We are a world traveler and stayed in many hotels, but we never had the kind of service we had at Stannum. Carla and Abigail are the nicest people we ever met in our lives. Due to change in our flight we arrived early morning to Stannum, but they were able to arrange a room for us which we needed after almost 18 hours flight. Carla, Abigail, David ( at the restaurant) , the hotel manager and all the staff we met showed us a lot of respect and kindness. Housekeeping is also excellent and every morning they cleaned the room and changed the towels. Stannum is located one of the safest location in La Paz near American consulate. It is just a few minutes away from cable cars for easy transportation around the city. It is in a very convenient location to markets, restaurants, shopping center, bars etc. The breakfast is excellent, it’s open buffet, but you can also order omelets, pancakes etc. They also serve dinner at Tera restaurant and food is excellent with very reasonable prices. Dave ( David) will make everything to satisfy you. Today will be our 6 th night and will stay an additional 2 more nights, a total for 8 nights. Each day and night we have experienced was better previous stays. We especially feel that Carla and Abigail are family members. They also surprised us with a welcome dessert with our native language of Turkish. We love everything and everybody about Stannum."

When we arrived by taxi, they open the doors for us, we handed them the taxi fare and they paid the driver to make sure we didn’t get ripped off. Every time. The hotel room is just like the pictures and SUPER clean, I checked it with my high end black light. The hotel is far from downtown, but 4-5 blocks away from the gondola. There are paxis galore, in case you are worried about tour pickups. Everything is a hike in La Paz but taxi or gondola is cheap. Our Titicaca tour fell through and the hotel arranged an even better private one, with Seagull Travel, that was first class all the way, for $200 bucks less. The tour was customized to our archeological interests, and our English speaking guide even took us by boat to the best little museum in Pata Patani to see an amazing mummy with an absolutely mind blowing elongated skull. After drinking from the eternal fountains of youth, health, and wisdom on the Island of the sun, I can say with absolute certainty, we both recommend Casa Blanca Suites."

- "This is probably the best hotel in the town, great staff, a beautiful room, well designed to Western standards and a great view of the lake from the third floor. A glass wall in the bathroom afforded a view of the lake from the shower. They also provided us with an oxygen tank to the room for 180 bob which was great. What I didn't like was the shower over bath. The shower head was too close to the wall so I found myself with one leg up on the bath rim to try to get my body under the shower properly. The water was often not hot in the morning. It was explained to me that they couldn't have an elevator because the power supply is unreliable, so if you have trouble with stairs as I do, I suggest you request a first floor room. Although it's a great location near to the lake, there are no cafes, restos or convenience stores close by. A bottle of water is provided on your fist day only. A snack bar at reception would be great. Despite the negatives I have no hesitation giving this hotel a five star rating."

A true homage to our name Qalapankara, which in Aymara means flowered stone. We are a small refuge for mountaineers, hikers, climbers and travelers looking to take advantage of the strategic location of the town of Peñas in the Bolivian highlands and the center of the Cordillera Real to rest and gather strength for another adventure.

The Hotel has a unique architectural design whose purpose has been to immerse the guest in the natural diversity that defines this Andean country. The spacious hall evokes the grandeur of the Bolivian altiplano, located more than 4,000 meters above sea level. As you cross the hall, you will come across the rooms, each of which is named after a mountain of the Cordillera Real, paying homage to the majesty of the Andes. Behind these mountains, in the bathrooms of each room, you will discover the characteristic flora of the Yungas region and the inter-Andean valleys.

The hotel has a fully equipped kitchen for you to prepare your own meals. Peñas does not have well-stocked stores, so we recommend that you bring your own food from the city. If you request breakfast, it has an extra cost and it is necessary to reserve in advance, but you will not regret it.
