my voice one day - one of the staff knocked on my room door with a glass of hot water for my throat and offered to help further. You simply have to stay here if you're going to Galle! - "This hotel is located just in front of the entrance of Bundala national park. I really enjoyed early morning safari which they recommended. They provided me an upgraded room, and free dinner. That was so surprising. And I could see an elephant from the balcony at night. I hope to come back with friends in top season because they told me that we can camp in the national park with reasonable price."
