Welcome to The Fieldbrook Retreat! This quiet getaway is ideal for both nature lovers and urban travelers. Just eleven minutes from the California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport (ACV) and twenty minutes from Arcata Plaza, this six-and-a-half-acre property is surrounded by redwood trees and tucked away in the quiet community of Fieldbrook. Come read a book on the back deck, stargaze in the hot tub, or stroll through the redwoods to find the salmon stream that cuts through the property.

This listing is for five bedrooms in the main area of our house. The main floor has two bedrooms and a full bath. There are three additional bedrooms on the second floor — one master bedroom with a full master bath and two bedrooms that share a third full bath. Our kitchen is stocked with major cooking and baking utensils such as pots, pans, measuring cups, etc as well as some specialty appliances such as a KitchenAid mixer, Vitamix blender, and Keurig coffee maker.

Our location is perfect for those looking to explore the North Coast, as it offers easy access to all of the natural attractions in the Humboldt area. A forty-five-minute drive up the coast will bring you to Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, a World Heritage Site home to giant redwoods, waterfalls, and herds of elk. We are also located just ten minutes from the ocean and fifteen minutes from surf. If visiting during the summer months, Willow Creek and Trinity River offer pristine swimming holes. Our house manual contains more detailed information regarding the attractions local to our area.

The house itself is Tudor in style with craftsman elements. I am a retired builder and built the house myself as a home where I could raise my four children. All four are grown now and raising children of their own.

Your booking includes starter amenities such as Keurig coffee cups, propane for the gas grill, shampoos, toilet paper, and laundry detergent. We have a washing machine and dryer downstairs that we invite you to use as needed.

We have a tenant named Andrea who lives in the downstairs lock off with her twelve-year-old daughter. Her apartment is self-contained with its own kitchen, bath, and separate entry. You likely won’t meet one another, but you may see her on her way to and from the house, or when doing laundry. She and her daughter are friendly, so feel free to say hi!

No pets at this time, sorry. Thank you for understanding.

No events allowed unless approved. Our Ring doorbell is equipped with a camera in order to monitor the number of cars parked in the driveway.

We ask that you respect our neighbors across the valley and try to keep loud noise down after 9pm.

A note on sleeping arrangements: our home sleeps 10 guests comfortably, but can accommodate up to 14 or 15, depending on how willing you are to utilize floor space and common areas. The house has five bedrooms, four of which have cal king mattresses and one of which has a queen. We also have three air mattresses–one queen and two twins. With the air mattresses set up, the house can sleep up to 14, and with the full-length couch in the living room included, we could even feasibly sleep 15. We also have a "pack n play" crib in one of the bedroom closets if anyone is traveling with an infant.

There is an outdoor sink with hot and cold water, a mini fridge, a 2 burner hot plate and an electric tea kettle with coffee and tea provided. Cooking utensils are also provided.

There is a wood stove inside the dome as the primary heat sourcd. There is an electric fireplace that is intended to be used just to take the chill off as ypu get the wood stove going. Enough firewood for each night is provided, and additional firewood can be purchased on site if needed. You are also more than welcome to bring your own firewood.

The dome is on private property in a country neighborhood and shares a driveway with a residence.

There is no wifi.

Welcome to The Sutter Escape, the front half of a modern duplex just one mile from Central Avenue in McKinleyville. You'll be centrally located near the town’s best restaurants and shops, and just a quick 11-minute drive to downtown Arcata.

This cozy retreat features two comfortable bedrooms—one with a King bed, the other with a Queen—each equipped with its own smart TV. The fully stocked kitchen includes everything you need to prepare a large meal and our spacious backyard is perfect for BBQs.

Enjoy a relaxing rain shower, a cozy living room with a smart TV and board games, and the convenience of an in-unit washer and dryer. Outside, you'll find a large fenced backyard, a spacious deck, and a BBQ grill—perfect for sunny afternoons. Our kitchen is stocked with all major cooking and baking utensils such as pots, pans, measuring cups, etc as well as some specialty appliances such as a KitchenAid mixer, Ninja air fryer, Ninja blender, six-burner oven, electric tea kettle, and both a drip coffee and K-Cup machine (please note: coffee not provided).

Two bedroom one bath house in willow Creek. There is a large deck with a hammock, large fenced yard, and pool area. The pool area is fully fenced, with a large built in pool that is about 9 foot deep with a diving board, slide, and basketball hoop. There is no lifeguard present so enter this area at your own risk and note the pool rules on the gate. There is also a propane BBQ, table with chairs, and chaise lounge chairs in this area.

There is a walking trail down to the Trinity River. With a large sandy beach. Trail is through the walking gate across the street, down the asphalt road, to the trail entrance. Please shut the gate behind you.

- "the house wasn’t clean at all, floors were dirty, the rooms and living room had a musty/sweaty smell. My socks fell on the bathroom floor, and when I picked them up they were full of dust. All furniture was full of dust, the fridge was dirty, all windows were dirty/dusty. We were asked to not use shoes inside which we did, and our socks got filthy right away. I was shocked to see that it wasn’t clean, isn’t that why they charge a cleaning fee? The house itself is really pretty, and the neighborhood is very quite."

Right in the middle of sunny Blue Lake, our beautiful studio is surrounded by organic gardens and fruit trees. It's an urban homestead, perfect for the single traveler or couple looking for rest and rejuvenation.

The studio includes big windows overlooking an acre of gardens, a pond, and redwood-covered hills. Across the street is a large park. It is a five-minute walk to the world-famous Dell Arte School of Physical Theater, Blue Lake Casino, and trails to the Mad River and local brewery.

The studio is a single large room, recently remodeled, with a very comfortable queen-size bed, kitchenette, wood stove and heater, and flat-screen TV with cable/Netflix. A private bathroom is located in the main house two steps from the front entrance to the studio.

Our private in-law apartment sports lots of natural light, it's own entrance and off-street parking for two cars (or a camper/trailer), queen sized bed, heat/air, and a shared deck and garden. This unit has a separate 20 Gallon water heater, which allows for one 5 minute shower or 2 short showers per hour.
No visiting pets.

Relax in this comfortable (approximately 425 square feet) dog friendly one-bedroom apartment in sunny Blue Lake. The apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, comfortable living and dining room space and 1 bedroom with queen bed. Air mattress or single cot are available for additional guests and can be set up in living/kitchen area. Private entrance with deck right outside your door with table and chairs for outdoor enjoyment.

The space
The apartment is attached to the main house where I live with my family, but you will enjoy total privacy, while having access to me when desired. Your private entrance is a short walk on a pleasant, well-lit pathway through the back yard, and you have a dedicated parking space just outside the fence. The living room includes a comfortable seating arrangement. You'll have access to high speed internet via wifi. You’ll also be able to prepare full meals if you desire since the kitchen includes a small refrigerator, stove, full size oven, pots, pans, utencils and high quality dishes. There is also a microwave, water filter, toaster, coffee maker, and hot water kettle. The bedroom, with queen-sized bed connects to bathroom with shower.
The apartment is connected to my home so you may hear sounds of people on other side of wall. We are generally a quiet family and do not stay up late. It is quieter in the apartment bedroom when the door is shut. The entire space is most comfortable for 2 people and cozy if adding 1-2 more people. The airbed is stored in closet on top shelf. If you need the cot let me know.

Guest access
The entrance, yard and garden is a shared area. Park in the gravel parking lot right outside the gate. Go through the gate, and then you will pass the entrance to my home on the left, continue walking the stone path, pass a small deck on the left and garden area which leads you toward the west side of the house and to the small wooden stairs that lead to the apartment. The Front door is at the top of the stairs on your left. You access the apartment via a code you will punch in at the front door. The punch pad is below the door handle on the front door. Punch in 4 digits (provided to you after booking the place) then turn lever to the right to open and to lock punch in same digits and turn lever to left.

Other things to note
I have 2 very friendly female dogs. One is a aussie mix and other is terrier/pit.
The aussie is a good watch dog and probably will bark when she sees new people coming in, but she never bites. I also have a black female cat. None of these animals have access to the apartment. The apartments is dog friendly. I do not allow cats but am willing to make special arrangements. The pet fee is applied to the stay on airbnb. Please use the provided blankets and towels to protect the furniture when your dog sits on them. Also clean up all dog poop that is produced on the property.

This 800 sq ft apartment can be your ideal stay for whatever brings you to Humboldt County: hiking in the redwoods, combing the beach, a family vacation, an extended stay for work. This unit has modern amenities with classic appeal. Sunlight during the day, quiet darkness at night. Blue Lake is a small, sleepy town – out of the coastal fog belt – with river trails, a coffee shop, brewery, bar, playground, theatre and music, all within walking distance.

The space
This rental is on the top floor of a two story, historic building in quiet downtown Blue Lake. The Baxter Building was built in 1888, and rebuilt in 1912 after a downtown fire. This apartment was lovingly remodeled in the 1990s, and still retains much of its Victorian farmhouse charm. The Baxter Building is also home to a business, and 4 other studio/one bedroom apartments.

This second floor unit has its own entrance, up a flight of 25 stairs. There is plentiful street parking. It is centrally located with most of Blue Lake’s attractions within a 1/4 mile.

Located eight minutes from Arcata, our charming bungalow is comfortable and cozy and easily accessible. It’s tucked around the majestic Redwood Forest and the meandering Mad River leading towards our grand Pacific shores. The town of Blue Lake escapes the often coastal cloud cover and instead, boasts sunny days with a salty breeze. Less than a mile to the Mad River Brewery, to river access, and the world famous Logger Bar, our bungalow offers a quiet retreat close to the larger town.

Historic redwood home centrally located in Blue Lake with a beautiful California native plant garden. Comfortable for the whole family, with two bedrooms and a bonus room that can be an office, den, or extra room with a twin pullout bed. Walking distance to the Mad River Brewery, local coffee shop, parks, and bar. A short drive to many scenic adventures on the coast or in the redwoods. The space
This home was built in 1993 and was remodeled with an addition in 2008. This wood toned home is approx 1600 squ. ft and is a three bedroom two bath. The floors in the kitchen and living room are oak hardwood. In the drop down living room the floor is brazillian cherry. The living, master bed and master bathroom have 9' walls with vaulted pine cielings int the living room and bedroom.. The master bedroom is carpet ed and has a woodstove flame electric heater, The masterbath has a tile floor and is tiled around a 6' jaccuzzi tub-shower. The walls in the home are hand textured with bull-nosed corners through out. The kitchen has granite tiled counters with a gas stove top and oven, a microwave and a toaster oven. There is a dishwasher. The home has a forced air heating system and a wood stove in the living room. The back deck overlooks the town of Blue Lake and the Fickle Hill mountains with a southern view.
Blue Lake is a historical logging town with The Mad River running through it. The neighbors next door are wonderful and have a terrific garden. The Mad River Brewery with its award winning beer (best pale ale in the U.S. for at least two years in the past 7 years) is located near the river. The Logger Bar has recently been re-modeled and has live music four nights a week. The Blue Lake casino offers two restaurants. Stardoughs Cafe is located across the street from the Logger and opens early with great coffee and breakfast and stays open until 9 pm. It is usually sunny in Blue Lake and the Pacific ocean is approx. 10 miles away. The public transit bus line can take you to Arcata, Humbolt State University, Eureka, Trinidad or East to Willow Creek- where the Trinity River runs and is the Bigfoot capital of the world. The famous Del Arte festival in Blue Lake runs from June 20th until July 20th. It hosts plays. the folk-life music festival and live music throughout the month.
