An elevated, wooden walkway takes you from the cabin to a fully wired/lit/enclosed treehouse straddling the seasonal creek (runs Oct-May). And super fast Starlink WiFi! Explore the forest, hunt for mushrooms, or enjoy peace & quiet in the beautiful serenity of the Redwood Coast.

Essex Springs Redwood & River Retreat

Enjoy a secluded retreat with a hot tub. This contemporary-style cabin in the Redwoods is bathed in sunlight and is a short stroll to the Mad River and only minutes from HSU and downtown Arcata's local shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and Community Forest.

This cozy redwood retreat has a welcoming covered front porch, a fully equipped kitchen, and bamboo and tiled floors throughout. The open floor plan accommodates a comfortable queen-sized bed downstairs and a cozy sleeping loft with a full-sized bed upstairs... each within the view & comfort of the warm stone hearth. The west-facing sunny back deck is ideal for outdoor dining while enjoying this private Redwood Oasis. And a short stroll to outdoor hot tub

*3 night minimum during 3 day weekends and holiday weeks (incl. 4th of July). For HSU graduation weekend is 4 night minimum & $250/nt.

Also, if you have a little time to explore, our location is just a short drive to beautiful local beaches near Eureka and Trinidad, & natural paradises of Sumeg State State Park, Big Lagoon and Redwood National Park.

Our 47 acre Redwood forested setting provides an ideal place and way to vacation or retreat. Re Covid, we ask all of our guests to only arrive healthy and symptom-free. Our extensive cleaning procedures between guest stays meet the highest CDCs Hospitality sanitizing recommendations . There are antibacterial hand soap and Multi-purpose disinfectant cleaner in the rental.

The TENT is down for the winter. The cabin has a queen & twin bed and is great for 2-3 people (it's small but cozy). A unique experience awaits you at Humboldt's coolest Glamping spot! Enjoy an escape to our comfy 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with large open lot, completely fenced and gated with above ground pool. Soak in the hot tub under the stars by night & enjoy the pool or river by day. Cozy up to the wood stove or venture outside to wrap around the deck & patio. Deck offers gas grill. Kitchen is fully-equipped to prepare delicious meals and gather with your loved ones.

Our 2 story house is located on a quiet street backs up to forest and mountain views, a few minutes drive to Camp Kimtu and Rays food store.

* No smoking inside the house.
* No pets allowed, no exceptions.
* Sufficient propane provided, if propane runs out, refill at Chevron.
* Quiet hours 10pm to 8am
(even a normal outdoor conversation can echo through the neighborhood)
Any complaints from neighbors, your reservation will be cancelled at your cost.

Pool will be opened from June to end of August. Pool is not available from September to May.

Hot Tub is open all year round.

*Campora Propane Services may show up unannounced to the refill propane tank but will not enter the home. They usually come once every 2-3 months.

- "Nice cabin in the woods with a hot" - "I liked the quiet neighborhood. Parking was a little tight and had to back out of a fairly steep driveway onto the main road, but there was little traffic so not too bad. Beds were comfortable. My biggest concern was finding hairs and a small piece of a soap bar on the upstairs shower floor. The shower was obviously not cleaned properly, if at all. That was gross!" - "Location was in a nice neighborhood that was quiet and felt safe. House was in good repair and clean. Beds were comfortable. Deck around pool seems like it’s ready to be replaced (quite a few soft spots that made us off balanced) but having a pool and hot tub was a plus. Would also have liked a full sized coffee maker instead of the little 5 cup. "

- "Overall, a great little cabin. Super comfortable bed/bedding. Could use bedside lamps and a dresser or closet of some sort or even a luggage stand. So quiet, with a cute little firepit/BBQ area which was a great spot for coffee at dawn while listening to the woods awakening. Wood stove in living area is not functional. Nor is the full oven, and there is no microwave, but there is a toaster oven which sufficed just fine."
