During dinner, we once again enjoyed the all-singing, joyous birthday celebrations the staff perform as they approached people on other tables who were celebrating birthdays. Considering no one in our group was celebrating any special occasion, imagine our surprise when the staff presented us with a cake while serenading us with a song. Once the celebratory song was over, staff explained it was a 'welcome back' cake - which had been organised by Shiela and was greatly appreciated. It is this type of personal touch that makes our stay at Ngorongoro Serena memorable long after we have returned home, We were lucky to get clear skies on our second morning at the lodge - and hence enjoyed a magnificent sunrise from our balcony. The car had no brake or transmission fluids and an corroded alternator wire - Eli stayed at the mechanic while we got some food next door The mechanics also said the front tire was shot but they were closing and Eli actually swapped out the bad tire for the spare the next morning before we went to Ngorongoro crater And, after we checked out for our trip to Serengeti, lilac hideaway coordinated with their sister hotel to let us leave our car and extra luggage at that hotel and then arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport and then to pick us up on return to go back and get our bags and car All about customer service at the lilac hotels!"

Till now, the kitchen only consists of a small gas cooker and a mini-fridge which is enough for simple meals but there are restaurants close by. You'll be surrounded by a lush garden filled with fruit trees and spices, all yours to enjoy in complete privacy thanks to the beautiful wooden fence enclosing the space

It is a very peaceful, relaxed and friendly place suitable for both short and long stays and for all types of people - whether you are a single traveller, a large group, a family with small children, a volunteer or a doctor at KCMC Hospital, this is the place for you. Our guests love it here because it is so affordable yet provides all the basic comforts in spacious and beautiful surroundings.

The space
We can receive thirty-five guests. We have 17 bed rooms with either a double bed, a double bed plus a single bed, two single beds, or three single beds, all of them en-suit with a private bathroom. (Some of the bathrooms have bath tubs. All have hot water.) Some of the rooms are in the main house and some are small private bungalows. Most of the three-bed rooms are in a bigger bungalow, each with a private entrance and roofed veranda. All rooms have a beautiful view towards the garden.
