- "Overall the property is nice with an excellent breakfast but cleanliness and staff were disappointing and unfriendly. Check-in took a very long time, we had to sit for 20 min. before we got our key, hairs in the bathroom and one really big tuft of hair on the shower wall. Staff at breakfast were grumpy, tables were not cleaned and set to be seated for new guests so we sat down at a table with tableware and napkins and got a wave and bad reply from the waiter (apparently those tables were meant for lunch already). We felt like we were not welcome at breakfast."

- "Love everything " - "We had a fantastic stay but the quality of the food is the reason my overall is down " - "Whilst this (large) hotel is well maintained and spotlessly clean, we were eaten alive by flies and mosquitos, probably due to the adjacent river and sand dunes. The swimming pool was too cold for most people to use (bear in mind, we holidayed in October)and there was a charge of 10 Euros per person per day to use the indoor swimming pool/fitness centre in an adjacent hotel. Not the place to go for a romantic holiday for two - at peak times you couldn't hear yourself think in the self-service dining room, although the food choice and quality was excellent. You definitely need a car for this part of Spain and the resort itself is not really within easy walking distance of the hotel, unless you like a daily hike."

- "This is our second stay at a Barcelò hotel and a second excellent trip. We had an excellent stay at the Umbria Mar! The view from our terrace was an outstanding see view with plenty of space to move around. Although the bathroom area could be updated, the whole room was very spacious and the bed incredibly comfortable. All the amenities were spot on with a good size swimming pool, the most number of sunbeds I have ever seen at an hotel and the staff were incredible. Plenty of entertainment without it being pushy or over the top. As this is predominately a Spanish clientele hotel, it was very chilled out, a lot of talking and no loutish behaviour. We received a fantastic surprise from the hotel, with a birthday cake for my partner left in our room and a happy birthday message by email. Great touch and very much appreciated. Will be returning again as we loved staying here so much. "
