Beach is a lovely sandy vibe and hotel sits in own ground with good pool. It appears that the resort is being brought up to date with reconditioning of beach cafes and restaurants. Food in these was average which let the resort down. Equally the restaurant in the main hotel was closed so meals were taken in the resort rotunda (breakfast good) which was a little strange in its ambience and setting. Staff were helpful but Very little English is spoken. Surrounding areas scenic and enough restaurants in the area to make up for the average food on site. Good fresh pasta and fish. Vieste a lovely town to visit. Room was excellent a junior suite on top floor. Great double shower bathroom spacious living dressing room and large bedroom and balcony with views across pool and downtown the sea. It is twinned with an apartment complex with kids and adult activities through the day. Enjoyed the relaxation of the resort but wouldn’t rush back for the food"

- "A nice resort, with a pool and private beach. The resort is set in a natural cove. We stayed in the Cala del Turco villas, newly constructed recently. NIce room with small balcony. Comfortable beds and modern bathroom. We stayed out of season so many parts of the resort were out of use like the beachside restaurants. However, a comfortable stay and pleasant, helpful staff. It's a bit out of the way being about 10km from the nearest town of Peschici and this would be my main drawback. A place I will return to in the season. It's location, setting and availability of restaurants in season lends itself to a half board or full board stay when planning a getaway break relaxing in the resort for most of the time."

- "This is one of these "ratings don't cover enough ground" reviews, as--other than the pool--the facilities at Hotel D'Amato ranged from disappointing to average; yet, our experience was stellar. Hence the title: "troubled excellence." So, if you are expecting a western four star facility..., forget-about-it. The rooms were quaint, but renovations long overdue. The common areas, too, smacked of decades of inattention. All serviceable, but aging, and showing signs of wear. Had we wanted a Hilton-like generic experience, though, we wouldn't have chosen Hotel D'Amato. Rather, we wanted an authentic middle class Italian vacation experience: a place friends and family have been returning to for generations. A place where staff hug clients, where the owner greets and earnestly inquires about you, where the dining room is overseen by an old pro who'll cook your eggs, if need be. Other things you should know: the beach is close, getting into upper Peschici is easy, there's a market across the streets, and the cappuccinos are pretty damned good. "
