- "Great spot for a relaxing weekend with family. The house is delightful, the views amazing and the proximity to the river/beach a great plus! The house was well stocked with all basics / cooking appliances / gadgets. There are also lots of board games and between the beach, nature walks, cooking and games, we never turned the TV on. Even the teenagers left their phones to the side. Highly recommended!" - "Everything was great." - "This place was tranquil, inviting, easy to figure out. The bed I stayed in was firm and comfortable. Flannel sheets were a nice touch! It’s a lovely cabin, but honestly the deck out back where you sit and just “be” with the trees was exactly what my heart & soul needed. River is very close - so pretty! I think I should have known from the photos that it was all upstairs, as in there is no ground floor entry, everything has to be schlepped upstairs. Somehow I didn’t realize that though and I’m pointing it out because I don’t see in the listing where it says it either, though again, pictures of the front kinda show it, and people who have mobility impairment - this might not be the best choice of properties. Stairs were open slots and my dog was terrified of them - so she got to learn something new haha! (That doesn’t reflect on property of course, my dog is just a weirdo). The back area down to the river is not really secure. My 56 lb shepherd mix fit through the slats (one was broken off) fortunately she was going in from the river side, not trying to escape. The back fence is deck rail height and a bigger dog or determined escape artist could get out, so don’t leave your pooches unsupervised back there. As I said, my dog is a weirdo & never wants to leave me. It was wonderful to be able to bring my dog, though, & I always feel owners are responsible for their canine friends - just a warning is all. I highly recommend this property to the right party!"

- "One of my favorites properties I’ve stayed ever in the Russian river area. Living in San Francisco we make it up to guerneville pretty often. This place is convenient and clean and comfortable. One can find everything they need in the house and of course, the location could not be better - so close to downtown and all places. Year Round Fun! This is an amazing family cabin tucked in among the redwoods. The location is ideal. Literally just steps away from the Russian River with a private dock, you can't get much closer to the river without falling in.

The house itself is a gem. Having been redone multiple times, it is a beautiful blend of classic traditional with the right amount of new touches. Stunning redwood batten board throughout the house sets the perfect backdrop for the house.

The house has been raised off the street and has a great deck off the front which is perfect for summertime barbeques and enough room to accommodate teak cocktail chairs with a modular square cocktail table, a round picnic table with chairs and piazza lights. Perfect for winding down in the evenings following a great day on the river.

As you enter the house, there is a great room with a phenomenal fireplace. The nearly 20-foot ceilings scream for you to sit by the fire and enjoy a glass (bottle?) of your favorite found chardonnay or pinot.

And, the back enclosed porch is a wonderful gathering place for dining and lounging with views of the surrounding vistas.

The house really is a great place to getaway to. The access to the river is amazing. The dock is a great way to enjoy the water. Whether you want to rent paddle boats or canoes from Johnson's Beach or just lounge on an inner-tube or raft, there is something special about just going for a swim in the river.

For the beach-goers, Johnson's beach is less than a mile and is a great walk.

For the SPORTSMAN, the fishing is great. Do that from the dock, wade upstream and use the adjacent beach, or take a short drive out to Jenner or Bodega to charter a trip. Some friends of ours often plan abalone dives and use the river as a homebase.

If you are into GOLF, the Northwoods golf course is only 3.8 miles from the house. Designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie in 1928, the course is a classic MacKenzie design with 9 holes winding through giant redwood trees. (This is the same architect who designed Cypress Point, Augusta National, Meadow Club, Pasatiempo and many other great courses).

For the WINE lover, the list of amazing Russian River wineries is tremendous. Korbel does a terriffic tour and has a really great deli and picnic area. Gary Farrell is one of the most well respected wine makers around, producing some super premium wines. Porter Creek is a little more laid back ... and a lot of fun.

For the FOODIES, there is a wide variety. Everything from tasty comfort food and special breakfast places (See: The River Inn, Piknik Town Market) to pizza to brewery / pub food (Stumptown Brewery) to high end / romantic / special dinners at Applewoods and Boon. And, delicious eats and mezcal at El Barrio.

For the KIDS, there are a ton of possible adventures. One of our favorites continues to be Pee Wee Golf & Arcade which is just across the river from town (about a mile from the house) and Rio Nido Pee Wee Golf. Armstrong Woods is very nearby and a great spot to stand among giant redwood trees. There are hiking trails here but also a flat walkable area.

Packed with retro styling, the spacious kitchen has everything you need to prepare full meals, including oven, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher, as well as ample cabinet space, cookware, small appliances, and utensils, and an assortment of pantry staples. The classic kitchen table seats four and can play host to delicious dinners, board game night, and whatever else you have
planned.

Bedrooms & Baths:

With its coastal decor and calming feel, the bright and airy bedroom ensures you sweet dreams among the redwoods. This space has a comfortable queen-size bed and lots of light. Two more guests can sleep on the futons in the living room. The full bath on this property enjoys lots of light, as well, thanks to its skylight right above the tub/shower. Find an additional half bath just off the living room.

Outdoor Amenities:

Outdoor living among redwoods! The outdoor spaces on this property offer so many possibilities for relaxation. Hang up the hammock and take a siesta on the new redwood deck with superb views of the trees. The classic Adirondack chairs here are a wonderful spot for bird watching, wine or coffee-sipping, or just whiling the day away.

In back of the cabin you’ll find the private enclosed patio. Prepare a meal on the propane grill and dine al fresco at the shaded patio set. Rest easy in the reclining sun loungers. Or sit out under the stars and soak in the Sundance hot tub after a day spent hiking, wine tasting, and enjoying everything the Russian River area has to offer. We’ve even provided two spa-quality cotton robes for you to wrap up in afterwards!

Other things to note:

No parties or large gatherings. Sonoma County has a noise ordinance for quiet hours between 9pm-7am. No outdoor amplified sound is allowed.

We are a baby-friendly home! We offer a Graco Pack 'n Play crib (on request), sheets, baby gates (on request), burp cloths, toys and books. Our place is not suitable for toddlers or preschoolers due to the high elevation of the property, but it's great for older, mellow kids.

No animals allowed.

You will have the entire place to yourself. No shared spaces.

Unfortunately, this property is not wheelchair accessible. Guests must be able to walk up a steep hill to access the property.

The house is equipped with one exterior security camera for safety reasons only. It is located at the top of the stairs and faces down toward the street. There are no other cameras anywhere on the premises.

A designated parking space is available for your use next to the deck. There is additional street parking available nearby. The property across the street is not mine; parking there means you risk getting towed.

To ensure your comfort, the cabin has been outfitted with a brand new heat pump for climate control.

The cabin is located uphill in a beautiful pocket of forest just five minutes on foot from the riverfront, a restaurant, and local brewery. Downtown Guerneville, a liberal and very LGBTQ+ friendly community with good food, music, and culture, is just a 25-minute walk away through lush forest.

When you’re ready to venture farther out, River Road is close by and allows you access to plenty of charming towns, including Sebastopol, Jenner, Bodega Bay, Healdsburg, Occidental, and Petaluma. This is the perfect starting point for your Sonoma County wine tour.

Big Bertha's sits on a hillside and is two levels. From the driveway, two flights of stairs lead to the deck and front door. Just inside the front door is a quaint mudroom with hooks for coats, a spot for muddy shoes, and the washer/dryer.

Upstairs - The recently remodeled kitchen features stainless steel appliances, attractive cabinetry, and opens the dining area. The bar counter transitions smoothly to the dining area, where the dining table comfortably seats 8. Don’t miss the coffee station! A sliding door leads to the deck with a gas BBQ, picnic table, and (seasonal) folding Adirondack chairs. An open doorway from the dining area leads to the living room with extra features like a chess table and writing desk. A short hallway, accessible from both the living room and the kitchen, leads to two bedrooms (one with a queen bed and one with two twins) and a full bathroom (shower over tub).

Downstairs - A spiral staircase connects the upstairs living room and downstairs “suite.” Featuring a game room, with a double futon for additional sleeping space, smart TV with Netflix (no cable), a Foosball table, and a small master suite with a queen bed, and a small, yet full, bathroom with a shower. Sliding doors lead to a small lower deck with two (seasonal) Adirondack chairs - a great spot for a morning cuppa!

Outdoors - The main outdoor living areas are on the same level as the upper story of the house. In addition to the deck with gas BBQ, outdoor gas fireplace, and al fresco dining, there is a side yard with a bocce ball court and a back patio with a hot tub and outdoor shower.

Big Bertha's is named for the original owner, Bertha. She and her husband built the house in 1952. When walking though the hallway, notice the artwork, which are framed pieces of the original flooring found during the remodel.

Cooling: The upstairs bedrooms each have a ceiling fan, and the downstairs bedroom naturally stays cooler. As is common in our area, Big Bertha's does not have AC. Being near the coast and under the redwoods, nighttime temperatures drop and opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house.

Kitchen: In addition to the usual appliances, Big Bertha’s kitchen includes a dishwasher, gas range, and lots of extras.

Bathrooms: Upstairs bathroom: shower over tub; downstairs bathroom: shower only. Both are accessible from hallways.

Location: Big Bertha's is in the Guerneville neighborhood of Guernewood Park - just west of downtown. It is a 5-minute walk to the Russian River and a 20-minute walk into town. There is a playground, tennis courts, neighborhood beach, and a restaurant all within a few minutes’ walk. It is a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park only in the driveway and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Stairs: There are 22 stairs from the parking area to the front door. Inside, there is a single-story spiral staircase between the living room and lower level.

Pet Friendly: This home welcomes up to 2 well-mannered dogs. Due to insurance carrier guidelines the following dog breeds are restricted from being at this residence: Akita, Alaskan Malamute, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Stafford Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, American Bully, any dog commonly known as a Pit Bull, Cane Corso, Chow Chow, Doberman Pinscher, German Shepherd, Great Dane, Mastiff, Presa Canario, Rottweiler, Siberian Husky, attack or guard dog, fighting dog or dog bred for fighting, dog with a history of injuring other dogs, mixed with one of more of the breeds listed above, mixed with a wild animal (including by not limited to wolves), known or expected to be harmful/dangerous/injurious to others, and any canine with a prior history of causing “bodily injury.”

TVs: The house is equipped with 2 smart TVs. While traditional cable TV is not provided on either television, guests can log into any of their personal streaming apps on the Smart TVs. On both TVs, the Samsung TV Plus app allows access to national and local news, as well as a variety of other TV programs. Each TV has a DVD/Blu-Ray player.

Driving Distances:
Proximity to wineries: Korbel Winery is 4.3 miles and an additional 5 minutes to Westside Road and dozens of renowned wineries.

Nearest River Beach: A few minutes by car or 0.3 mi by foot to Guernewood Park Neighborhood Beach. Johnson's Beach is a 1-ish mile walk/drive, and all around fabulous place to enjoy the river, rent boats, inner tubes, beach umbrellas, and grab a beer and bite to eat - when they are open for the season. Otherwise, you can wander the beach, but the boats and concession stand will not be available. Dogs are not allowed at Johnson's Beach when they are open for the season.

Nearest Ocean Beach: There are many ocean beaches along the Sonoma coast, but one of the closest is Goat Rock State Beach just south of Jenner - 12 miles from the house. One of the beaches at Goat Rock is dog friendly.

Willowhaven is a beautifully crafted redwood home on a generous lot dotted with fruit trees. An expansive wraparound deck encapsulates seven glorious redwood trees and bends around even more. With a mixture of shade and bright light, it’s the perfect setting for a romantic getaway or to simply recharge your batteries. In fair weather, BBQ, dine outside, slumber in the hammock, or stargaze. When it rains, luxuriate in the hot tub or listen to the storm from the cozy interior. High ceilings and abundant windows make all type of weather lovely at Willowhaven. A redwood “cathedral” surrounds the hot tub and up-lights show off the beauty of our trees.

Inside, the master bedroom features a King-size bed with adjusting frame. Lift or lower the back or foot sections of the bed separately and settle in to watch TV or snuggle while the wood burning stove warms the room. Both full bathrooms are substantial – making this a great home to visit as a couple, with friends, or a small family. The fully stocked kitchen and many places to dine, inside and out, ensure you have room to prepare gourmet meals with local produce and wines.

You’re minutes from the coast, Armstrong Woods State Park, Northwood Golf Course, and the Russian River. Quaint shops, casual and fine dining, and world (and locally) famous wineries are within a short drive.

Proximity to wineries: There are tasting rooms in downtown Guerneville (5.2 mi) and a wine bar in Duncan’s Mills (4.9 mi), and oodles more tasting rooms at vineyards within 10 to 15 miles. We recommend visiting Westside Road to start.

Nearest River Beach: The Monte Rio Public Beach has seasonal boat rentals and concessions (1 mi) and a neighborhood beach within walking distance.

Nearest Ocean Beach: The coastal beaches in Jenner are approx. 10 miles from Willowhaven.

- "This house was perfect for my son and me. The location was perfect in almost every way- walking distance to a nice beach on the river and walking distance (for us) to everything else in Monte Rio. I walked our dog several miles everyday through the neighborhood and out along the river and Dutch creek. This is a great house if you are traveling with a dog. The fenced yard is huge. The deck is not gated, but our dog is not a wanderer so that wasn’t an issue for us. The only drawbacks were looking out at the neighboring houses which are in need of some TLC and the neighbors across the street who had ongoing arguments. But the beautiful redwoods and house more than made up for those annoyances. We would definitely stay here again."

Bonne Chère is, as its name suggests, the ideal spot to kick back, relax and enjoy the good cheer and splendid food and wine that Sonoma County is known for. After a day of trolling for tasty finds (perhaps a new favorite bottle from a family-owned winery or a creamy goat cheese made near the Sonoma Coast or the freshest picks from one of the various farmer's markets), imagine relaxing with a good book and a glass of wine in Bonne Chère's comfortable living room, cooking a feast in the gourmet kitchen, lounging on the spacious deck or taking a soak in the private hot tub.

Inside Bonne Chère, guests will find the home both delightful and modern. The kitchen is stocked for even the pickiest cook, and includes stainless steel appliances, gas stove, dishwasher, beautiful wood cabinets and tile, and a wine fridge. The living room has a large television, stereo (there is a CD collection available for guests), gas fireplace and ample seating. In both bedrooms, the beds are exceedingly comfortable and made with high-quality linens. The bathroom has modern tile work and a walk-in shower with a window so guests can admire the redwoods and lush hillside while showering (a window curtain can be closed if desired).

Outside Bonne Chère is an extension of the living space. There is outdoor dining, outdoor seating, a gas grill and a private hot tub area. The property continues to wrap around the house to a 'secret' sitting spot, perfect for enjoying a locally roasted cup of Joe or stargazing with a glass of wine. Tucked against a hillside in a Guerneville neighborhood, Bonne Chère feels like its own little private world. Although there are neighbors to both the left and the right, the landscaping around the house and the hillside behind the home provides redwood views and privacy. The upper yard is mostly fenced, but not dog-proof!

Bonne Chère is located in a Guerneville neighborhood a walkable distance from downtown Guerneville. Shops, restaurants, supermarket, river access and services are all within a mile of the property. Casa Luna's amenities include a fully equipped kitchen with 5 burner gas range and convection oven, new dishwasher, recently remodeled Italian tile bathroom, bed and bath linens, romantic hot water outdoor shower surrounded by redwoods and adjacent to a large hot tub, comfortable deck lounge furniture and gas barbecue, a clothes washer, dryer and safe off-road parking. The house is conveniently located minutes from the towns of Guerneville, Rio Nido and Duncan Mills. All three towns offer shopping, restaurants, movies, public river beaches, as well as canoe and kayak rentals. Northwood Golf Course and Pee Wee Golf are only a few minutes away. The Pacific Ocean and stunning Sonoma Coast are a lovely 20 minute drive away.

Casa Luna is a non-smoking house and is dog friendly. The fully-fenced deck provides lots of space for a dog to soak up the sun and lounge. Your well-behaved mature dog is most welcome! Sanctuaire is a quaint cabin, tucked away in a sunny riverfront neighborhood. Enjoy relaxing indoors and out, or walk to the river and the town of Monte Rio, less than a mile away.

The interiors are comfortable and clean. The main cabin sleeps 4 people, with two bedrooms (one with a connected bathroom), a second bathroom, and an open living space complete with dining area, full kitchen, woodstove and living rooms with television.

The studio (no bathroom), with rich wood interiors and views of the garden, sleeps 2 more people on the twin daybed with twin trundle. The sauna is also located in the studio. The fully fenced property is private, and fully encases the studio and main cottage, making easy access between the cottage and studio.

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Sanctuaire is 6 people not including kids under 3 years old. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times.

A Note About Our Cleaning Fees: Thank you for supporting our local business! When you stay with us, you are supporting local families at work. We think everyone deserves a decent living wage, and we make sure to set the rates and fees so that our cleaners and employees earn a living wage in beautiful Sonoma County. The cleaning fee goes directly to the cleaners and inspectors for their hard work in making sure our guests have a wonderful and welcoming space to call home for their stay.

Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 2 vehicles, one in the carport and the other on the street in front of the house. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Roskamp is a darling Riverfront cabin with its own private access to the Russian River. Welcoming and comfortable, Roskamp is the kind of family home that makes for memorable vacations.

Though small in size, the open, well-lit common areas have an easy flow, making time together in this friendly space relaxing and enjoyable. The living, kitchen and dining spaces are equipped with the essentials. The dining table comfortably seats 6, the living room has spots for reading and watching TV, and the kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. A short hallway leads to the bathroom, with stall shower, and the two bedrooms - each with a Queen bed. The single daybed under the window in the dining area accommodates one more overnight guest.

Roskamp has ample outdoor space to enjoy. The deck, with lounge chairs, outdoor dining table and propane BBQ grill, and river view, is located off the living room. The lower lawn has additional seating and room to play. At the far end of the lawn, dirt stairs lead down to the river. The dock and boats are available during the summer months when the river is dammed for recreation.

Docks and Boats: Docks and beaches are seasonal only and available from mid-June to mid-September providing the summer dams are in. Canoes, kayaks, paddleboats and rowboats that are provided in some of our homes are also available from mid-June to mid-September only. The river is usually too swift for boating in the winter and many docks and beaches are under water until late spring.

Proximity to wineries: The closest winery and tasting room is Korbel, approx. 1 mile east. There are numerous wineries and wine tasting rooms within a 20 minute drive.

During the Peak Season, which runs from June 19th through the end of the 3rd week in August, Roskamp has a 7 night minimum and rents on a Monday to Monday pattern. If you make an online reservation outside of this rotation day requirement, we may contact you about altering your dates.
