The hotel is located on one of the main streets in town, but the town is relatively quiet. My main interest was in the city of Schaffhausen, but it is only a 4 minute (4 franc) train ride away, with multiple trains scheduled per day (almost like an above ground subway). The hotel staff - in the main office and the breakfast room - were friendly and helpful."

The walls are paper thin, you can hear conversations, snoring, coughing, TV, etc easily from other rooms. You don't have access cards to your room, you have a key with a big piece of metal hanging from the key, which feels a bit outdated and clumsy to walk around with in your pocket. The people who did speak English were very helpful and the people who didn't speak English always found someone who could understand you. They all seemed very kind and the food in the restaurant was pretty good. Breakfast was pretty good, not a huge breakfast but has all the essentials and very nice people working there. I would stay there again, but there is room for improvement. "

(Added bonus was the very friendly shop next door that rented/sold all sorts of floatation devices, from swim noodles to inflatable rafts, make sure you book early for outings. And don‘t miss floating down the Rhein! The hotel service was extremely friendly, and helpful. The building/rooms were a little shabby , but for the price and the location( also being a VERY old structure , Napolean used it as his headquarters) I was very pleased. Thankyou!!!!"
