- "Very nice place to stay" - "As I was using my Tesco reward voucher from Clubcard I was restricted to mostly non branded hotels but chose Penny Hedge by Marstons Inns after reading reviews. Easy to book using the voucher and the price breakdown was clearly displayed meaning I knew what I was paying for beyond what the voucher covers. Friendly welcome from the staff, check in was easy and a table booked for that evening at the adjoining pub. It should be said that the reception/check in is in the pub itself - which is a separate building to the Inn, bar staff were quick to help us on arrival. Breakfast was plentiful, easy to book and paid for separately, extra pillows were provided within minutes of asking. Room was a twin with hanging space for clothes, desk, hairdryer and a note on the door saying iron/board available if needed. There is no lift - very secure building, my son loved that all the doors "tweeted" on opening/closing using the keycard. The single beds were narrower than we are used to but comfortable. Nowhere to hang coats in the room itself which surprised us so we used the double hooks on the back of the bathroom door so problem solved. If we had wanted our room serviced as were staying for 2 nights signs asked us to inform staff and display the door hanger. Hotel is 10 minute drive to Whitby town centre and harbourside - check out was easy and a reasonable 11am."

- "Beach weekend away with our dog. The Wilson arms is welcoming. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable of the local area. Breakfast was great. The room was well appointed and super clean. We had an evening meal in the bar and it was absolutely lovely - had steak and I struggled to finish it as the portions was so generous. We ate at the Inn on two nights (too full after fish & chips in Whitby the middle night!) and this was also good. The owner (Dawn?) and I think her name was Zoe, were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Altogether a lovely stay and we would definately recommend. "
