- "The property was EXACTLY as it appeared on the website. Beautiful grounds, including the spice garden. HUGE bungalows and being surrounded by beautiful foliage. Clean beach and easy access to the ocean. Great staff. Two blue monkeys resident in the trees. GIANT African snails all over. The food was so good. Menus changed often and I was there for one week. Accommodating staff make arrangements to see things away from the property such as tours of Jozani Forest, Stone Town and Prison Island to see the giant tortoises. "

- "Excellent stay even though it rained 2 full days while I was there. The room and grounds are gorgeous. The bathtub and outside shower are amazing. Note there’s no wifi in the villas but you can download in the main dining area. The meals were scrumptious. You will not leave hungry. The fresh juices were delicious and the tuna poke bowl was a favorite. The dining staff is very attentive and would bring me seconds of what I liked before even thinking to ask. They even packed me a breakfast as I had an early flight. The beach is beautiful though it is a little rocky when you first enter the water and then it’s fine. I snorkeled which was great. I had a good massage though I felt like the staff needed a bit more training but my expectations may have been high due to reception and the dining staff’s treatment. - "We had an amazing stay at the Amani! The hotel is a perfect place for an adults-only, quiet, relaxing stay. The location was a bit outside of Paje (20 minute walk along the beach), and there were limited options for dining because of the location, but dinner is included so that meant we had a quiet, delicious dinner every night. The view of the pool, grounds, and beautiful beach were beautiful. There were lounges chairs on the beach and pool and enough for every guest - a first for us! The only downside was the large construction project next door. It didn't really affect us, but we talked to several guests who were placed in rooms with a view of the construction and a jack hammer pounding all day long. They were equally frustrated that they had not been informed in advance. Also, the hotel lists itself as a 5-star hotel. It is not, though it is certainly very nice. What really sets the Amani apart is the incredible staff. We felt pampered as if we were in a typical 5-star hotel. In particular, Hamad helped us unwind and relax from the moment we arrived until we left; Alfred was amazing with his attentiveness and constant joy; Robert never stopped anticipating what we might want or need next. We highly recommend this hotel, though you'd probably want to check in advance to make sure you have a room that is not facing the project next door (it looks like many months of work left ahead). - "I can’t recommend Clove Island highly enough. The setting is stunning, right on a super quiet beach and so relaxing and zen. The design of the apartments is gorgeous, so much attention to detail, it felt like a serene beach house. The staff are all amazing, the manager really took time to make sure everyone enjoyed their stay, and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was gorgeous, and the rooms are immaculate - as well as the pool area. The location is probably not for everyone as it is very quiet with nothing really happening around. This was just what I was looking for but if you’re looking for something lively then another part of the island may suit better. The beach is not really for swimming I wouldn’t think, due to the tide. But great to watch all the locals fishing in the morning while the sun is rising. If you’re looking for relaxation and a little Island escape then there is no better place to do it, I’d book again in a heartbeat."

Although I made an error in my booking by reserving the two-bedroom villa for only two adults, the hotel management showed great understanding. They kindly offered a generous solution by asking us to cover only 50% of the additional amount, which we truly appreciated. The villa itself was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed. The entire property is well-maintained and provides a wonderful boutique experience. One recommendation: it would be great if a pool heater could be added, as the water can be quite chilly in July.
