The Walk-In Cabins sit close to hiking trails, the Ohlsen Recreation Center, Stengel Beach, and The Sea Ranch Golf Links, but are private and serenely scattered in the Redwoods. More outdoor and cultural activities can be found south and north of The Sea Ranch along the coast, such as the Arena Theater, the B Bryan Wildlife Preserve, Fort Ross State Historic Park, and Point Arena Light House. - "Beautiful plac" - "Very nice little spot for 2, just the getaway we needed." - "We very much enjoyed our stay at cabin 55! This was our first time in Sea Ranch and were taken away by the landscape. The house is nestled into the woods (not on the ocean side, but very close) and accommodated the two of us very well. The house was clean, apart from some dirty dishes (which we noticed a previous review had mentioned as well). The only call out is that the home we stayed in appeared slightly different than the images shown. The kitchen was blue, not green, and the layout of the house/some of the furniture was different. Unclear if the photos had just been taken a while ago and updates had been made, or if it was another property altogether. Regardless, we very much enjoyed and recommend this stay if you’re a small group looking to stay in the heart of SR!"

Surrounded by a coastal forest of redwood trees, bishop pines, sword ferns, and wild rhododendrons, this modern cabin is situated at the top of a ravine with views of the ocean beyond.

Originally designed by one of the core innovators of the Sea Ranch architectural style, William Turnbull Jr., the all-wood rustic pine interior reflects his love of the traditional rural barns and ranch buildings he often drew upon for inspiration.

Architect-owned and recently renovated by Joanne Koch, AIA, the cabin features a newly remodeled kitchen integrated into an open plan living/dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows, a fireplace sitting nook, and a sunny south-facing deck with lounge seating, a dining table, and an outdoor grill.
A second living space - two bedrooms, and two full baths, connects to the living room through a light-filled atrium with a stairway to two second-story loft spaces joined by a suspended catwalk. The two lofts have built-in seating/beds for extra sleeping options.

The space
Fir Wood is part of Sea Ranch’s architectural heritage — an original Cluster House shaped by William Turnbull Jr. and the founding design team’s vision. Conceived as modest dwellings that connect daily life to meadow, forest, and ocean, these homes embody the Sea Ranch ethos of living lightly on the land.

Recently refreshed, Fir Wood pairs its original character with a restrained curation of furnishings and amenities. Inside, a wood-burning fireplace anchors the living space, while built-in window seating and a dining area look onto the meadow. The ocean-facing kitchen is equipped with essentials for simple, shared meals. Two restful bedrooms and two full bathrooms on separate levels provide quiet comfort, while a loft-library with a daybed, lounge chair, and design books offers a calm perch toward the sea.

Outside, the deck opens to meadow and sky, with a sunken cedar hot tub and a heated lounge chair for mornings in the fog or evenings under the stars.

As seen in Dwell, Turnbull's Baker House is a Sea Ranch classic Binker Barn resting on 2 acres of redwoods. While it was built in 1968, it's been updated to make sure you have everything you need for a private and relaxing stay: the separate office has monitors and 300+ Mbps internet, the kitchen is fully-equipped, and the garage has a level 2 EV charger and a Peloton. Enjoy the outdoors year-round from the hot tub or the Galanter & Jones heated furniture that overlooks the forest and ocean.

The space
As our family's retreat home, Baker House has everything you need to take care of young children. We're happy to share our high chair, nursery, and stroller with families looking for a quiet nature stay.

The kitchen is complete with Viking and Miele appliances and just about anything you'd need to cook or bake, including a standing mixer, food processor, Shun knives, and a pasta maker. If we're missing something, please just let us know so we can stock it!

Our home features contemporary artists of the Pacific Northwest.

During your stay, you may use our passes to Sea Ranch's facilities so that you can park anywhere, use the tennis courts, and swim in the pools.

There is plenty of parking on site. You can walk to nearby trails or LyndonDesign Gallery. Everything else is a short drive away.

Other things to note
The house has many updates, but it is still a cabin barn built in the 1960s. I.e., it might blow a fuse when you use two appliances at once. Some air might creep in through the top floor window. (We hope not, but you might need to plunge a toilet.)

The studio bedroom is separate from the bathrooms and requires a short walk outside.

The house is in the Sea Ranch forest, which means sometimes critters and creatures (such as mice or insects) like to come inside. We take standard remediation initiatives, but every once in a while, a mouse might sneak in.
