They have turn-down service, and leave the most delicious chocolates on your pillow! I inquired about the chocolatier and Paul, at reception went out of his way to help me find the shop to purchase a box. I think what will stick out the most when I look back on this hotel will be how beautiful the rooftop bar/restaurant, and pool was. On my arrival day, I spent some time having lunch there. Sergio was the bartender and I really can’t say enough nice things about him. He recommended places I should see, took time recommending wines they offered that I absolutely loved, and really just was a very kind young man. And it was a genuine kindness, not the fake type. I really appreciated this. It was so nice not to feel invisible. I am grateful for that."

The hotel is located right off of La Rambla, about 400 meters (1/4 mile) from the main city square (Placa de Catalunya) that divides the Gothic Quarter from the Eixample district, so you are right in the heart of Barcelona. The only issue is that there is a lot of graffiti along La Rambla (not.the hotel's fault), which is a little off-putting. However, the area is very safe and I would definitely stay at the Hotel 1898 or close to Placa de Catalunya if I came back to Barcelona. "
