The castle is magnificent with authentic fixtures throughout, adding to the experience. Great staff and dinner and breakfast was superb. A short drive to Hadrian's Wall and some English Heritage sites made for a great break. Only minor issue is the wifi on the second floor is pretty poor, but this does not detract from a very enjoyable stay."

The rooms are similar in quality to those in chain hotels but what makes it special is that it is family owned and run and their attention to their guests is outstanding. I cannot speak too highly of Lesley with whom we had most contact during our stay. The food in their restaurant is of decent quality and generous to a fault, a similar comment applying to their breakfasts. If you want somewhere welcoming and reasonably priced while visiting Beamish look to further."
